Sound Booth Schedule Ps 119:11, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (KJV) How many days out of the week do you give God? I ve been reading a good book lately called Touchdown Shawn Alexander. Shawn was a running back for the University of Alabama back in the late 90 s and early 2000. He was a very devout Christian young man. One day one of his Christian teammates asked him; Shawn, how many days do you give to God, and how many days do you give to Satan? If you go to church just on Sundays how man days does that give God and how many days does that give Satan? Just one to God and six to Satan, Shawn replied! The teammate kept on investigating; he asked him about his weekly devotions, Wednesday Bible study and daily devotions. Shawn concluded that He was only giving God only one good day out of the week. The rest of the week Satan had opportunity to tempt him and sidetrack him into other activities. The teammate challenged Shawn with the importance of daily devotions and the memorization of God s Word. Shawn admitted that it as a difficult discipline especially being a college student and a football player. The teammate suggested to make it easier for him, since his football jersey number was Thirty seven, that he read something every day associated with the number thirty seven. For example Genesis Chapter 37 and so on. Shawn committed to this habit and really never understood its impact until in his freshman year they were playing LSU. Since he was a redshirt freshman. He did not have any hope of playing in the game until the starting running back got injured. The offensive coordinator called his name and put him in early in the 2nd quarter. The teammate that encouraged him to memorize scripture asked Shawn, what he had learned from his experience. It wasn t until them that Shaw had realized that the Scripture he had been memorizing was Psalm 37:4, Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Shawn kneeled on his knees with tears in his eyes, not caring what other thought to give thanks to God realizing all he wanted to do was play football like he did in high school. Romans 15:5-6 says May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV) I want to focus on the word unity as we have a GREAT opportunity to bring this closer to happening in our community. On Saturday, March 11th, 3-8pm our youth group along with the NOYA (North Okaloosa Youth Association, which we belong to) includes African American church youth groups, will come together for a cookout at Camp Okaloosa. There will be games, fellowship, hotdogs, and devotions and a campfire. This is a GREAT time for us to get to know other believers and invite nonbeliev- ers as well. As we do this it will help us to be in unity and encouragement. It will also help us to accomplish our desire to glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. I feel we definitely need this in our community as well as in our nation and world. Please prayerfully consider your involvement in this gathering. Another GREAT opportunity in March is our youth ministering at Children in Crisis on Thursday, March 16, which is during Spring Break. We will meet at LOBC at 11 am and leave to go to Ft. Walton at Noon and return around 4pm. We will lead children who are less fortunate than we are, having been removed from their homes for various reasons. There will be games, crafts, Bible stories and music. Come and help make a difference in these children s lives. Before you go to bed on Saturday night March 11 make sure you turn your clocks AHEAD one hour so you don t miss Bible study and Worship on Sunday. Don t forget our regular youth group on Wednesdays (WYN) at 6:30pm. Invite an unchurched friend and let s see what God does in our lives. As always, remember, Jesus loves you and I do too. Dennis

Amelia and her husband secretly joined the last caravan headed west in pursuit of California gold. Good St. Patrick INTRODUCING HOPE FOR OUR HEROES! On March 17, many churches, especially those with a large Irish population, will celebrate the life of St. Patrick. He grew up in a Christian home in Britain, but wasn t very religious until a major event changed his life. As a teen, he was captured and sold into slavery in Ireland, but escaped to Gaul (France) after six years. The years of enslavement strengthened his faith. He later wrote, In that strange land [Ireland], the Lord opened my unbelieving eyes. He was led by God s voice to return to Ireland where he converted people to Christianity tribe by tribe. Because Ireland is called the Emerald Isle, those who celebrate St. Patrick s Day will wear something green. Some Christians will even color food or drink green. Many Christians will also eat corned beef and cabbage and decorate tables with shamrocks. Shamrocks are actually three-leaf (not fourleaf) clover plants. Legend has it that St. Patrick used the three leaves to teach about the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Around the world, the men and women of the U.S. military are defending our freedom and helping to fight the war on terror. Many of these soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines live in cramped quarters with other personnel, in very uncomfortable and challenging circumstances, working hard and putting in long hours every day too tired to read a Bible, even if they have one. The Military BibleStick reaches these service men and women, deployed in some of the most dangerous areas of the world, with God s Word in audio It can go with them and sustain them in even the most difficult circumstances. Together we can bring the message of hope to our heroes by sponsoring $25; this sponsors one service member and their family. If you feel led to give just drop your sponsor in the offering plate marked "Biblestick" Kristin Kennedy Florentina Ene If you have been attending Live Oak Baptist Church for awhile and have decided that this is where you want to call your church home, you may be asking how do I become a member? For more information about church membership see Pastor Jerry Nelson or call the church office to set up a time to meet with one of our pastors. Relentless prayers Are you reluctant to bring the same prayers to your heavenly Father over and over? Maybe you don t want to trouble God; after all, he already knows what you re going to say. Plus, you re not worthy to ask for anything! If those thoughts surround you, think about Patrick, Ireland s patron saint. At 16, he was dragged from his home to be a slave. Patrick tended sheep in the cold. Hungry and miserable, he begged God for mercy and deliverance. In his Confessio, Patrick recalls praying a hundred times in the day and almost as many at night. Without ceasing, he told God of his needs, wants, thanksgiving and confession. And God heard his prayers. Pray relentlessly. God is always listening! MaryAnn Sundby AVAILABLE NOW IN THE LOBC LIBRARY
