CHAPTER DIRECTORS AL & CATHY NIGHSWANDER In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings and transitions, and thereby of gates, doors, doorways, passages and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. In this article, we look back first. We want to thank Randy and Linda Porter for their leadership the past three years. We are grateful for your work for Chapter B. We are such a busy chapter with all our activities, rides, charities, dinners well you get the idea! AND the members we are so many and diverse, and each are awesome. Al and I know that the task of leadership must be tremendous. It is a good thing that great leadership teams are in place to help out with the load. Which brings us to Debbe and Larry Steinhilber, former ride coordinators; Susan Kennedy, former Individual of the Year; and Tim and Beth Kruger, former Couple of the Year; who were on your team. Each were awesome in their abilities to represent our chapter and give work that helped to make us so successful. A million Thank Yous!!! Now, we look to the future. Al and I are excited to take over as Chapter Directors. At the January meeting we will take the oath of office. We promise to serve, assist, and lead the members of our chapter with pride and a positive spirit promoting fun, safety and knowledge. We have an awesome team to help us lead: ACDs: Jim and Carol Culler Mike and Cheryl Finley Treasurer: Gail P Miller Ride Coord.: Susan Kennedy (Rich Faeth) Asst. ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTORS MIKE & CHERYL FINLEY Recovering from New Year s Eve. Will have article next month. ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTORS JIM & CAROL CULLER Hi Everyone: Well, here we go again. Again year to have great rides, good dinners and fantastic friendships to make many, many memories. As Assistant Directors with Mike and Cheryl Finley lord knows what will happen. We look forward to serving the Chapter again and, as always, any suggestions, ideas or thoughts are welcome. We have always had a fantastic, close chapter made up of fantastic people whom we consider more as family instead of friends. FIRST OF ALL: With all the changes in the staff for 2018, hopefully all staff members will wear their colors so that pictures can be taken at the January Meeting to use for our Newsletter. Those needed will be: Don Schroeder and Deb Parks, 2018 Chapter Couple; Larry and Karen Bland, Dinner Ride Coordinators; Mike and Cheryl Finley, Assistant Chapter Directors; Jim and Carol Culler, Assistant Chapter Directors; Bonnie Lantz, Membership Enhancement; Barb Howard (we already have Barb s picture) Sunshine Lady; and Ted and Joyce Strutz, Assistant Ride Coordinators. We are really proud to be Assistant Directors with Mike and Cheryl. They are wonderful people as well as everyone on the staff and in the Chapter. We know that Al & Cathy will make our Chapter strong and strive to make it a very active Chapter of GWRRA. As always, our chapter is outstanding, not because of the staff, but because of our members themselves. We don t believe there is one member in our Chapter that does not help toward making our Chapter what it is today. We can give credit to some of the original members for making us as strong as we are: Frank & Alice Snyder, Rob & Lucy Kennedy, Charlie & Phyllis Barnett, and many others. They worked to keep this Chapter together for a very, very long time. We are not only proud to know them as members; but, to have them as very special friends. Looking forward to a funfilled new year with all of you. See you at the Meeting Jim and Carol 3

DISTRICT EDUCATOR OHIO - GWRRA Robert G & Angela Williams Hello Fellow Riders This is a new year and a new way to do our GWRRA thing! As your District Educator one of my new responsibilities is to write up a monthly newsletter articles and get it out to our Chapters. This process will take a bit to find its way, but several Chapters have already reached out to get me on their Editor s email Distribution list. So thank you to them. I will be using our ADD s to get this out until I have a good list of Chapter Editor Names and email addresses. So let me know who and where to send them 4

2018 is here, this is the time of year we have MFA Classes. Please make sure you have contacted Linda Copeland to schedule a Class. I have set the 2018 Rider Course Schedule and will have attached a copy of the GWRRA Registration form to this article. Feel free to visit: http://www.ohiogwrra.org and download a copy and share it. At this time I already have 1 class registration on file, so I can say hurry as these classes are filling up quickly Every weekend in May has a class somewhere. Please don t let these go unfilled. The least expensive way to say to a friend I care it to give them a seat in this class. Or did you ever think of a Chapter to giving one as a Door Prize!!! OHIO RIDES...JOIN US FOR THE JOURNEY... FROM THE DISTRICT EDUCATORS Robert G & Angela WILLIAMS District Educators Ohioeducator@Ohiogwrra.Org RIDE COORDINATORS RICH FAETH AND SUSAN KENNEDY Happy 2018 Chapter B family, Richard and I would like to bring you up to date on Richard s son Kevin. He has been in the OSU Brain and Spine hospital for 100 + days now. He had a shunt placed to help with the buildup of fluid in his brain. Kevin suffers from the same disease that Richard s wife Karen passed away from. There were some very scary days in those 100 + days. We 5

