God s greatest creation, man, was given charge of all that was created. How men define God is usually how they act. This responsibility provides safety for his wife and children. A serious crisis is the absent fathers whose sons make up 75% of the incarcerated. The Church in its wisdom wants healthy families, and provides help before, during, and afterwards. Any questions, please contact John Gobo at 8851622. St. Mary s School 2nd Grade News We have had an AWESOME year in 2 nd grade. The most exciting part was preparing for and receiving First Communion. As part of our preparation, we had a First Communion Retreat. The students each baked a loaf of bread to take home and share with their families. Fr. Vivacqua showed the 2 nd graders different items he uses during Mass. He explained what each is used for and gave a brief history. The students also watched a video about the Mass, which was a nice wrapup to what we were learning in Religion. Mrs. Fitzgerald ended our retreat day by reading The Night Before my First Communion. It was a great day! In Science, we finished up our penguin study with spectacular penguin dioramas and written reports. The students learned a lot and did a fabulous job reporting on several different species of penguins. Towards the end of April, the class adopted a leopard gecko named Buddy. We have spent the last several weeks learning all about leopard geckos we are now experts and are taking very good care of Buddy. The second graders took a field trip to Stratton Air National Guard Base. We had learned about Antarctica while we were learning about penguins. We got to go on a C130 and actually got to sit in the pilot s seat as well as see how big those planes are! Then we went to the fire house on Base. They have special firetrucks that are used to put out plane fires. It was really cool! Our class was responsible for preparing the June First Friday Mass. It was very special because it was the first time that the 2 nd graders were able to receive Communion as a class and with the older students. The 2 nd graders wore their First Communion clothes as a symbol of this important event. During the Communion Meditation, the class sang and signed a song called Share the Light of Jesus. It was absolutely beautiful!! What a great way to end our 2 nd Grade year!!

Parish News Join in the Celebration for our Pastor Father Kelly in the Social Hall after mass today. To Our Pastor May the God of Grace richly bless and watch over you, May the God of Peace grant you peacealways and May the God of AbundantJoy shower you daily. I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. I have plans to give you hope and a good future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 Happy Retirement Faith Formation: Happy Father s Day! As Christians we are to be imitators of God. We are to be merciful because God is merciful (Luke 6:36). We are to be holy because God is holy (Leviticus 11:45). We are to be kind and forgiving because this is what God is like (Ephesians 4:32). St. Paul said, Be imitators of God, as beloved children. The important question for fathers then arises, How do I teach my children to imitate a God they cannot see? Fathers are to be an image of the heavenly Father before their children. Fathers are to live in such a way that their children can imitate their lives and grow in likeness to God. Therefore, the most important thing needing change in the process of training children is not the kids, but the dads! Children will imitate the godly transformation of their fathers. St. Paul could say to his spiritual children, Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). By Steve Wood of Familylifecenter.net Here are some ideas for you to try from keepingitcatholic.org: Take the children into the confessional line and be sure togo to Confession yourself. Remain after Mass and offer your thanksgiving. Teach your children how to offer theirs and be sure it becomes a habit. Give the children the appropriate change in your pocket so they can light candles and help them light those tapers. Kneel in front of the Tabernacle with them afterwards and offer your petitions with theirs. Show them that the faith is not for women only! In other words, husbands and fathers, lead the children not only for example's sake but because you believe in God, too! St. Mary s Community Service: Making baby Afghansfor Birthright is an ongoing parish project.any completed Afghans may be placed in the Food Pantry collection bins and they will be sorted out for Birthright. Health Ministry: FATHER S DAY Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. Proverbs 17:6 Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice. Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, have worked to become a good father. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who by their own account were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support. Let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by the neglect and hostility of their children. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who, despite divorce, have remained in their children's lives. Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has offered healing. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned their step children's love and respect. Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death, and continue to hold the child in their heart. Father, we ask that you bless those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation as if they were their own. Father, we ask that you bless those men who have "fathered" us in their role as mentors and guides. Father, we ask that you bless those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children. And Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us. What Makes a Dad God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight, The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a family in need, Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it... Dad HAPPY FATHER S DAY TO ALL OUR MEN May they forever be blessed with God s Grace. We thank you for your sacrificial offering of $1,028 for Sunday, June 10.To cover our weekly expenses, we need $1,000. PLEASE JOIN US AFTER OUR 9:30 am MASS IN THE SOCIAL HALL for COFFEE, DONUTS, & FELLOWSHIP.
