We need your baby s full name and spelling. Meet in the Sanctuary at 9 AM.

From the Pastor "His hand stuck to the sword." (2 Samuel 23:10, NKJV) I've always felt that one problem for many new Christians is that they believe once they've come to Christ, their days of trouble, struggle, temptation, and failure are over. Only problem with that is I can't find that teaching in scripture regardless of what Joel Osteen preaches to his thirty thousand member congregation. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not asking for trouble. I'm just saying that not only do we need God in Jesus Christ for salvation, but we need Him to get through each and every day of life. Think about this if life was perfect after we came to saving grace in Jesus Christ, then why would we need Him? What would we need Him for? Eleazar, one of David's "three mighty men," was the kind of man who wouldn't quit. When the Philistines attacked, we read, "Then the men of Israel retreated, but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought a great victory that day. (NIV). What a picture! His hand stuck (or froze) to the sword. Sounds like a man that did need God's help. It was God that brought the victory, by the way. But God brought the victory through a faithful servant who refused to give up! So stick with it and God will give you victory. When you and I give in to discouragement and quit, what more can He do for us? Truett Cathy is not only a committed Christian, he's one of the world's most successful businessmen. He started "Chick-fil-A" with one small diner and it grew to more than 150 restaurants, making it the second largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in America. As of September 2010, in Forbes Magazine's listing of billionaires, Cathy was number 380 in the United States with a net worth of 1.3 billion dollars. And this was achieved while remaining closed on Sundays, which is one of the busiest sales days of the week. In his autobiography he tells of being so tongue-tied he could hardly put two words together. Three weeks after he opened his first store it burned to the ground. When he finally got his second store, his brothers, who were his partners, were all killed in a plane crash. People advised him to quit. But instead he decided to trust God and keep trying. As a result his business employs thousands and feeds millions every day. Truett Cathy took his setbacks and turned them into stepping stones. So we also must stick with it, not give up, let our 'hand freeze to the sword,' and keep trusting God. He'll bring the victory. That much I know from His promises. God loves each of you and so do I! We'll see you at church this Sunday. In HIM, During May, we are collecting 110 tubes of toothpaste for Operation Christmas Child. We also need more soap & washcloths. Please place your items in the box in the front foyer or give money donations and we will purchase the items for you. Thanks!
