The Gospel of Works. Donald Mann

Transcription:

The Risen Christ and the End of the Law You often hear me talking about the contrasts, the differences, etc. between Paul s writings versus the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as well as with the books from Hebrews to Jude. Simply put, the gospels are simply a continuation of the law from the books of the Old Testament and equally so, the books from Hebrews to Jude are again the law but are only to be applied by preachers, etc. during the tribulation. Paul s writings / books are about the dispensation of the grace of God the goodness of God and are to be taught to the Gentiles. His writings to us are NOT about the severity of God through the law, other than within his own comparisons of law and grace or when he is talking directly to the Jews during his early to the Jews ministry. When Paul first came onto the scene, his first talk was to the Jews Acts 9:20. His message was the continuing of the gospels message that Christ is the Son of God. Through and through the time of the gospels, their (Jews) belief that was needed was to simply believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Acts 9:22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. Paul eventually moved on to including the Gentiles with the Jews with the teachings from the risen Saviour. Eventually, because of the continued rejection by the Jews, Paul end up with the Gentiles only! To this day, Jews still have no clue and the Gentiles, while they have been glad and glorified the word of the Lord, today, they also are rejecting Paul s teachings from the risen Saviour as inspired and preserved ONLY in a King James 1611 Bible. When we read Paul s comments about the law, we need to know that he is often simply referring to the Jews, etc. He compares the law from the Jews, etc. with this new faith that is being brought to the Gentiles. Through and through, we see the comparison between the severity of God and the goodness of God the law of God and the faith in God - along with the faith of Jesus Christ by having their faith IN Jesus Christ. The purpose of this particular study is my response to my own question What does Paul say about the teachings in the gospels? I know that what Paul teaches is often in stark contrast to what the 12 apostles taught the apostolic doctrine from Jesus to the Jews vs Paul s doctrine from the risen Christ to the Gentiles.

I also know that most every proclaimed Christian today clings to the teachings of the gospels while they continue to reject Paul s teachings. They do have a few pastoral favorite verses that the pastors use in order to stir up their people and of which the pastors can use to put forth a crowd pleasing so-called Christian walk the abundant life the blessed life the flesh pleasing happy - success oriented and fun life among the world with the ways of the world, all the while having favour with all the people. (Acts 2:47). However, other than that, they hate / reject / despise Paul s teachings ESPECIALLY when someone like me comes along and says ONLY in reference to Paul and a King James Bible. Add on the words rightly divided through Paul s books, and you have a recipe for rejection all the way down to your own family. For this study, simply read on. See what Paul says about the law that is derived not only from the obvious OT Levitical law found in Moses teachings, but also the law that exists from within the Gospels. Remember, all of that law, (OT / Gospels) is still considered OT doctrine because the death of the testator had not yet taken place. See Hebrews 9:16,17 - For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. The Jews were Paul s biggest enemy because he taught a strange doctrine when compared to the Jewish doctrine of the law. They not only sought to kill him any time they had an opportunity, they even developed a conspiracy against him. That conspiracy that was created in Acts 21-29 continues to this day towards Paul as well as to those of us who choose to follow Paul Only. (Which, by the way, is nothing more than simply choosing to follow the teachings of the risen Saviour through Paul s books only, as found ONLY in a King James 1611 Bible.) The words I Paul begin every book that we are to look to for our doctrine, properly called sound doctrine today. It is a doctrine that, if studied properly, would shew thyself approved unto God, not because of what the Christian has accomplished in their walk, but what Christ has done TO us! He made us free from sin, Romans 6:18. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. II Corinthians 5:21. It is not OUR WALK that we develop that makes approved unto God! It is our studying of the KJB rightly divided that we can learn (shew to thyself) that God MADE US APPROVED UNTO HIM! So, let the study begin! (P.S. - While this is not about the purpose of the law, you will see some references that would be part of another great study The Purpose of the Law to Gentiles. I figure I will do that sometime but if you want to do one yourself, just simply copy and paste all the verses with the word law and start looking for those verses dealing with the purpose of the law today. It s there it s obvious it just isn t what this particular study is about.)

