Lord, Secretary / Dialog Editor Pastor s Message May and June are fantastic months for good weather in our part of the country. There is a lot happening in our secular lives with Mother s Day, Father s Day, and the start of summer season s activities. Also, the Rummage Sale at our own church, which is important for us. The world wide church has a lot going on as well with celebrating the Ascension of Christ, and the celebration of the beginnings of the Christian church known as Pentecost. Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit came down on the disciples and other Christians, ten days after Jesus ascension to heaven. This year Pentecost is on continued on page 2
Page 2 May-June 2017 Pastor s Message continued from page 1 June 4, which is 50 days after Easter. Christ s bodily ascension to heaven, on May 25, is the fulfillment of the promise of eternal life for Christians, when we join Christ in heaven after our death. But even though Jesus left us physically and went to heaven, He didn t leave us completely alone. He left us the Holy Spirit, which we celebrate on Pentecost Sunday, which is June 4 this year. Jesus is not with us here on earth in bodily form, but we do have the spiritual form of our God to help us in our earthly journey. Many times if we aren t looking carefully enough we miss the activities of the Holy Spirit. So, for the months of May and June please be on the look out for the Holy Spirit in and around your neighborhood or wherever you may travel and share it with the rest of our church family on Sunday mornings for our God-sightings.
