As with new things there is always a glitch or two to be fixed. Several called and informed us they could not access the calendar. That has been resolved. Also note, on the menu bar there are two home buttons. We hope to resolve this issue in the next few days. Please send us your information, to place in the newsletter, calendar and/or online. Thursday evening May 18 a meeting was held to discuss the possibility of doing Sunday School Mentoring in the Association. Brother Durwood Miller from Screven introduced the program to those in attendance. To participate in the program we will need a minimum of five churches to commit to the process. Please contact me or Brother Ron Ross for more information or to commit to the program. Several years ago I had the privilege of going through this program. In my opinion the SS Mentoring program maybe the best program offered by Georgia Baptist. As this newsletter is published some of our churches are having, just completed, or are getting ready for Vacation Bible School. VBS is one of the best outreach tools available to the church. Please be involved with this wonderful ministry. Our Men s Ministry is making a shift from quarterly meeting of a meal and speaker to doing local mission projects. The first mission project will be at Connors Baptist (the date will be announced in the next few days) which will include helping the Church with an electrical wiring project. If your church has a need please contact me or Brother Steve West. Summer is upon us. And yes, summer can become very busy in church life with VBS, Camps and other activities. But, I pray that our churches will see an out pouring of the Lord and many will be saved and the saved strengthened. Hello All, We have had a fabulous Month! Not only did we celebrate Mother s Day, we also had Graduation and Memorial Day! Wow, that s a lot! We also had the Associational Fishing Rodeo, and the Men s Ministry Fish Fry! I noticed that many missed it and you missed an awesome set of events. There were loads of fish and fellowship to be had! Thank you, Cobbtown Baptist, for hosting the event. Brother John Haggard submitted an article for the newsletter about the fishing derby and I will share it now. Dear T.E.B.A: The Tattnall-Evans Baptist Association held the Men and Boys fishing rodeo again on Saturday, May 27 th, 2017 from 8:00am to 12:00pm at Don Sikes pond in Cobbtown, GA. There were eight participants: Wayne Richardson, Nathan Gordon, Jake Gordon, Zach Nesmith, Ty Driggers, Spenser Hinson, Jase McNair, and Asher McNair. Of the eight participants, Nathan Gordon from Antioch Baptist won a Zebco 33 Combo for the Biggest Fish, Zach Nesmith, also from Antioch won a Zebco 33 combo for the most fish, and Jake Gordon, Antioch, won the Grand Prize Drawing of a Tackle Box full of fishing gear! There was a total of 54 fish that were cleaned and served, not to mention the many that were missed that s why it is called fishing not catching! We, the men of Tattnall-Evans Baptist Association feel ourselves blessed to be part in making these boys Fishers of Men. Many thanks to the Fathers who took the time to bring their sons to the Fishing Rodeo. Special thanks to ARMSTRONG CRICKET FARM in Glennville, GA for their donation of crickets, boxes, and several fishing rods and fishing lures. Everybody went home with prizes. And, thanks to Dale Sikes, Keith Harvey, George Brock, Ray Brown, Murray Benefield, Freddie Gardner and Wendy West for the assistance in coordinating this event. Psalms 37:4 says: Delight thyself in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. I know the desires of the Fathers is to see their sons grow up to be successful servants of God. ~John Haggard Conner s Baptist Church~ Thank you all who attended and may God richly bless you! On Thursday, May 4th, the Sugar Time Banquet and The National Day of Prayer were held at Evergreen Baptist Church. Mike Myers from the Baptist Children's Home in Baxley, and his assistant, Andy, arrived at Evergreen at 4:30 pm with the trailer to load the Sugar & sugar related items. The Sugar Time Banquet was a salad supper with desserts & drinks. Sandra Powell, Director of Associational WMU, welcomed all the churches, and Rev Jerald Dorr blessed the food. The traditional Sugar Time Banquet was delicious and the fellowship was wonderful. After the meal everyone went into the church sanctuary for the meeting & The National Day of Prayer. Sandra Powell gave the announcements, and Rev Dorr led everyone in The National Day of Prayer. This was a night of praying for our country, churches, our president, and for one another. Rev Jerald and Mrs Peggy Dorr's daughter, Angela Hartley, sang "In The Garden. Jenny Massey, our guest speaker, was awesome!! She presented a beautiful and incredible message on prayer. The association had fifteen churches participate in Sugar Time this year. The 3 churches accumulating the most points were recognized at the meeting. 50,269 points was the grand total for the sugar & sugar related items. $5072.00 was donated in money for the Children's Home. That being said The Baptist Children's Home was the Big Winner!! On Thursday, May 18th, the Associational WMU held the WMU Planning Meeting for 2018 at Connor's Baptist Church. A big thank you to Connor s WMU led by Kathy Hill for the delicious meal and beautifully decorated social hall. Seventeen ladies were in attendance from eight churches. Sandra Powell presided over the meeting. Kathy Hill, WMU Director at Connor's, gave the blessing for the delicious food. Janice Alberson read the birthdays of the missionaries having birthdays that day. Then she asked for prayer requests. The 2018 Calendar was prepared with every event filled by different churches volunteering to be the host. God is good all the time!! Our next Associational Team Meeting will be in October, 2017.
