Number 336 2457 S.R. 118, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 Phone: 570-477-3688 www.wrgn.com April 2017 Circle the Square with Prayer On May 4, 2017, millions of Christians will gather and unite in prayer for our nation for National Day of Prayer. Our local event, Circle the Square with Prayer, has included participation from over 30 local churches over the past several years. Though the event began in Wilkes- Barre through the vision of several local pastors, this year Circle the Square with Prayer has expanded and will be held on both Public Square in Wilkes-Barre and on Courthouse Square in Scranton. The main event is a prayer service at 6 pm, in which pastors and leaders from local congregations will lead in prayer for our community, our country, and our world. Areas of prayer include government, military, media, business, education, church, and family. Other events during the day will be Prayer Walks at 12 pm and 5 pm and Prayer Walls which will be open from 12 pm until 6 pm. The 60-minute prayer walks, departing from Public S q u a r e i n W i l k e s - B a r r e a n d Courthouse Square in Scranton and moving through the surrounding communities, will be a way to i n t e n t i o n a l ly o b s e r ve p e o p l e, situations, and locations so that we can pray specifically about the needs we see. We hope that these prayer walks will open our eyes and our hearts to the needs of Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and the surrounding areas and that it will result in compassionate service to our community. The Prayer Walls will be open during the afternoon and cards will be available so that individuals can use them to post their requests. Volunteers and pastors will be available to pray with and for people as well as the posted requests. A full schedule and more detailed information is available at circlethesquarewithprayer.com. If you or your church would like to get involved in Circle the Square with Prayer, find more information on the website or email laura@wrgn.com. WRGN will host a live broadcast of the 6 pm Prayer Service from Wilkes-Barre for those unable to attend one of the events in person, and we hope to see many of our listeners at both of these events as we gather with believers in prayer for our communities, our country, and our world.

Page 2 From us to you... To the WRGN listening family, April 2017 Last week on In the Market with Janet Parshall, Janet had a guest that really showed the impact of Christian radio. She interviewed Jack Barsky, a KGB recruit who spent ten years as an undercover agent in the United States in the late 1970s - 80s. He has since become a Christian because of the ministry of Ravi Zacharias. Ravi s program, Let My People Think, is heard on Sundays at 6:00 pm on WRGN. Barsky, who has written a book chronicling his experience as a spy, shares how God used what he heard from Ravi Zacharias to lead him to faith in Jesus Christ. We hear similar stories from listeners who tell us how a song, a word, a testimony, or a message on WRGN has changed their life. These are the stories that keep us excited about sharing the Good News every day on WRGN no matter what is going on in the world around us. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes... (Romans 1:16 ESV) If you haven t done so already, share the ministry of WRGN with someone you know today. If you hear a program that you think will encourage or challenge someone else, let them know about it. It s as easy as sharing a link on social media or sending an email to them directly with the link. We provide links to the programs you hear on WRGN on our website at wrgn.com. Sharing is caring! Tim & Heather Madeira P.S. If you missed this exciting interview with Jack Barsky, it is still available online at www.moodyradio.org/programs. Just click on the link for In the Market with Janet Parshall where past programs are archived, including a link to Barsky s book, Deep Under Cover.

Page 3 In Concert! Southern Gospel fans: join us Saturday, April 22 at 6:00 pm (doors open at 5:00 pm) at Fellowship Church, 45 Hildebrandt Road in Dallas for a great night of music. Go to wrgn.com for more information. We celebrated the launch of our new lunch hour program by giving away gift cards to some of our listener s favorite lunch spots. The new show with host Dan Close has already proven popular with the lunch crowd from NEPA to Massachusetts! Yes, one of our lunch winners listens online and called in to tell us how much she enjoys listening to WRGN online even though she left the area over 18 years ago. Tune in from 11:30 to 12:30 for a fresh look at lunch!

