C A L V A R Y C O M M U N I T Y B I B L E F E L L O W S H I P BRIDGING THE GAP Quarterly Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 1 October 2016 PASTOR S PEN THE BIG PICTURE Our Vision and Mission Well Saints it has just been over nine years that we have been together worshipping our Lord. I remember when He moved my family and I out here to Snowflake, and once we arrived I was kind of dumbfounded as to why here? But, after much prayer and fellowship, God revealed His vision for the White Mountains, specifically the Snowflake and Taylor communities. We are reminded in Matthew 28:19, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you The first thing that must be accomplished is that we are to personally be in a right relationship with God and then one another. We are told by Jesus in John 13:35; By this all will know that you are My disciples (followers), if you have love for one another. Second, we must have a passion for the lost, just as our Messiah does. Not wishing that any would perish. Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:11 that, For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. Hopefully, this would take each one of us back to how and when we first encountered Christ. I believe that there is nothing more important in this world than to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We know that all things rest in His hands, and that He is also the hope bearer and Salvation giver. We should all be zealous to share with others the transformation that Christ has done in our lives. He who has taken us from sickness to health, drunkenness to sobriety, from darkness to light. Even though we are not worthy of it, He was still willing to heal and restore those who have called upon His name. Our vision and our mission is to be a picture of Christ and His love in the White Mountains. AWANA Awana is a scripture based program that reaches children 3 years of age all the way through high school. Every week children come prepared to read scriptures, play games and listen to worship. Every Sunday is a two hour night of fun learning of our savior and how to better follow him. Not only does Awana reach out to the children but leaders themselves learn how to disciple to others. Awana is a program that once you join you can always be involved! One thing needed to have a successful Awana club is leaders. Anyone that has a heart for children will benefit from this program. Awana always needs adults willing to come in and listen to what the children are learning. We also have needs for council time leaders, game leaders and worship leaders. If you have any further questions you can contact Alli Ward at 928-205-3645. Have you experienced God s Grace? Please read the testimony below as written by one who has! I grew up in a Christian home. I had a great childhood and from all outward appearances I should have never started abusing drugs and alcohol. I wasn't even allowed to watch PG-13 movies. However, in hindsight, I know the exact moment that changed me. I liked a boy in my youth group that was 3 years older than me. It seemed harmless at the time. I was allowed to hang out with him at his house because our moms were friends. His mom didn't watch us like my mom did, and soon enough I was pressured into going too far because if I loved him I would. I was 12, he was 15. I felt awful, dirty and worthless. I remember thinking how could God love me. I started drinking and smoking pot in Jr high. I thought why does it matter I'm a screw up. I knew that the ladies in my church talked bad about my sisters for wearing too much eyeliner so what would they think of me? I continued to do drugs and after high school I moved on to meth. My life was terrible. I was with an abusive man one night who wanted to take my car to Phoenix but, I had gotten a job and I really wanted to get my life together, so I told him no. He grabbed our daughter and acted like he was going to kidnap her. I went into the house and got our roommates gun and held it to his head and told him if he didn't give me my daughter that I would shoot him. I meant it and he knew it! He gave her to me and I left with her. I decided to move back in with TESTIMONIAL my mom that day. She was going out of town and I had a job so she took Savanna with her. That night after work I was going to get my stuff. I had kept a tiny bit of meth in my wallet because I was scared to quit cold turkey. When I get to the end of the road I lived on I saw that there were police surrounding my house but I thought I'm ok. I have been sober for a few days and I'm just getting my clothes. I remembered that I had stuff in my wallet so I threw it out the window. I drove up the hill, immediately an officer was yelling at me to get out with my hands where he could see them. I did what he said. I had nothing to hide. He asked to look in my car. I said ok, and there on the floor was the drugs I had just thrown out! They blew back in! He started yelling at me and asking me where my daughter was and I told him with my mom. He didn't believe me and at that moment I thought what kind of horrible person has a child and does drugs? I always kept her away from things, but what about when her own dad was going to kidnap her because I wouldn't let him use the car to go get more drugs. I went to jail that night and I'm so grateful that I did. God in his sovereignty knew that I had to get busted. I'm grateful for the wind in Snowflake that blew the seal back into my car. I'm grateful that the police officer yelled at me about my daughter. I slept the first 12 hours. I woke up and dreaded making the call I knew I had to make to my Mom. How could I call her? A lady started walking towards me, a lady I had seen reading her Bible the day before. The thoughts going through my head were oh no here we go, she is going to preach at me, and tell me how bad I am. She told me instead that God loved me, and I said how could he, I sell drugs to kids? She promised that he would forgive me. I told her that I taught a 16 year old girl to shoot up. She told me the gospel like I had never heard it before. And I heard about God s grace. Grace? Why would God make a way for me, a dirty rotten sinner? She prayed with me and I received Jesus as my personal savior. I cried and thanked God for his Amazing grace! I have been sober for 15 years. I can't hear the song Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone without tearing up, because I HAVE BEEN SET FREE and it's awesome! I have an amazing husband who loves Jesus and our family with all of his heart. We have 9 children and we are trying our best to raise them to honor God. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Christa Tague Psalms 37:4 NKJV Page 4 B R I D GI N G T HE G AP

Our Lord Christ Jesus has always been "looking for good men." But he is looking for as many Good men as he can get. Guys you are those good men, and Christ wants you!!! The Men's Ministry of Calvary Chapel has one major objective, and that is to serve Christ and we do that by serving his body, his church. You are needed!! As Paul wrote in Colossians Colossians 3:10-12 (NKJV) 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering; God has called you to service, answer the call.
