But techie Angela Benton is out to change that. As founder of Black Web 2.0 she is setting examples that blacks can be creators, not just consumers. Majora Carter :: An advocate for green space, Carter is the founder of the Majora Carter Group, a private, for-profit "green" economic consulting firm. She also founded the non-profit environmental justice solutions corporation, Sustainable South Bronx (SSBx). Her first major project was writing a $1.25M Federal Transportation planning grant for the South Bronx Greenway with 11 miles of alternative transport, local economic development, low-impact stormwater management, and recreational space. This led to the first new South Bronx water front park in over 60 years. Gabby Douglas :: As a member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold medals in both the individual all-around and team competitions. Douglas is the first woman of color and the first African-American gymnast in Olympic history to become the individual all-around champion, and the first American gymnast to win gold in both the individual allaround and team competitions at the same Olympics as well as being the only American all-around champion to win multiple gold medals. In December 2012, Douglas released her autobiography, Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith. The book debuted at number four on The New York Times Young Adult Bestseller List
