MESSAGE FROM REV. BRENT POMEROY With the big holiday season behind us and a new year in front of us maybe like me you've been thinking about what's next. At the beginning of a new year we're like painters standing before an empty canvas with our brush in hand. How do we want our picture to look? What kind of story will our painting tell? Who and what do we expect to appear in our painting? Will it be just black and white or will it be full of colors of different shades and hues? Will every square inch be painted in with something or will we leave some empty spaces left to the imagination? Of course we can never know what our painting will look like at the end of the year. It could end up looking like such a jumbled mess of colors and characters so randomly connected to one another that it's hard to make any sense of it at all. Or, it could end up being a masterpiece, a truly beautiful work of art. But however the painting looks, whatever picture appears, we can trust that God's handiwork will be all over it. Inside this Issue Message from Rev. Brent Pomeroy Prayer Concerns Announcements 1 2 3-5 January Calendar 6 Honor to Serve & Market Place 7 I believe when it comes to painting our life story we are co-creators with God. We draw things how we want them to be and then God fills in around the edges, adding a little color here, a little accent there, making certain things stand out and fading other things into the background. The end result is always different than what we had imagined, but it's often fuller, more interesting and more colorful than what we would have designed on our own. Mark your Calendar 8 So it's time to pick up our brush and get started. May God grant us the vision and inspiration to paint something beautiful together this year. I'll see you in church. Brent 1
