July 0, 06 :00 a.m. We welcome you to worship with us this morning, as we gather in community to draw closer to God, made known in Christ. We pray you will know the presence of the Lord, through our worship, and through the work of the Spirit. We invite you to take these moments before worship to calm your hearts and minds, and open yourself to the quiet stillness of the presence of God! Call to Worship One: Gather us in, Lord, and hear our prayers. All: We have come to this place in need of healing and hope. One: Gather us in, Lord, and heal our spirits. All: We come here seeking guidance and strength. One: Gather us in, Lord, and open our hearts to receive your word. All: Open our hearts, our spirits, and our souls to comprehend your word and follow you faithfully. *Opening Hymn # Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise Prayer of Confession (in unison) Lord, we hear bad news continually, and it seems the whole world is suffering and in pain. We often turn an indifferent ear to the cries of others because we are so overwhelmed by the needs and feel helpless in the face of such chaos. We close our eyes. We walk away, often crossing over to the side of self-importance and indifference because we are afraid to become involved. Forgive us, Lord. Make us ready to truly become your disciples. We ask these things in Jesus name. Amen. (A Moment of Silent Confession) Promise of God s Forgiveness One: Hear the good news of the gospel: All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed, and made whole. One: Know that we have been forgiven, and be at peace! All: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. Amen! *Congregational Response (Hymn #58) The Giving of our Tithes, Gifts & Selves to God - Offertory Congregational Response (Hymn #606) *Prayer of Dedication WE ENCOUNTER GOD S WORD Time for Children Junior Sermon Dr. Deborah Rexrode Children ages 3 st Grade are invited to Junior Church after the anthem; Worship Boards are on the front pew for older youth. Prayer for Illumination (unison) Gracious Lord, open our ears that we might hear your Word to us this day, and follow where it leads us. Open our eyes, that we might witness you in the world and proclaim your presence with joy. For the glory of your Kingdom, we pray. Amen.

Scriptures st Reading: Colossians :-4 p956 nd Reading: Luke 0:5-37 p844 Sermon Making a Difference Dr. Deborah Rexrode *Reflective Hymn #98 Lord, You Give the Great Commission WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD *We Affirm Our Faith We believe in God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who gathers, protects and cares for the church. We believe that Christ s work of reconciliation is made manifest in the church as the community of believers who have been reconciled with God and with one another. We believe that this unity of the people of God must be manifested and be active in a variety of ways: in that we love one another; that we experience, practice and pursue community with one another; that we are obligated to give ourselves willingly and joyfully to be of benefit and blessing to one another; that we share one faith, have one calling, are of one soul and one mind; have one God and Father, are filled with one Spirit, are baptized with one baptism, eat of one bread and drink of one cup, confess one name, are obedient to one Lord, work for one cause, and share one hope. We believe that together we come to know the height and breadth and the depth of the love of Christ, and together we are built up to the stature of Christ, to the new humanity; to know and bear one another s burdens, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ. To the one and only God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit be the honor and the glory forever and ever. [from the Confession of Belhar] Prayers of the People & Lord s Prayer One: Lord, in your mercy, All: Hear our prayers. *Departing Hymn #45 Open My Eyes That I May See *Blessing One: We have been blessed! All: We have met for divine worship, as God s people. One: We have been blessed! All: Our sins have truly been forgiven. One: We have been blessed! All: We go out into the world as the body of Christ, bearing the good news of the gospel. We are blessed, indeed. Amen!
