Open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God s people, who are set apart by faith in me. ACTS 26:18 (NLT) Have you ever been camping on a moonless night, where the darkness is so thick you can almost feel it? Where it s so dark you re afraid to take a step, and you can t see to put up your tent? Probably not, since you d never go camping without a good flashlight and lantern! Once the light shines, the frustration and fear of the night vanishes. In his defense before King Agrippa, Paul says that God appointed him to turn the nations from darkness to light (Acts 26:18). Yet, there is a darkness much deeper and more dangerous than physical darkness. Unlike physical darkness, it is a darkness that people are often not even aware of. If the first time they see the light is at judgment day, it will be too late. Jesus is the light of the world. It was Paul s job, and it is ours, to take this light into the darkness. What are the darkest places on earth? They are the places where Jesus, in His people and in His Word, is not. This year at REACH, we will be learning about some of those darkest places, the deepest deceptions of Satan, and how we can shine the light of Jesus there. When His light shines, those who have lived all their lives in bondage will be free. They will come into the glorious freedom of the children of light. How far is your light shining into the darkness? CONNECTING WITH MUSLIMS by Fouad Masri BOOKS I m grateful for Fouad Masri s Connecting with Muslims. This book shows how Christians and Muslims can connect with one another in real relationships of respect and trust. Masri is an Arab Christian and a skilled communicator who can explain the cultural differences and bridge the gap between different worlds. He explains where Muslims are coming from in ways Christians can understand, and he explains Christianity in ways that make sense to Muslims. - Josh McDowell REACH Price: $10 available at the Resource Center SEEKING ALLAH, FINDING JESUS by Nabeel Qureshi Nabeel Qureshi first began studying the Bible in order to challenge it and, incredibly, came to know Jesus as a result.
