Page 2 Bienville Assembly Fourth Degree 07/2012 SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT Sir Knights, we are blessed and privileged to have a guest speaker for our November meeting: Warrant Officer Bret Stolier (USMC ret). He started as a private and worked his way to becoming a warrant officer through training and hard work. He fought in WW II serving at Pearl Harbor from December 7, 1941 to Tokyo Bay September 2, 1945. During this time, he served at Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Iwo Jima. He was also aboard the U.S.S. North Hampton when it was sunk by Japanese torpedoes November 30, 1942. He currently acts as a guide at the WW II museum and should prove to be a most interesting speaker. As this will be a special event, we are seeking a large turn-out and are inviting spouses and non-members to attend PLEASE NOTE MEETING CHANGES Due to the demise of the Winn Dixie Community pals program, Bienville will not be receiving any additional funding from that source. To assist in recouping our costs on meetings, we will be charging $2.00 per member attending for the meal at our meetings. As the fare is typically extremely palatable, this is more than a bargain certainly less that a meal at Burger King or Popeye s would cost. Additionally, we are reinstituting the 50/50 drawing at meetings. Chances will be 1 for $1, $3 for $2 and 10 for $5 ***************************************************************************************************************************** Cooks needed for all meetings. Anyone interested should contact the Faithful Captain Justin Douglas at 504-616-5243 or via email at justindouglass@msn.com ****************************************************************************************************************************** The Catholic Church is under attack from all sides. We all know about the health care law assailing our religious freedom, but there are more subtle aggressions to our credendums. The media portrays men as witless dotards, controlled by the all-wise woman. Much less overt is the inclusion of the homosexual character in the myriad sitcoms on television today. We now see same sex marriages as normal in such shows. Even more insidious are seemingly innocuous productions as people looking for houses that routinely delineate couples living together without benefit of clergy and same sex couples looking to adopt and start a family. So what can one person do to stem this assault on Christian beliefs? We can band together as happened in August when people who believed in traditional marriage mobbed Chic fil A to show their support. (Notice the qualifying adjective of Traditional. This implies that there are more than one way to marry.) We can write, not to the shows but to the sponsors of these productions to voice our displeasure. Make your letter polite and simply state your objection to the content. Mention an alternative product to that of the sponsor and then put
Page 3 Bienville Assembly Fourth Degree 07/2012 your money where your mouth is and support that other product. In this way we can attempt to staunch the attack on Catholic Christian morals that is endemic in this country. Francis Celino PGK, PFN 4701 Purdue Dr Metairie, LA 70003 ************************************************************************************************************************************** MEMBERSHIP Brother Sir Knights our new membership director is Sir Knight Paul Eckert. We need to increase our membership this term and the easiest way to accomplish that is to ASK Brother Knights that are 3 rd Degree Knights )in good standing with at least 6 months passed since their First Degree) to join us. To that end, we are in need of Sir Knights to visit Councils in regalia to advertise who and what we are and stand for. Please contact our new membership director, Paul Eckert, to volunteer.