learned that the amyloids in his brain have caused seizures which he is now taking 3 kinds of medication for. Seizures are a new thing with this disease. Kevin, after lying in the hospital with little activity and being fed by tubes, now is doing much better. He is now eating on his own and is mobile. However, Kevin is now in need of rehab. A place for rehab has not been found as yet. It sure would be nice for family and friends to have Kevin close to visit. Please be praying that a facility is found for Kevin in the Galion area. We thank you all in advance for your prayers. Since Kevin was doing so much better, Richard and I made the decision to come to Arizona for a few months. We joined four other couples from Ohio here at Tucson Estates near Tucson. Everyone got their winter homes in order, so now we are off to see and do things in the area. We went to the Botanical Gardens and enjoyed the many plants and exhibits. Richard and I took a week and traveled to Sedona for New Years. We think of you often and will be looking forward to the days when we can all get on our Bikes and take a ride together! Miss you all!! DINNER RIDE COORDINATORS LARRY & KAREN BLAND Happy New Year! Hope everyone has had a good 2017 and looking forward to a great 2018 for many new things. We hope this cold weather will be over soon. If you re like us, we like to hibernate in the cold. We are certainly looking forward and very honored to be the new Dinner Coordinators for Chapter B. Our dinner rides will be changing slightly as we are doing the first Saturday of the month to give the people who work a chance to be able to join us and the last Thursday of the month respectively. Remember, we are always open to suggestions. 6

Our first adventure for the New Year was Saturday, January 6 th at Jake s Steakhouse on Rt. 250 East in Ashland, Ohio. Second one for the month will be Thursday, January 25 th at the Old Bag of Nails on Lexington Avenue in Mansfield. Again, we will be meeting there at 6 p.m. For those who are not going to Cabin Fever, Saturday, February 3, 6:00 pm we will be traveling to Willard to the Varsity Grille. We will be at Cabin Fever so have fun. Thursday, February 22 at 6:00 pm we will go to Perkins at 650 US Hwy. 250 East in Ashland, Ohio. **Please remember to check your e-mails before the dinner rides for a reminder and also in case there has been a change.** We are looking forward to good food, friendship and lots of laughs. Hope to have great participation as many more new and exciting adventures are to follow. Larry & Karen Hello fellow Goldwingers. \2018 COUPLE OF THE YEAR DON SCHROEDER & DEB PARKS We would like to thank all of those involved in selecting us to represent Chapter B as Couple of the Year. We hope we can live up to your expectations. We look forward to continue to meet new folks and enjoy the riding and eating sessions throughout the year. Hoping that you all had a Very Merry Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year. See you at the January monthly meeting. Stay warm, stay safe. Deb and Don NEWSLETTER EDITORS JIM AND CAROL CULLER HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Another year has passed and we are looking forward to a fun, exciting and wonderful 2018. It seemed that 2017 went by in a flash.where did the year go? We were always told, The older you get, the faster time goes by. I think now, we can attest to that. Chapter B lost four (4) wonderful members in 2017, whom we will never forget. 7

We are so fortunate to have the wonderful, close members that belong to our Chapter. Ever since we became members in 1988, it has been more like family than an organization; this is such a great, enjoyable and loveable chapter. SEE YOU SOON, JIM AND CAROL CHAPTER PHOTOGRAPHER MARY BASH FRIENDS BRINGING IN THE NEW YEAR TOGETHER!! 8

MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT BONNIE LANTZ Hello to everybody Out West -Article next month. See you soon, BONNIE SUNSHINE LADY BARB HOWARD Happy New Year to all of our Chapter "B" Family The year 2017 is finally a distant roar; as 2018 has already come through the front door! Buck and I hope that all of our friends had a very Merry Christmas and welcomed in a truly Happy New Year! Just like all of you, we have been very busy with all of the holiday festivities and this CRAZY weather we have been enduring. And, now getting ready for the next round this weekend, just can't wait for good riding weather! We know some of our luckier members have deserted us for warmer climates and we really are very envious of them! But we do wish them good times and safe travels, as they explore new adventures out west or down south and we look forward to their anticipated return. We do want to extend our best wishes to our members who went through medical procedures during the last couple of months and hope that all are doing well with their rehab. Our prayers and thoughts are with all our friends that have endured medical procedures such as Charlie Barnett and Phyllis, as Charlie just went through a double knee replacement and has started rehabilitation; Alice Snyder and Frank as Alice went through a knee replacement; Deb Parks and Don Schroeder, while Deb had a hip replaced. Also, Susan Craig was not feeling well at all during December. Our prayers are also with Charlie and Nancy Lantz in the loss of her brother, Dean Artz on December 20th, 2017. Last we heard, everyone who had surgery have had good reports and presently in the process of rehabilitation! And then there was Randy and Linda Porter, another situation entirely, Randy underwent open heart surgery on January 3rd and experienced a few unexpected complications, but thank the good Lord, Linda and her sister for his great care, he is now resting at home and very happy to be there! Our prayers and thoughts are, also, with Ron Schied and his family in the loss of his wife, Janet, on January 13, 2018; Jim & Debbe Crowl, for the loss of his mother, Linda Crowl; Mike & Barb Wickham, for the loss of Barb s Mother, Linda Crowl. If we have missed anyone that has been ill or suffered losses that we are not aware of, please let me know as soon as possible. We would like to wish all of our members with birthdays and/or anniversaries this month a very happy celebration and YOUR CARD IS IN THE MAIL! LOL Hope to see everyone soon, at the next meeting. God bless and much love from Barb and Buck! 9
