Chapter 1 The spirit of the fear of the Lord Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever. Psalm 112: 1-3 The number one requirement to enjoy the blessing of the Lord is to fear the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord. The man who fears the Lord, will also delight greatly in His commandments, then shall wealth and riches be in his house. This implies that he enjoys the abundance of the Lord. Not only that, his seed shall be mighty upon earth, and the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Brethren, there is neither debate nor excuse on this. If you really 2 15
want to fulfill your glorious destiny in this life, the fear of the Lord is a MUST. Carefully consider this: The Bible says: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Psalm 111: 10. This is repeated in the book of Proverbs 9: 10. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.. It is evident that without wisdom, you could get into trouble spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. Without wisdom, you may have problems in your marriage, in other relationships, in your carrier, even in your ministry. Without wisdom, you may not successfully fulfill your destiny; for the scriptures cannot be broken. But you shall fulfill your destiny in Jesus Name. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4: 7 What then is the fear of the Lord? How do I fear the Lord? Someone may ask. Together let us consider this answer. The fear of the Lord, it is living a life that pleases God. It is doing things that please God. In other words, it is living according to God s concepts, perspectives and the plan He has drawn for us, by the right application of His Word. Looking at the account of Joseph s life style, we can easily discover that his foundation was the fear of the Lord. When you fear God, you are filled with His divine secrets, and when you are filled with His secrets, you will be fulfilled in 216
life; and when you are fulfilled in life, you become a solution to your world. The Bible says: Abraham was Great, Isaac very Great, Jacob exceedingly Great; but Joseph was the Greatest of all. Why? Listen to what Joseph said as being the secret of his greatness in life. «I fear GOD» But he refused, and said unto his master s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? Genesis 39: 8-9. Joseph understood well this divine principle of the fear of the Lord, and this secured him the total presence of God in his life, which revealed to him secrets in order to fulfill his great and glorious destiny. This revelation finally revealed him to his world as an indispensable solution to his generation, the Zaphnath Paaneah, which means the saviour of the entire Egypt and its surrounding countries. And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, 2 17
