MISSION STATEMENT CENTENNIAL BAPTIST CHURCH CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS AND TO EACH OTHER JANUARY CONTACT 2019 Pastor Bryce Kristofferson 816 W. As I write this, I am thinking of the five years that I have been your pastor at Centennial. A pastorate that spans from that first snowy Sunday morning until the Christmas Eve service that we had just recently. Five years, 260 Sunday s we have worshiped together. It is my prayer that over those Sunday s you have grown to love Jesus more. I pray that you have grown spiritually during that time. I pray that as a church we have gotten healthier as a church. I know that we have seen many improvements to the facilities, from new air conditioners to a new roof on the education building, putting piers in to stable up the foundation and the new lobby area and new floor in the women s bathroom, we have seen our facility improve. With these improvements done there is still work to be done! We must find ways to grow numerically at Centennial. Specifically, we must find ways to grow in the younger generations. Out of our regular attenders 46 or more are 70 or older. We are averaging close to 90 on Sunday mornings and the regular attenders list that I got the 46 from was around 140. you don t have to be a scientist to figure out that over time our congregation will be drastically reduced just by health and mortality. Work needs to be done to reach younger people. One thing that we will be doing to reach people for God s Kingdom is Celebrate Recovery. Celebrate Recovery is needed in our community. While it is needed, we may see little growth in our Sunday Morning attendance from it. Celebrate Recovery has the potential to lead many people to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ and so even if our Sunday morning attendance is not affected, I believe that the Kingdom implications are worth it. We all need to be committed to being the most welcoming church that we can be. I need for you to be the friendliest church member that you can be! I need you to be interested in building relationships with people outside your group of friends. I need you to be okay if someone sits in your normal spot. NEVER tell a guest or visitor that they are in your spot. Chances are, even if you are trying to be funny, they won t take it that way and they may never come back to church. I will do my best to have good sermons that are Biblically based and present the good news of Jesus each and every week. Continued on page 6

JANUARY 2019 Page 7 Continued from page 1 I will do my best to make our worship services meaningful, powerful, and moving. I will do my best to create an atmosphere where God moves mightily. You come, expecting God to move in your hearts and in others. Pray with me that God will move. Pray that the good news of the gospel will reach those that need Jesus! Then allow God to move! God willing we will grow! We will see His kingdom advanced! We will see people in Mexico, MO come to know Jesus. God Bless you and have a wonderful year! Pastor Bryce Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and He will give you all you need...if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. So don t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:32b-34 God controls the entire universe -He can certainly handle our needs!
