I am honored to be one of your board members and am serving as the Director of Registration. In the midst of all this activity we are preparing for the Fall Walks. Yes, before you know it they will be upon us. As such, I want to give you the current status of where we are in terms of Pilgrims Truth is we are behind the power curve. We have NO CONFIRMED Pilgrims for either walk and have only one new Men s application that has yet to be processed. There are several carry overs from previous walks that we are working to get confirmed but WE NEED YOUR APPLICATIONS for new Pilgrim as soon as possible. July Gathering was held at Eastover Retreat Center at the Chrysalis candlelight. What a beautiful sight to walk out on the deck with the girls and see so many beautiful members of our community. Thank you for making the trip!! August Gathering is a Chrysalis Gathering which means that the youth of our community will be in charge of the entire evening. Come join us at Community UMC 1072 Old Kempsville Rd. Va. Beach on Saturday, August 16 and continue to be awed and amazed at the passion of the youth of our community for our Lord!! Come support them with your presence on their faith walk. Potluck dinner is at 5:30 and the Gathering begins at 6:30. See you there! Another way to support the Emmaus Community is through the Just Give green button link of the Tidewater Emmaus web page at www.tidewateremmaus.org This is an easy way to support the missionof the Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis movement. The PRAYER VIGIL will be going around at the next gathering and we can begin to start signing up to give the gift of Agape of joyful and meaning prayer during the walks. DeColores!! Reunion groups are a way of staying in touch with your Emmaus brothers and sisters, but more importantly staying routed in the principles of Emmaus. The bonding experience is phenomenal. The August Gathering is a Chrysalis Gathering at Community United Methodist Church. This is the month that new board members are elected to the Chrysalis Board. 4 adults and 1 youth are needed to fill the positions for the upcoming term. Those on the ballot are: Cathy Strong, Kelly Amburn, Alicia Kelly, Jenny Menaugh- Campos and Jordan Moore. If are interested in serving the community on the Chrysalis Board and would like your name added to the ballot, please contact Rob Coxwell at rmcj87@aol.com There are many evolutions associates with being a Christian that are difficult, starting a Reunion Group is not one of them. If you check the list on the Reunion Group page and there isn t an open group in your area, then start one. Trust in the Lord to guide you. If you need assistance or know of an open reunion group that is not listed, please contact the Continuity Director (training/reunion groups) Leo Matuszak at twecontinuity@yahoo.com Sings the rooster Sings the rooster with his kiri kiri kiri kiri kiri And the cluck hen with her cara cara cara cara cara And the baby chicks And the baby chicks with their pio pio pio pio pi De Colores and so must all love be Of many bright colors To make my heart cry De Colores and so must all love be Of many bright colors To make my heart cry Page 4 of 7

Have you ever just felt like a colossal mess running ragged and just trying to keep everything together, just barely avoiding missing something and even sometimes still letting something slip through your grasp? I think we all tend to feel as though at times our humanness grabs us and holds on tight spinning us into the worldliness of hurry and a million things to do. It is in those moments I find myself, which I try hard to take in the deepest of breath and breathing in what God has to say to me at just that second. Even in our moments of feeling like a mess, we are all a beautiful mess, a painting of His wonderful creation with a rich destiny in the fabric of His almighty plans for us. Our greatest difficulty lies in the waiting for His glorious plan to unfold and in keeping our hearts open to what those plans hold for us. There have been many trials this year for the members of the Emmaus Board, many decisions that the Board has had to consider. I ask that as a community, crafted by our Father as a servant body of Christ, that we join in knowing that all decisions made are not done lightly and done with great consideration, often with the struggles of our own human struggles of wanting what was great during our own walks. This May, the Tidewater Community hosted a training event conducted by the Regional Emmaus team. Board members sign a covenant each year stating that we commit to being obedient and following the guidelines set forth by the Upper Room Emmaus. Part of that commitment is that during our 3 year term, each member will attend training. This training is meant to keep us abreast of changes to the way things have always been done. I know that change is not easy, it never is. The board does place the ink to the paper and sign each of our names, binding us to our word that we will follow and trust that it is God and not us that is there at the weekend to impact the lives of the pilgrims He has called. I believe completely that there are times that God bring things into our view and leads us to make a change, be those moments forks in the road. Page 5 of 7

At the May training, The Tidewater Emmaus board realized that there were a couple of elements of the weekend that had changed and as servants trusting in the Father s plan, we needed to submit to following and make the changes. A couple of the changes were minor and an easy alteration; the significant change was Son Rise. The Emmaus model allows the community presence during the weekend at Candlelight, but does not include Son Rise. The pilgrims will experience a beautiful awakening on Sunday, but it will not include the return of the community to serenade them. I feel more than sure that God has this in His hands, in fact He always did. He has a moment for each pilgrim, whether on the walk or maybe even after that He will make the weekend so incredibly meaningful to each one of the pilgrims we sponsor. carefully crafted imperfections, for in those He creates a masterful beauty. DeColores, Karla Barron, TW 85 TWE CLD This is also a time that a deadline is upon the Tidewater Emmaus Community. We must have 20 confirmed pilgrims for the Fall Men s walk by Friday, August 22 nd. This is a hard deadline for the board, as there is a deposit due to Wakefield and without the confirmed applications, we cannot make that deposit. If it is God s will that a walk will proceed for the fall and He is calling you to sponsor a pilgrim, I pray that you step out in faith and ask the someone whose name is on your heart. I pray that God gives us all a little added peace through the changes that we face not only in this, but in our every day walk. We are all His servants even in our Page 6 of 7
