Cassidy, Life Member 1928 2016 Grand Knight s Message Furman Miles Worthy Brothers, Greetings Brothers, SJW Family, and Community, I hope that this Easter season has been a joyous one for you. Easter a great time of renewal, reconciliation, a chance to grow in our relationship with Christ, by reflecting on his love and sacrifice at Calvary for us. I pray this Easter season has had a special spiritual significance to you, your family, and our community. Let us also pray for the people you can t be with their families/friends this Easter season, our military, police, firefighters, emergency workers, our brothers and sisters that are sick in hospitals, prisons, and who are estranged in their relationships. May all find God s Grace this Easter season. We will be celebrating our 60 th anniversary as a council this month. We formed our charter back on April 26 th 1956. Since that time we have serving many in our churches and community. We have a rich local history, and have grown to be a trusted iconic organization in the Lower Bucks area. We ll be celebrating this milestone formally at a dinner party on Saturday April 30 th 6-10pm in The Nest. There will be open buffet, bar- beer/wine, dancing, and testimonials sharing our many accomplishments over the years. The celebration party is of no cost to members and their family. Please join us on April 30th for this joyous event. In addition to the Anniversary Dinner on April 30 th we have been working on our 18 th annual golf outing which will be on June 10 th at Bensalem Country Club. We need all sorts of help with this. It is our biggest fundraiser which helps support our many charities along with our council home. If you can help with sponsors, find participants, volunteer for a position during, or like to golf, reach out to PGK Tom Gallagher at support@tomgallagher.com or find out more, and or register online at www.kofc4215.com I would like to thank DGK Joe Jones and his fabulous wife Jennifer for the great Job they did with the Easter egg hunt on March 26 th! There were over 40 participants and their families who came out to take in all the festivities. There was also a special after party in the Nest with a visit from the Easter bunny. It was an outstanding family event that brought a lot Continued on Page 3 The Vessel 1

We knights were waiting in line for the viewing of a fellow s knight s beloved, deceased wife. This woman had made her way behind where I was standing. Great, I thought. Someone wants to pee in the Catholic swimming pool. But when I turned to see the woman, I found her to be an interesting and likeable person. So I respectfully gave my thirty second Catholic elevator speech: In nature, things work because things are engineered to work. If things were a little bit off in temperature, pressure, mass, etc., then things don t work. This is a mark of Intelligent Design. And just Google Our Lady of Fatima and you will see photos of over 50,000 astonished people staring at the sky. Reporters sent to Fatima by the agnostic newspaper El Seculo on the Day of the Miracle of the Sun (October 13, 1917), subsequently wrote, We have no explanation for the supernatural events we witnessed. After some moments of silence, we eventually spoke about other things and common interests. Faith is a joy and a blessing that we Knights ask for every time we pray the rosary. We can and must defend our faith as reasonable but ultimately faith is a gift from God. I m not sure whether or not God worked through my words to leave the seeds of faith in that woman. I hope so. But when I heard my words to her, I was reminded just how great a treasure it is to have faith in the first place. Let s pray for each other so that we Knights stand faithful to a life of faith in our God Who loves us and gave Himself for us. Fraternally, Dr. Daniel J. Tisak, Trustee We continuously struggle to make ends meet financially at the Nest. While we have made strides in the income department, much work is yet to be done. We are still looing for ideas to close the gap in income vs. expenses that we incur. As they say, all hands on deck! Anyone with ideas, please contact me. In the interim, we need your patronage. Vivat Jesus, Alan Wersler, PGK, Home President For the entertainment schedule, please visit the home association page at www.kofc4215.com for more details. Chaplain s Message Father Edward Kelty Our chaplain did not have time to pen an article this month. Please continue to pray to the venerable Father McGivney. Continue to pray the rosary as well. Looking for a Few Good Men It has been nearly three and half years since I began this incredible experience with the Knights of Columbus. Rare is it when you find a common bond with men of all ages who both want to serve their God and their fellow man. There is nothing more rewarding than doing the work of Christ by helping those who are in the greatest need. And, on top of that, we have a great time doing what we do and, in my case, have made a number of lifelong friendships. This Council has been blessed since I have been a member to have strong leadership and a dedicated and extremely engaged group of volunteers that have allowed us to be as successful as we have been in doing so many great things for so many people. But, many of those people, for a variety of reasons, will at the very least be leaving their leadership spots and some will be reducing their involvement. It is always time for the Knights of Columbus to being looking for a few good men to take up the cause. Whether those are new men coming into the fold or some members who haven t been as actively involved getting more involved. If you are a member and haven t been attending meetings or participating in the numerous events that we participate in during the year, now is the time to give that serious consideration. We need you now more than ever. We need people to step up into leadership roles on the Council and we certainly need people to get involved in making the things we do even better. We have some very big events coming up that we need immediate help. Our annual golf outing is on June 10 and we need golfers and we need sponsors and we are also embarking on celebrating our 60 th anniversary as a council and we need people to help out with planning and running these events. I spent nearly a decade involved with youth sports, including four years as president of a local Little League, and became involved with the Knights of Columbus and this council after my run there was complete. It was great being part of a group that was dedicated in making a difference in the lives of children. But this calling has been even more fulfilling as I have a greater awareness that I am trying to do Christ s work through the Knights of Columbus. I pray that He calls some of you reading this to become more involved in some way. Vivat Jesus! Joe Jones, Deputy Grand Knight The Vessel 4
