Contact with God Week of prayer and fasting From Pastor Nate For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son Romans 8.29 Thank you for joining me this week for prayer and fasting. I am expecting the Holy Spirit to move in us all to make us more like Jesus Christ. This is the goal of the week. That we would be more like Jesus and this week would help us. For this to happen we need contact with God. Close, powerful, uncomfortable, and freeing! This year I feel like the Lord would have us take this week of prayer and fasting to pray for many things. But I feel like we are to focus on praying for ourselves. That we would have Contact with God. That we would be more like Christ. There is so much that the Lord would like to do in us, so we can be wholly and readily available for his service, and to glorify him in everything we do, to be transformed to be more like Christ. This is the focus for the week. We will have all the prayer cards out, and encourage you to pray as you are lead, as needs come to your heart also. Please check out the schedule of prayer and come and pray with us. The church is open all day. The prayer room is open for you to come and just get alone with God. If you cannot make it. Join us in heart with this guide. This guide is set up for Monday-Friday, of the week of prayer, but you may want to use it for a couple weeks straight or more, then pass it on to someone else? Use it as a guide, not as the law. Be Spirit-led in your praying. Bring a journal, and write down what Father says to you. Journal impressions and thoughts. Write out your prayers from the deepest parts of your heart. Review it all, reread it. pray about the things in your journal for the coming weeks. This is your week of greater transformation. Let s be more like Jesus, Nate Elarton Philippians 3.7-16 NLT 7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! Pressing toward the Goal 12 I don t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

15 Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you. 16 But we must hold on to the progress we have already made. Monday Personal Holiness Scripture: Isaiah 6 The great prophet Isaiah was supernaturally ushered into God s presence. His initial response of awe, worship, and then, sin. Sin separates, distracts, and harms our walk with God, and our life on this earth. Too often we tolerate our own sin, while we judge harshly other s sin. God wants us to do an inventory on our life, speech, walk, and lives so the blood of Jesus will forgive us, cleanse us, and make us more like Christ. The following questions are prayer reflection questions. Is there a habit, vice, stronghold, or addiction controlling you, stealing your time, money or relationships, that is sinful, that you need free from. (swearing, secrets, alcohol, painkillers, TV watching, work, pornography, etc) Read 2 Corinthians 10. Do you struggle with Pride? Do you have to control others? Do you have to always be right? Do you always have to give your opinion? Do you talk too much? Must you be noticed and recognized? Do you offend easily? Is God calling you to faithfulness in a greater way in areas of your life? How have you been treating your family? Is the love of Jesus flowing to your family? Journal the areas that Jesus wants to cleanse and renew you in your life. Prayerfully read and pray through these Scriptures. 2 Peter 1.3,4 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world s corruption caused by human desires. 1 John 1.8-10 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. Tuesday The Fruit of the Spirit Scripture to Read: Galatians 5 When we are becoming more like Jesus there will be evidence or fruit in our life. This fruit comes from the power of the Holy Spirit, working in us, transforming and changing us to be like Christ. These things will flow

from our mouths, actions, words, and our life as a whole. Many times these can go neglected, because we don t pray and review them. This fruit is what Jesus is like. This is what we need to be like. Pray through each one. Ask God to give you more of each fruit listed in Galatians 5.22 (below). Journal specific areas, places, in your life where you need them more. Look to the Holy Spirit to give you strength and power to have these just flow from your life. Thank Father that you are going to change and grow in each one. Your spouse, family, friends, coworkers will see the difference! Galatians 5.22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! John 15.9-12 I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father s commandments and remain in his love. 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. Wednesday Desires Philippians 3.7-14 Our desires have a lot to do with our behavior. We try to change our behavior instead of having God change our desires. Sin and temptations come when our desires go south. We get our eyes off of Christ. Our fellowship with Him is distant. Our mind and heart stray from the things of God. The truths of His Word and the faith that the Word of God gives us, are absent, and then it happens, our desires open the door for the enemy to come in with temptation, and we are so spiritually weak and powerless, we roll over with little resistance. This is not God s will for us. He can change our desires, our passions, and our fruits. We must desire Jesus more than anything this world has to offer. We must be so in love for Christ daily that His goodness, presence, and power are what we crave after and desire. Once our primary desire is settled and we love Him before anything, the other secondary desires from Him will come in our life as God wills. What are your desires? List them in your journal? Are there any desires that are good, but not now? Are there desires that must be repented of and ask God to rid you off? Read the Scriptures below and pray your desires will be for Jesus first. Pray that you will not trigger or wet your interests on things that will steal your desire for Jesus first. Psalm 37.4,5 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.5 the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. Commit your way to Psalm 73.25, 26 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Galatians 5.16,17