Note the following Scriptures and the underlined points for emphasis that deal with the law from the gospels and the teachings that were applicable during the days of the gospels. This law is still being taught in the modern church today and I believe - without a shadow of doubt - is to be considered a false gospel that is being taught today TO self-proclaimed Christians and is supposedly applicable in their daily walk and life all to be blessed and rewarded by God with an abundant life of blessings or punishment. In the following verses, I show Paul s teachings of sound doctrine that he received directly from the risen Christ Himself that, according to Paul, are to be taught every where in every church today. We will see what Paul says about being obedient to faith or being obedient to the law. See Ephesians 3 and I Corinthians 4:17. Rom 2:12-14 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Point being that the ten commandments, for example, were NOT given to the Gentiles during the OT. They were the heathen but were without the law however, they were still accountable they simply should have known better by nature. Rom 2:17,18 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; Rom 3:20,21 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (See Romans 7:7,8) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Rom 3:27,28 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Note that in Habbakuk 2:4, the just shall live by his faith. They were justified based on their faith and in how they followed the law not by the faith of Christ as it is today.

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. So, the law still exists and has a purpose but it is not the same to us Gentiles! Rom 4:13-16 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, This is the true promise of Abraham that pastors SHOULD be talking about, not the promise of more land, blessings, etc. Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. And this certainly applies to babies, etc. too. They have no law! So, when a baby dies, sin has not been imputed to it. So, as sad and hard as it is to see a youngster die, they are without sin. Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: Rom 6:14,15 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Some of the greatest chapters to understand are found in Romans 5-8 they deal with sin as a noun and sin as a verb. There is a difference and it makes all the difference when it comes to how preachers are to be preaching about sin (noun) vs sinning (verb); in other words about the gospels versus Paul!

Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? (speaking of Jews) Rom 7:4-9 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. (Bringing forth fruit doesn t have to mean the modern only goal being soul winning either!) For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. (also see Romans 3:20; Romans 7:9) But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And then we are quickened by the risen Saviour not born again! (Being born-again, a term used throughout modern Christianity today, has nothing to do with saved Gentiles today. It is plainly referring to the Jewish nation needing to be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus is speaking of ye plural Israel as a nation! It is made reference again in I John, again referring to the Jews being born of God.)

Rom 7:21-23 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Ah yes, the frustration of a guilt trip as we battle to try to do right but right according to Paul s manner of life - not the apostles, the Gospels, the Beatitudes, the Sermon on the Mount, etc. Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Now THIS is the war we fight! Rom 8:2-4 We are MADE free from the law of sin and death!!! Today s gospel preachers just don t teach this. They throw in the need for good works and confession, etc. Shame on them! For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom 8:8-10 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. They preach and teach this phrase about doing something in the flesh like bad music, dirty deeds, etc. If a person is truly saved they are quickened they are made free, etc. but they are NOT doing something in the flesh! Those bad works (not sins) will burn, of course but they are not under the fear of the severity of God. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Oh, do you mean quickened? Yupper! Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,

he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Yes quickened! Rom 9:31,32 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; So, if today, people are depending on their own faith as well as their own law of righteousness are they not still depending on works a work of faith their own? Rom 10:4,5 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. That is worth memorizing! end of the law for righteousness. There is still a purpose for the law but it isn t for righteousness well, to those that believeth, anyway. That is the RISEN CHRIST, by the way not the Jesus in the gospels to the apostles. (reminder see Hebrews 9:16,17) For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. Moses is old Testament, of course and the gospels are still Old Testament of course! Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. This would fit well in the purpose of the law study! Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Include this verse with 13:8 Now, the next few verses take some careful look and definitely require a separate sermon study! 1Co 9:20,21

