2 The Voice of Sisterhood Friends Let s join together to have an impact! Temple Beth Abraham Sisterhood needs you. There is much to be done. The TBA Sisterhood, part of Women s League for Conservative Judaism, is an essential part of our community. Some of our programs include: Food, paper goods and shopping for each Oneg and Kiddush Support for the Religious School and synagogue budgets Support and food for grieving families Holiday packages to our out of town college students Flowers and holiday beautification for the bima Community educational, enrichment and social programs Community Judaica gift shop Gifts for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs Synagogue kitchen - small appliances and utensils Charitable support to local organizations While engaging in these programs that enrich and strengthen our synagogue, participants also enrich our understanding of Judaism, our community and our personal lives. We learn, grow and work together and have a good time doing it. You can find your own personal way to contribute, choose your own way to serve the community and bring your own ideas for community service or enrichment programs. Please send in your 2013 2014 membership form (later in this bulletin) and indicate how you would like to engage. Your participation is needed and will provide an enriching and rewarding experience. Contribute to College Outreach Whether you have a student in college or not, it s never too late to contribute to the College Outreach fund. Our ability to deliver holiday packages to our students relies on donations to supplement our budget so that we can provide packages that appeal to a wide range of student likes and interests. Unfortunately, shipping costs are expensive (with any carrier) and they can make up about one-third to onehalf the cost of each package. So consider a donation to College Outreach to help us keep a strong Jewish connection with our students. January will mark the start of the fourth successful year of BABKA. Our mostly monthly discussions are animated and always interesting. Each month a participant "hosts" the discussion, which entails choosing the book (sometimes the hostess chooses to include other members in the choice), bringing light refreshments, and facilitating the discussion. Please consider joining us. Meetings are held generally on a Wednesday at TBA following minyan, which we encourage members to attend. This year s meeting dates are: September 11 October 23 November 14 December 4 January 15 The Almond Tree February 19 March 26 April 23 May 28 June 25 Don't feel that you have to finish or even have read the book to profit from the discussions. 5 The Voice of Sisterhood 2013-14 Torah Fund Campaign, Merle Carrus, Chairperson Welcome to another year of Nashua area Sisterhood. We will continuing our efforts to support Women's League for Conservative Judaism in their support of the Rabbinical students at Jewish Theological Seminaries in New York, L.A. and Jerusalem. Through our pledges, we each have the personal privilege of making it possible for a student to become a leader, and to foster the continuity of Conservative/Masorti Judaism by becoming a partner in this project. Each of us is helping to create the vision that will sustain the Jewish community for decades to come. There are many ways to support the Seminary financially; by making a $180.00 contribution you will receive the beautiful Torah Fund pin of the year. The theme for this year's pin is Mishpachah (Family) You can even become a fan of Torah Fund on Facebook!

There are three ways to participate: Honor friends or family by sponsoring Bima flowers for a special occasion - anniversary, graduation, special birthday, etc. Minimum Donation: $80 Send Chai certificate cards to let a friend or relative know that you are thinking of them. Minimum Donation: $18 Send a beautiful card with your special message. Minimum Donation: $9 Contact Diane Toth (889-5234). Simcha Club Sisterhood s Simcha Club supports the special birthday celebration and Oneg held on the first Friday or each month at the Family Service. Honor your child s birthday!!! 7 The Voice of Sisterhood Semi-Annual Rummage Sale, Ricki Klopfer, Chairperson It's never too early to start collecting items for our FALL RUMMAGE SALE slated for October 29 (Setup Day) and October 30 (Sale Day). Please place containers in your closets, basement, garage, pantry, etc. to start collecting items for our sale! Clothing and coats in good condition (no stains or tears!) from infants on, jewelry and accessories such as purses, scarves, hats, gloves and mittens, housewares, small appliances, bedding, art and decorative pieces, books, toys and games, music, movies, music, lawn and garden tools... if you can carry it, we can sell it. Please, NO text books, shoes or boots, or items we can't easily carry or fit in a car. VOLUNTEERING at the rummage sale is a BLAST!! On Set-Up Day it s fun to see old and make new FRIENDS, see and sort the donated stuff--and often find treasures to take home, and have a delicious LUNCH served to us in the beautiful Temple Gallery. The Sale Day is exciting for the rush of shoppers, selling items, seeing clients that have been coming for years plus enjoying the young families and their kids, catching-up with our Temple FRIENDS, and of course, dining in the Temple Gallery for lunch. ONEG/KIDDUSH Sponsor an Oneg or Kiddush to honor a special person/occasion. Minimum Donation: $108. Contact the TBA office to schedule.
