TAC Times January 2019 Prayer for the New Year (Collect for Epiphany) O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we he will Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Sunday, January 6, 2019 Sunday Christian Education Resumes at : Our Children s Sunday School resumes with our K 2 nd, 3 rd 5 th, and Youth classes, as well as our Nursery/Preschool care for our precious little ones. A new Adult Class, The Wurmbrand Series, begins on the 6 th! How could Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, founders of The Voice of the Martyrs, live a victorious Christian life despite the lifethreatening opposition they faced? They walked in victory because they trusted Christ and believed the truth of Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. And YOU CAN, too. Join us for an outstanding 6-part video series and discussion time facilitated by Mary Frank that explores what we can learn from the lives of these courageous believers, as we run the race that Christ has set before us. This class will take a break for the bishop s visit on January 20 th when Bishop Bill will be with us for the 9:30 time. Epiphany: The season of Epiphany begins with the day itself on January 6, 2019. We will hear the scriptures for this holy day read on Sunday, January 6th, so that we are prepared to celebrate this new season of the church year. Coming on the twelfth day of Christmas, Epiphany commemorates the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles in the

persons of the Magi. The word epiphany refers to a sudden and profound understanding of something, a striking realization or comprehension. Our God is infinitely creative in the ways He makes such epiphanies available to us. It may be a scripture or the words of a song that we have heard numerous times that suddenly comes alive for us. It may be the beauty of nature or the laugh of a child that penetrates our immediate thoughts and gives us a glimpse of eternity. May our hearts and minds be open to the epiphanies God has in store for us this year! 1 st Sunday Celebration: Our new year will start out with an opportunity to gather together for food and fellowship. Please bring a covered dish to share after the worship service. Bishop Bill Atwood Visits Transformation for Confirmations The bishop will be with us on Sunday, January 20, 2019 for confirmations! This Confirmation Service will allow baptized adults who are ready and duly prepared to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism and to receive the laying on of hands by the bishop. Confirmed members have the opportunity to participate in a wider variety of ministries such as Altar Guild and Chalice Bearing (serving wine during the Eucharist). If you have not previously been confirmed in the Episcopal or Anglican Church, and desire to identify yourself with the Anglican Church in a deeper way, please contact the office. In conjunction with the Bishop s visit and confirmations, there will be a Confirmation Class from 9 12 on Saturday, January 12th for any adults who are interested in receiving information. This class is mandatory for all adults who wish to be confirmed. At 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th, there will be a dinner with the bishop and his wife for all confirmands and their spouses at the church. Bishop Bill will lead our Adult Sunday School class, with the Confirmation Service to follow as part of our worship on Sunday, January 20 th. Following the Confirmation Service, we will gather for a reception for the bishop and the confirmands in the parish hall. We are asking everyone to help by bringing finger foods savory or sweet to share for this special time together. ACNA Assembly 2019 will be held June 17-19 in Plano, Texas This June, the Anglican Church in North America celebrates its 10th Anniversary with Assembly 2019: Renewing Our Call to the Great Commission, an assembly centered on discipleship and moving forward into our next 10 years as a province. Assembly will be held in Plano, Texas, June 17-19,

2019 and hosted by Christ Church Plano, the site of Archbishop Bob Duncan s installation as the inaugural archbishop in 2009. Keynote speakers Archbishop Foley Beach, Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, James Bryan Smith, Russell Moore, and Ravi Zacharias will join us as we celebrate and help us go deeper into discipleship. To commemorate the occasion, attendees will receive a special edition of the new Revised Catechism and the 2019 Book of Common Prayer. Both will be officially released at Assembly. From now until January 15, receive early bird pricing at $395 per person. Visit disciple2019.com now for more information and to register. AUSTIN STREET CENTER MINISTRY NEWS There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in this land. Deuteronomy 15:11 As I was looking at the title of this column, I thought about changing it to Austin Street Ministry at TAC, or TAC/Austin Street Ministry News, but then thought since all of us here at Transformation are a part of Austin Center Ministry in some way, that would not be necessary. You all participate in feeding the poor by donating money, making cupcakes and cookies, boiling eggs, serving food, giving clothing and other items that are needed. While some of us are more visible in this ministry, it does not mean that we are not equally important and needed. We are starting 2019 off with a visit to Austin Street Center on Wednesday, January 30 and will need your assistance. Then the rest of the year, the dates for taking dinner to the clients of ASC are March 27, May 29, July 31, and then Oct. 30. You can t tell by these dates unless you are looking at a calendar, but we serve Austin Street during the months that have 5 Wednesdays. Sometimes that is 2 months apart, 3 or 4. Don t let it confuse you; we will always let you know when it is time. The newer members of TAC might wonder why we do this ministry and I imagine it is because we have all heard the call of the Lord for this, Go, feed my sheep. It is not a hard ministry and since we all participate, it really doesn t take that much time. We prepare by making different types of salads for sandwiches, purchase sandwich meat and bread, plus there is the fruit, fruit juice, and milk that has to be gathered. Then we meet in the church parish hall in the afternoon on that 5 th Wednesday to make sandwiches, collect cupcakes and cookies brought to the church. We load it up and go to Austin Street Center which is actually on Hickory Street in Dallas (you have to know the history) and then serve the people who are always happy to see us. We have been doing this for over 25 years, even before Transformation was started. We love the people and we love the Lord for His allowing us to minister in this way. If you would like to know more, and perhaps experience all of this for yourself, contact Sharon Parker, Sue Griffin, or Susan Maupin. We are always happy to answer questions and make room for you to help.

THE OSL CORNER by Sharon Parker The Order of St. Luke the Physician is an inter-denominational, international ministry for healing of body, mind and spirit. And these signs will accompany those who believe. In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues, they will place their hands on sick people and they will get well. Mark 16:17, 18b Do you believe that Jesus still heals today as he did when he walked the earth? Well, he does, and we, The Order of St. Luke the Physician, would love to help you discover that truth and learn how you can pray for others to be healed. One way would be to attend the OSL Meetings on the 3 rd Saturday of each month; join OSL and participate in the 26 Healings of Jesus teachings. Another great way would be to register and show up for the OSL Healing Conference, ACTIVATING PRACTICAL PRAYER AND OUR GIFTS on February 22 and 23, 2019 at Transformation Anglican Church! You will be seeing more information about this exciting conference posted on our website, www.transformationac.org. We will also be sharing information in the TAC Times Weekly and in the Sunday bulletins. You can also pick up a registration form from the bulletin board in the Narthex (front entry of the church). We hope you will join with us to hear the Rev. Dr. Jack Sheffield and his wife, Anna Marie, as they teach us more about Jesus and His healings. Both Jack and Anna Marie are excellent instructors in this area, and where they go, healings take place, people are saved, and the Glory of the Lord shows up!! When you register on our website, you will have the option of paying the conference fee ($30 per person, which includes Saturday lunch) with Pay Pal. The OSL Brunch and Meeting for Saturday, January 19, 2019 will begin at 10:00 and end at 11:30. The members of OSL extend an invitation to you to attend this gathering to share a meal with us, learn more about OSL and then whether you are a member or not, to join in with us at the end of the meeting for Soaking Prayer. This is a method of prayer that many love. You sit silently in a chair, normally in a circle but not always, praying while members of OSL pass behind you, listening to the Holy Spirit direct them how to pray for you. While you don t have to express a prayer need, you may do that. By the time the session is over, most will have received prayer from 3 or 4 different ministers. Soaking Prayer will start at 11:30 and last until all who desire prayer have received it. Please join with us. If you desire more information, you may contact me. My phone number is listed in the TAC Member Directory.