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. Thursday Leaving Old Life 2 Corinthians 5 When we come to Jesus he erases our sin and gives us a new future! He does not hold our past against us! We are free from who we used to be. He wants to make us not just new on the inside, clean and forgiven, but he wants to change our life that we and others can observe on the outside. But sometimes we cannot get over our past. The shame and guilt of sin, mistakes, and foolish errors, plague us, and rob us of our future. We begin to believe that our past dictates our future. In Jesus, our past does not dictate our future and we cannot let our past and old life rob us of what the Lord wants for us to come. Christ makes all things new! He has greater things in store for your life and your family! A clean break from the past and the shame of it is necessary. Our past is gone, our future is His, and our eternity will be forever! What a deal Jesus purchased for us on the cross. He took our place and we get all the benefits, doing nothing, but believing. So leave your past. Be the new person Christ intends you to be! Pray about it right now! Move on from anything in your past holding you back. Take time to verbally, out loud, thank Jesus for saving you, forgiving all of your sin, and giving you a new future. Ask the Power of the Holy Spirit to free you from anything you are struggling with in your past. Guilt, shame, and even the rotten feelings of regret. Let the love of Jesus and His joy pour over you. Thank him that your past will not be held against you. Thank him for being crucified for our pasts. Give Him your future. Ask Him to be glorified in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and baptize you and give you all the power you need to live in the newness of life. Thank Him for eternal life. Thank Him for Heaven. That we will never die. That we are redeemed and sons and daughter of God, fully adopted by him and He is our Father! Don t look back. Don t dabble in the past. Be the new creation you are. Walk in faith. Walk in power. Speak faith, live faith, and enjoy learning greater depths of faith as you are new in Jesus! Journal your joy. Write down and enjoy your victory. Read these verses and rejoice, worship, and praise Christ! This will give you greater power to overcome the past and live in the new creation you are! Romans 8.1,2 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death John 5.24 I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. Ephesians 5.21-24 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God truly righteous and holy. Romans 6.4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Friday

Living Missional 2 Corinthians 5 Christ has not just saved us so we can avoid Hell. He wants you to be his representative here on earth. He wants your life to proclaim His reality and existence. He wants your life to be a life that is navigated by mission. Life is more than just work, bills, busyness, retirement, then we die! He has a mission for us as we go through the seasons of life. He wants to flow through us. He wants people to see Jesus in our lives, voices, relationships, character, integrity, ethics, finances. He wants us to be available to speak and to tell others of our Hope in Christ. He desires that we help people know Him, for Jesus is the only Way the Truth, and the Life. So he has a daily mission for you? I want you to try and start a new habit. Every morning, before you get out of bed, pray that you would live missional, ready and looking for opportunities to serve, speak, and show Jesus to this world! We need to be the church, and not attend the church. It starts with you. It starts today. Are you ready to live every day as a spiritual adventure? Are you ready to see and feel the Holy Spirit using you to point others to Christ? Are you ready? Christ died for us all and wants all to be saved. His love and mission must control us and guide us in life. Journal what this verse means to you. For Christ s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 2 Corinthians 5.14 Who has Christ put in your life for your mission? Pray for them right now. Will you start the new habit of living missional? Pray God helps you right now? Are you serving? Can you serve somewhere? Is there a need you know about? Pray for your unsaved people right now and journal their names as the Holy Spirit bring them to your heart and mind. Pray you will have an opportunity to speak, encourage, and love them in Christ, pointing them to Jesus. 1 Peter 3.15,16 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ John 20.21 Again he said, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you. 22 Then he breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit John 15.16 "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you
