Dr. Timothy Faber Director of Missions Tel: (573)-392-6591 millercba@sbcglobal.net millerbaptistassociation.com The Voice of Miller County Baptist Association JANUARY 2016 A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS Over the past week I have carried several boxes out to the garage one box had an artificial tree, another box had oversized sock type things we call stockings and various glass and plastic ornaments, another box had sundry other reminders of the season. As I was carrying these items back to their place on the shelving in the garage the thought occurred to me that I was putting away Christmas. A wearying task that reminds us of the winter that yet remains. But as quickly as I had that thought I was reminded that Christmas cannot be truly put away. Thankfully Jesus is both eternal and omnipresent. He cannot be relegated to a box in the garage! And yet how quickly we allow the joy and peace and the goodwill of the season to be overshadowed by the concerns of everyday life. We may be quick to remind others that Jesus is the reason for the season in December, but what is He reason for in January? Let us remember the meaning of Christmas all year round. Let us live our lives in such a way that we never put Christmas away. Thanksgiving should not be put away either, so allow me to take this opportunity to express that I am thankful that I have had the privilege of serving Christ and His people these past three years here in Miller County Baptist Association. I am thankful that we have the resources to provide housing for one of our retired IMB missionaries. I am thankful for the generosity of so many churches and individuals in our association who have furnished the missionary house so well and in such short notice! I am also thankful for the generous Christmas gift that you all gave Teresa and me. You all are AWESOME! Your Fellow Servant Timothy

Submerged Vbs 2016 Finding truth below the surface VBS 2016 is just around the corner! I am this year s associational VBS director and would like you all to know that I am already praying for you and your church s VBS! I will be contacting directors and asking for volunteers to teach in our VBS clinic. If you have not ordered your vbs materials for 2016, please consider ordering through the association. We get a 15% price cut on materials when we order in bulk. Let me know a.s.a.p. and please let me know how I can help you and your church! Joni Kelsay 573-793-6972 MILLER COUNTY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION FISHING DERBY Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 23! That is the date of our first Fishing Derby! While many details are still being worked out, this is what we have planned thus far.... The goal is to share the gospel with people who do not know Jesus. Each boat must have one adult and one person who is 15 or younger. There will be differing classes of completion so everyone has a chance to win We will be having a block party type event during and immediately following weigh-in. So... whether you want to fish, or volunteer to work part of the fishing derby, or volunteer to serve at the block party, there is a place for you. Mark your calendars now and plan to be a part of this fun and spiritually rewarding event! Watch for the next issue of the Voice for more details... or call the office with questions or to volunteer to serve somewhere

There will be training March 11-12 at Waynesville and October 7-8 in Jefferson City. I would encourage each church to consider sending members to at least one of these training events to strengthen the D.R. team from our association. We currently have a Chainsaw Unit but very few that are certified to work in Disaster Relief. It would be great to grow the number and be able to fully man the Unit we have. Please prayerfully consider attending a training event this year. Register online at www.mobaptist.org/dr

Good News of Great Joy! Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year! As snow and cold weather arrive in Yerevan, the Armenian people are already preparing for the New Year and Christmas celebrations. In the Gospel of Luke we read, But the angel said to them, Don t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. (Luke 2:10-11 HCSB). The Father is allowing us to share Good News of great joy! This is the time of year that we also celebrate our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Thank you for giving and being a part of what God is doing here. Together we are able to share this Good News because you continue to give to this offering. He is allowing us to share Good News with two families through our Special Needs project. Interesting lessons are planned in order to encourage learning and involve the whole family in the educational process. Along with lessons, we share the love of Christ with the family. Pray for new homes and open families for this special project after the first of the year. Our Father is allowing us to start a new outreach bible study in a new city. This group is made up of several men who have a strong desire to study the word and help others to study it as well. As we close out this year and start another year, please pray for these new projects to develop. Please pray families to be open to the Good News through the Special Needs project. Please pray for M and N in our new outreach bible study to respond to the good news. The holidays will bring a special blessing since our daughter and son-inlaw will be spending two weeks with us in Yerevan. Shelby has visited one time, but Levi has never been here before. We are excited to be together as one family! Please pray for them as they prepare to come. Shelby had two carpal tunnel surgeries in the past several weeks so we are praying for her complete healing, especially before traveling to Armenia! Also, Ryan will be traveling to Prague for a youth retreat at the end of the month. Pray that He will use this time in Ryan s life to strengthen and encourage him. Without your prayers and giving, we couldn t continue! Keith and Wendy December 2015 KEYNOTE GUEST SPEAKER - RHONDA RHEA For information and registration forms www.hlg.edu
