The Karusograph A ministry of Volume 53 Date August 30, 2011 Issue 35 www.clintonfcc.com Kent & Merla have served FCC for 28 years! Let s celebrate this achievement with them by attending church this Sunday.

The Gospel According to Greg Greg Taylor greg@clintonfcc.com 28 years ago this month, Kent and Merla Hickerson left a very successful ministry in the state of Michigan to begin ministry with our church in Clinton. So much has changed since 1983, but through it all, Kent and Merla have touched the lives of thousands in our community in a variety of ways. In a day and age where the average length of a local church ministry is around 36 months, it is almost unheard of to see a 28 year ministry unfold. To say the Hickerson s time at Clinton has been special would be an understatement. This Sunday Kent will be preaching during both services and I hope you will make it a priority to attend and show your love and support to both Kent and Merla. I ll be requesting that Kent make his way to the foyer after each service, and I hope you will take time to offer a kind word of encouragement for his continued ministry at FCC. Thanks in advance for offering love and encouragement to the Hickersons! I m also excited about Family Camp 2 at Little Galilee this weekend. I ve never attended this weekend before, but am looking forward to spending time with several from our church, and also sharing from God s word on Sunday morning. It s still not too late for you to attend Family Camp this weekend just call Beverly Angel (935-3809) secretary at LGCA and she ll get you all the information you need. September brings several special days at FCC you won t want to miss these special events: September 11 at 8:15 am and 11:00 am special 9/11 Remembrance Services where we will honor our counties first responders and be reminded of the difference Jesus makes! September 11 from 4-5:30 pm Preschool and Grade School Youth Group Kick-Off Carnival.

The Gospel According to Greg (cont d) September 11 from 5:30-7pm REVEAL Fall Kick-Off for Jr. High and Sr. High. September 12 75 Days through the N.T. Bible reading challenge begins YOU CAN DO IT! September 21 6 pm all-church work night @ FCC. September 25 at 9:30 am ONE SERVICE Sunday at FCC no programming offered at 8:15 or 11:00. September 28 fall kick-off for Families at First meal at 5:30 pm and FCC s Got Talent at 6:30 pm for the entire church. In addition, the adult choir and the chimes choir both start up again this month. Have a great week see you Sunday! Greg Can You Help? Looking for a few good men from our congregation that would be able/willing to help a single woman in the Wapella area prop up a porch roof to keep it from falling. She cannot afford a new porch at this time. The roof is still in good condition, but the porch walls are collapsing and pulling the roof down. We would like to keep it from falling until funds are available for rebuilding the porch. If you can help, please call 217-871-2917 or 217-935-6050. Thank you!

Young at Heart David Buck, Coordinator When trouble comes, our first temptation is to get upset, speak out of our emotions, and start trying first one thing and then another in the hopes of finding something that will work and turn the situation around. All of these are unacceptable behaviors for the believer who is walking in faith. None of them will bring victory. Jesus gave us peace. The devil regularly attempts to steal it, but peace is ours and we must hold on to it. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14 (KJ) The Hendersons will bring an old-fashioned Kitchen Band to us on the 7th of September. They are excited to come to us from Decatur, Illinois. Then on the 21st we ll enjoy Steve Ingram from the Bement Country Opery with his wit and humor. He is always a refreshing guest we enjoy. Faith is the inborn capacity to see God behind everything. - Oswald Chambers Trips galore are coming. September 15th we ll travel to Kimmswick, MO, for a fun day of adventure and cruising. Then October 15th we ll have a Mystery Trip for a refreshing fall trip. On our trip to Branson we will have a fun group to enjoy laughs and fellowship Nov. 7th - 10th. Christmas in the Chapel will be our 1st trip in December. We will travel to Bloomington to see the Gaither Christmas Program on the 15th of December. Actions, not words, are true criteria of attachment of friends. - George Washington When people display impatience with each other or with themselves, they allow strife to come in a relationship. When we love aggressively, we are patient with each other and able to live together in peace. Love is like a diamond; it has many facets including patience, kindness, generosity, humility, courtesy, unselfishness, good temper, guilelessness, and sincerity. Love endures long and is patient 1 Cor. 13:4 (AMP)

Worship Notes A Time For Christmas Jim Coonce jim@clintonfdd.com I am very excited about the Christmas musical we will be presenting to the congregation and community this Christmas! And it s hard to believe we will soon begin rehearsals in preparation for this musical! You may have guessed already that the title of the musical is, A Time For Christmas. The musical tells the story of a young man who is too busy for Christmas and how he learns why it is important for us all to slow down and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We will present the musical twice on December 4 th. Specific times for the presentations will be announced in the near future. There are several lead parts, including two males and one female, as well as several smaller singing and non-singing parts. It also includes a large chorus (like a choir only they dress in costumes and move around on the stage) that will be a major component of the musical. Auditions will be held during the first couple weeks of September. Keep your eye on the K for upcoming announcements on specific dates for the auditions. In addition to cast auditions, we are in great need of people with set design abilities, set construction, lighting, and other theatrical needs. Please see me, or call me if you would like to help out. Rehearsals for the chorus will begin on October 5th as a part of the regular adult choir practice on Wednesday nights. These rehearsals will actually begin at 7:30 p.m. (following the normal rehearsal time) and conclude at 8:00 p.m. In addition to these chorus rehearsals the regular drama rehearsal portion of this musical will take place on Tuesday evenings. These practices will begin September 20, at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in participating in this musical production, please contact me through e-mail, or calling me at the church office. Merry Christmas!

This Lord s Day September 4, 2011 8:15 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Kent Hickerson will preach both morning services as we celebrate the Hickerson s 28 th anniversary of serving on staff at FCC! 9:30 a.m. Bible School classes for all ages. 10:30 11:00 Fellowship time First Christian Church THE KARUSOGRAPH (USPS 536-250) is published weekly by Corner of W.