Page 4 HERE AT THE You've gotta eat, right? Why not spend your lunch with WRGN? Grab your lunch bag and join Dan Close weekdays from 11:30 to 12:30 for the brand new show The Lunch Break - right here on WRGN! Unlike your 40th consecutive lunchtime PB&J sandwich, The Lunch Break offers something a little different each day - whether it's the Two for Tuesday featured artist, What's New on the Bookshelf, or looking at upcoming area events, the Lunch Break has you covered. PLUS listen for opportunities to win a lunch it sure beats that PB&J you're eating. During our exciting debut week on The Lunch Break, listeners were able to call to win a $10 gift card for lunch at Subway, Panera Bread, and Jersey Mike s. Congratulations to Ellen, Dallas; Julie, Kingston; Carol, Whitinsville, MA; and Don, Benton. T i m M a d e i r a w i l l b e traveling to St. Croix the last week of April for WIVH s annual Share-A- Thon on April 27-28. He will be joined by former WRGN Operations Manager Jonathan Broscious as they guest host the two-day event. Listeners from St. Croix always enjoy visiting the studios during Share-A- Thon to visit with other listeners, enjoy homemade food, and get involved in this important event. Listeners, local pastors, and ministry leaders share many testimonies of the impact that WIVH has had on their lives and their spiritual growth during these visits, so it is an incredibly energizing, exciting, and encouraging time. As part of our ongoing ministry outreach through WIVH in St. Croix and the surrounding islands, STUDIOS we will host Mission Possible in May. In the early years of WIVH s ministry and operations, WRGN raised the majority of the funds, with local WIVH listeners supplementing what was raised here in NEPA. Over the years of ministry as the station put roots on the island and invested in the spiritual well-being of the community there, the support ratio has steadily shifted so that WIVH is now much closer to self-supporting. We praise God that those who benefit from WIVH have taken ownership of the station and see its value in their lives! We remain committed to sustaining and growing the ministry of WIVH and are blessed to be involved in this incredible outreach ministry that impacts many lives. This year it is our goal to raise $15,000 for WIVH. Unlike past years, though, our annual one-day on air campaign will raise these funds without interrupting our regularly scheduled programming. If you would like to help support WIVH, please give us a call at 800-245-3688. Jay Major, a Campus Life director and staff member at NEPA Youth for Christ, joined Tim and Doug in the studio on Wake Up Right to share information with our listeners about Youth For Christ s upcoming banquet, featuring David Akers, retired kicker for the Philadelphia Eagles. YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with t h e l o c a l c h u r c h a n d o t h e r likeminded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus. We re thankful for the incredible impact that the local chapter of YFC has on our area s teens.

Page 6 New at the Library Our monthly library feature for April is Travel Back in Time and we ll be highlighting historical fiction and books featuring historical topics. Our authors of the month are famous for their works of historical fiction. Bodie and Brock Thoene have written over 70 works of historical fiction. With degrees in both history and education for Brock and journalism and communications for Bodie, the Thoenes are not only master stylists but experts at capturing reader s minds and hearts. Due to such careful research, The Zion Covenant and The Zion Chronicles series are recognized by the American Library Association as classic historical novels and are used to teach history in college classrooms. In time for Easter is the new book from Christopher J.H. Wright, To the Cross: Proclaiming the Gospel from the Upper Room to Calvary. Biblical scholar and seasoned pastor, Christopher Wright skillfully guides us on Jesus journey from the Last Supper to the cross. Through the lens of the Old Testament, Wright navigates the Gospel accounts of events that include the meal in the upper room, Peter's denials, the taunts and jeers of soldiers and bystanders, and the anguish of crucifixion, inviting us to meditate on their significance for us. Jesus' death on the cross offers us the forgiveness that Jesus prayed for, and through his resurrection we can know redemption. When Tides Turn is Sarah Sundin s latest novel in her Waves of Freedom series. A pharmacist by day, and a Christian historical fiction writer in her free time, Sundin was drawn to the era of World War II from stories of her grandfather and great-uncle who both served in the military. When Tides Turn follows Tessa Beaumont who has enlisted in the Navy s WAVES program. Lt. Dan Avery has his sights set on making admiral and has been using his skills to fight German U-boats. The last thing he wants to see on his radar is a girl like Tess. When Dan is assigned to a new escort carrier at the peak of the Battle of the Atlantic, he's torn between his lifelong career goals and his desire to help Tess root out a possible spy on shore.
