For your prayers this week Collect for the Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity Almighty God, whose only Son has opened for us a new and living way into your presence: give us pure hearts and steadfast wills to worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen Those to be christened Oliver Gell and Riley Popplewell Those to be married: Lord Jesus Christ, bless those engaged to be married. May their hopes be realised and their love for each other deepen and grow, that through them your name may be glorified Those who are unwell: Martin Over, Sheila Hester, Pete Robinson and McCorley Duncan (Michael & Pam Over s Great Grandson). Those who have died: Into your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. Anniversaries of death: Reginald Ashley, Jean Fisher and Vera Slough (18th); Francis Arthur Bennett (21st); Harry Stacey (23rd). A prayer for those caught up in tragedy and disaster: O Lord our God, source of all goodness and love, accept the fervent prayers of your people; in the multitude of your mercies look with compassion upon all who turn to you for help; for you are gracious, O lover of souls, and to you we give glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen ---------------------------------- New Shed The new shed has now been erected and very smart it looks indeed. How long will it be before there s a cry of, The shed s full, we need another one! It was only bought, and erected, due to the generosity of some members of the congregation and to them we owe our thanks. 3

Harvest Festival Weekend Next weekend our church Harvest Festival celebrations will be taking place. There will be a Harvest Barn Dance on Saturday 23 rd tember (See below) and special Harvest Festival services on Sunday 24 th tember. On that day we will be thinking not only about the harvest, but about the work of the Fareham and Gosport Food Bank, which we support as a church. Please bring dried or tinned food, or toiletries, to give as a gift that day. All gifts will be given to the Food Bank. Message from the St Faith s Flower Team:- The Flower Team work hard to make the church look attractive for special occasions and any financial contributions towards flowers for Harvest displays would be greatly appreciated. There is a donations box on the table at the back of the church. Thank you. 4

Barn Dance News There are now enough raffle prizes for the Barn Dance and so a very big THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed. You have been very kind indeed. Barn Dance tickets are still available. Please buy them after today s services because it helps with the catering arrangements. However, if you decide later on to come to the Barn Dance then tickets will still be available from the Parish Office. If you have already bought tickets please consider inviting friends and family - the more, the merrier! Brown Gift Aid Weekly Envelopes It would be a great help, when completing the brown Gift Aid envelopes for weekly giving if your address has the minimum of the house number/name and full post code. If you live in a block of flats, please write the flat number, building name and also the post code. Apart from Portchester, I managed to cycle to all participating churches in the Fareham & Gosport Deanery. Once all sponsorship is paid, I will have collected just over 300 and there will be Gift Aid to add to this. Thank you again for your support. AND A BIG WELL DONE TO YOU IAN.
