Adult Confirmation Robin Therese, 3372330 ext. 208 Are you an adult baptized Catholic who has received First Communion, who is active in your church and faith life, but for whatever reason, did not receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? Perhaps you weren t yet ready to say Yes to an adult faith commitment at the time, or maybe you have been asked to be a godparent or confirmation sponsor. Full initiation into the Catholic Church means receiving the three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. It s not too late to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. St. Francis Xavier and St. Mary Parishes will be offering a series of preparation classes beginning Tuesday, September 18 through Tuesday, October 23. Adult Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, October 28 at the 9:00am Mass at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. For more information or to register, please contact Robin Therese, Pastoral Associate at 3372330 (ext. 208) for more information. Our Journey of Faith Have you been attending Mass with your spouse, fiancé, a friend, but not Catholic? Baptized, but never received First Communion or Confirmation? Never been baptized? The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process whereby adults are received into full membership with the Catholic Church. We use an adult model of learning in a small group format, which includes reading, discussion, prayer and reflection. No essays or exams. Our learning and formation process centers around the Sunday scriptures, teachings of the Catholic faith, worship, and our life experiences. The group usually meets once a week from late fall through spring and culminates with the Easter Vigil when one becomes a full member of the church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. To learn more about the process or how you can become involved, call or write: Robin Therese (Pastoral Associate) at 3372330 (St. Mary Parish) or 3361813 (St. Francis Xavier) or rtherese@ stmarydepere.org or rtherese@stfrancisdepere.org. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. John 15:16 In only a matter of weeks, the 2012 school year will begin. At this time, the Diocese of Green Bay will send 27 seminarians away for priestly formation. As we create and maintain a prayerful culture of vocation, we ask that you keep priestly vocations on the top of your list of intentions. This past June, two men were ordained for our Diocese. These two priests, Fr. Ryan Krueger and Fr. William Van Dynhoven, are a great gift to our Diocese and graciously responded to the voice of Jesus in a profound way. Thank you again for your part in their vocation and education. As the number of seminarians continues to increase, so does our need to support them. Please consider making a generous gift this year. Your gift makes such a difference and is used to fund the educational needs of our seminarians. This year, we expect these costs to exceed $800,000. To support these fine men, our parish invites you to give to the Seminarian Collection during the month of August. The next two weekends Seminarian Tom Holschuh has been invited to speak about his call to priesthood. He will be at St. Francis Xavier the weekend of August 11 & 12 and at St. Mary the weekend of August 18 & 19. Please keep our adopted seminarians in prayer throughout the year.
