First Baptist Church Vision Statement The First Baptist Church is the body of Christ, nurturing all parts of the body within, bringing Christ to others and others to Christ. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Church Covenant We, the members of First Baptist Church Bloomfield, having been led by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, most sincerely and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ. We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit: To attend the services of FBC Bloomfield regularly for spiritual nourishment, growth and encouragement: To walk together and watch over one another in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in times of sickness and difficulty; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation; To contribute cheerfully and regularly, according to our ability, to the support of FBC Bloomfield and its various activities; to support the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world; To strive in our family lives to make Jesus Christ the center of our homes; To cultivate a life of devotion and consecration to God; To aid and assist prayerfully, loyally and affectionately, the ministers and others who seek to strengthen the witness of FBC Bloomfield; To conduct ourselves in accordance with the principles of our Lord, in all our social and business relationships; We enter into this covenant under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, prayerfully asking for Divine guidance and help in this our earnest endeavor.

We invite you to sign the attendance register as it is passed your way and, if you are visiting with us for the first time, we have information for you regarding life at First Baptist. Hoosier Hills Emmaus Community Gathering May 8 Our church is hosting the upcoming Emmaus Community Gathering. Everyone is welcome to attend even if you have never attended an Emmaus weekend. If you re thinking of attending an Emmaus Walk, this would be a great way for you to learn a little more about the weekend! Dinner will begin around 6:30 PM and a worship and fellowship time will follow afterwards. Please bring a covered dish to share, as this will be a pitch-in dinner! Baby Dedication May 10 We will be celebrating a baby dedication on Mother's Day, May 10, during the morning worship service. If you have a child (or grandchild) to be dedicated to the Lord on that Sunday, please let Nathan know no later than May 3. We will pray God's blessing on those children and their parents and families. Congregational Meeting Agenda Items May 14 Our next FBC Congregational Meeting will be Thursday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. We have two main items on the agenda. First, the Trustees have identified costly ceiling insulation damage which cannot be repaired until fall. We need to begin discussing our options to pay for this project. Second, after functioning without a Clerk for the last 16 ½ months, the Council recommends that we change the Constitution so that our paid church Secretary can attend all Council and Congregational meetings as a non-voting Recording Secretary. Please be praying about both of these matters and then join us for the meeting on May 14. Thank you! Youth Sunday and Graduate Lunch May 17 Please join us Sun. May 17th as the Youth of the church lead us in worship. Athan Lamson will bring the sermon. We will recognize our graduating Seniors: Rosie Allgood, Chrissy Buccola, Monica Hudson, Athan Lamson, Taylor Templeton, and possibly Danielle Jackson. We will have a Taco Salad Lunch following church.

Directory Photo Shoots - May 16 & 17 1:00-5:00pm Please remember to sign up for your directory photo; sheets are on the library counter. If you prefer, you may also submit your own photo to Brenda at secretary@fbcbloom.org. Future dates may be available. Let s Go Camping! Camp schedules and reservation forms are located on the library counter or you can print them directly from the camp website at www.indiancreek.com. Our church will pay one half of the registration fee for children attending FBC. Registration forms and your half of the fee need to be turned in THREE WEEKS before your camp date. Checks should be made out to First Baptist Church. If a camp scholarship is needed see Pastor Nathan or Jeff Coffin. Summer Special Music As the season for the choir ensembles winds down it is once again time for a summer of special music! All musicians are invited to share your talents with music that adds to meaningful worship. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Choir room. Alternatively, you may contact either Brenda Flanagin or Steve Clark. Festival of Music June 7 The annual First Baptist Church Festival of Music, to celebrate the completion of the music season for the choirs, will be on June 7. Following a light lunch in the Fellowship Hall we will gather in the Sanctuary for the celebration. We anticipate the music to begin by 1:00 pm. Plan to attend and enjoy ensemble music presented by the Kingdom Kids, the Adult Choir, the Handbell Choir, and the Trio. Additionally, there will be instrumental solos by a number of the church family, including James Maverick on piano. We welcome any and all musicians to participate! If you have an instrumental piece, a song you'd like to sing, or a signing please contact Brenda Flanagin or Steve Clark. Thank you All of us at Bright Beginning Daycare would like to say THANK YOU!!!!!! to all who contributed to our buggy fund. We are now the proud owners of a brand new 6-seater infant buggy. The babies are so happy to be able to stroll around inside and outside safely.

My God, Why? John 11:1-3 Lord, the one you love is sick. Maybe you have prayed this kind of prayer and have wrestled with the emotions of waiting for a loved one to be healed. How have you felt when you ve experienced this? My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Since Jesus himself prayed this way (Matt. 27:46; Mark 15:34), we have permission to pray this way, too. Why might we hesitate to talk to God like this? When you ve found yourself praying prayers like these, what promises from God have been helpful to you? How have you experienced God s presence while waiting for these kinds of prayers to be answered? You are encouraged to have an honest conversation with God about your answers to these questions.
