June 2014 Covington District United Methodist Day July 12, 2014 10am-8pm Come and join the Covington District as we gather together for a fun filled day at Cincinnati s Coney Island for all ages. Our Package Includes: Parking and entrance into the Pool and Amusement Park, a reserved shelter with a buffet meal, and unlimited soft drink for the entire day from 10am until 8pm with: *Parker s Grove Entertainment Stage featuring three live interactive game shows: 1. Coney s Minute Olympics - A fast and frenzied children s game based on the show Minute to Win It. 2. Island Sports Challenge - Teens and young adults will see who can outlast and outplay in this sporty game. 3. Keep It Real - The entire family can work together to win this Let s Make a Deal style challenge. *Sand Volleyball Courts *Corn Hole *Basketball Courts *Children s Playground Sign-up for our Talent Contest to discover our own, Covington District Idol. Yard Sale The United Methodist Women of Trinity United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale on June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church (101 E. Southern Ave., Latonia). All proceeds from the sale will benefit mission and ministry projects. Please call the church office at 859-261- 4010 for more information L.A.C.E. Reminder that our next LACE session is: Saturday, June 7th 9:30am to 4pm Mark Your Calendars! Ida Spence Mission Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Cake Auction at Immanuel UMC on Saturday, November 1st Ida Spence As the summer approaches, consider bringing your adults and/or youth to the Mission to host a Parking Lot Party before or after one of our evening meals being served fro m 6 7 pm Sunday through Friday each week during the summer months. The long hot days of summer often leave our little ones looking for something FUN TO DO. This is an awesome opportunity to share the love of Christ with these little ones. Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, water games, popsicles anything that sounds fun. Call Gina 859-907-6925 Edelmaier Fund/United Methodist Men Money in this fund is available to churches as a loan of $2,000 interest free. The funds are to be used for church repairs and improvements. The loan is to be paid back after 1 year or special arrangements are available. The fund is controlled by the District Lay Leader, District Superintendent, United Methodist Men s President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Applications are available from Gene Maegly at 859-441-1644. 4

ANNUAL CONFERENCE JUNE 9 11, 2014 Reach the World Annual Conference will soon be here. If you are the delegate for your local church, remember to get on line and register. There are many opportunities for lunches, service, and gathering at Annual Conference so don't forget to register for those as well. Food Court will be open on Monday Wednesday 7am to 2 pm Monday Tuesday 5 pm to 8pm All information can be found at www.kyumc.org. Hand Towels & Can Goods Every year each district is asked to bring an article for the health kits that are assembled for UMCOR. This year the goal is 3000 kits. Covington District is asked to bring hand towels (not dish towels). Please start collecting these and bring them with you to Annual Conference or drop them off beforehand (by June 5) to the District Office. Our District will need to furnish approximately 500 plus. Also, collect your can goods and non-perishable foods and bring with you to Annual Conference. There will be a drop-off location inside the convention center. ATTENTION: If no one will be at the church when the driver comes for the pickup, please leave him a note with instructions to follow. If you have any questions about our schedule or if there are any corrections that need to be made, please contact our office as soon as possible. Please have your material at the church before June 16 th so that all of your material can be picked up while our trucks are in your area.