This is where we must balance our walk so as not to turn away people by our own apparent selfrighteous behavior or as Paul describes it, destroy the work of God by our meat (Romans 14:20) and understanding, etc. When they see us happily doing things that they do or listening to what they listen to or watching what they watch, drinking what they drink, or going to a church they follow, etc., they tend to wonder what we believe and see us a two-faced Christian. Instead of allowing us to live freely without the law, etc. they would see us as not even being a Christian according to their belief. We often, for meat, destroy the work of God in their life by our living so freely. But do the following verses really mean we must we always do what they do in order to win them to the Lord, as the modern preachers say? 1Co 9:20,21 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Note that in Habbakuk 2:4, the just shall live by his faith. They were justified based on their faith and in how they followed the law not by the faith of Christ as it is today. Gal 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. We are always happy to hear that we are dead to the law, but we must also ask ourselves, How are we living unto God the living God which is your reasonable service? (Colossians 3:1-3; Romans 12:1c) Gal 2:21

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. It seems that today s Christianity frustrates the grace of God with their teaching of the severity of God, the gospel doctrine of the not so good news, etc. Now, Paul is speaking to the foolish Galatians it seems they have turned away from the grace of God teachings. He continues to have to deal with those who want the law the gospel laws, etc. Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Gal 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Gal 3:11-13 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. The preachers today have the promise of Abraham so wrong! (See the notes above on Romans 4:13) Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life,

verily righteousness should have been by the law. Gal 3:23,24 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Gospel preaching preachers are keeping their congregation under the law as they reject Paul s words for the dispensation of the grace of God! Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Gal 4:4,5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, (still during the gospels days under the law. Once again, note Hebrews 9:16,17) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Gal 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? So, if you gospels folks want to follow the Beatitudes, etc. have you ever read them? Can you really do all that is required? Can you even do ALL that is required? Gal 5:3,4 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, (Jew) that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. You gospels folks why do you still try to do the law? Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Here is that famous phrase you hear people say all the time instead of reading and following a rightly divided King James Bible, they claim to be Led of the Spirit.

To those that say, The Spirit led me to, does the Spirit of God tell you that God did not fulfil His promise of preserving His words from this generation for ever? Does the Spirit of God tell you His words are available in the originals only? Does the Spirit of God tell someone that there are mistakes in the Bible resulting in over 500 different bibles today? If that was true, wouldn t the Spirit of God ever tell someone what the corrected words should be and come up with another one Bible instead of all those bibles that all say different doctrines? Does the Spirit of God really tell you that Jesus made alcoholic wine that you could dress the way you are you could do what you are doing, etc.? Change your sex from what you were born with? Make you gay? Does the Spirit of God really tell you that God has changed His mind concerning melody and is now ok with the beat, etc. Seriously? Gal 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Note the law of CHRIST Christ referring to the risen Saviour! Gal 6:13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. Those gospels people today they would love to see YOU try to live the law because they can t and won t and don t but they want to see YOU toss out Paul and try to be that Christian they can be! Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; Abolish - To make void; to annul; to abrogate; applied chiefly and appropriately to established laws, contracts, rites, customs and institutions. To destroy, or put an end to. Enmity - The quality of being an enemy; the opposite of friendship; ill will; hatred; unfriendly dispositions; malevolence. It expresses more than aversion and less than malice, and differs from displeasure in denoting a fixed or rooted hatred, whereas displeasure is more transient. A state of opposition. Ordinances does it say two ordinances are still left to obey? It does? And where is that in the Scriptures, if I may ask?

Phi 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, (again, and again I say it that is the OT/Gospels law ) Christ is the end of righteousness, remember? but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: faith OF Christ by faith whose faith? By putting our faith in him, we receive his faith 1Ti 1:7-11 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. Boy, isn t that the truth. I can honestly but sadly say, I have been there and done that. But no more since I started learning from and teaching about the risen Saviour through Paul and Paul only and from a King James 1611 Bible, a King James 1611 Bible ONLY! But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; For us, we can learn of the purpose of the law today and for whom it exists. Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. Note the word MY is referring to PAUL! The gospel of the blessed God is what Paul is all about the risen Saviour the dispensation of the grace of God God s righteousness imputed to us sound doctrine today! Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. And to strive about the law with all the foolish questions, genealogies and contentions that come from them? AVOID! It is unprofitable and vain. Have you noticed how far you get with folks when talk about this stuff? The answer is usually nowhere!

Learn about it! Tell them about it! Show it in your own life? But don t strive about it! And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. II Timothy 2:24-26
