Please let the Comptroller know of any changes at getjr.kofc@gmail.com FAITHFUL NAVIGATORS REPORT Ken Schmitt...201-307-9637 Sir Knights, It is certainly a busy time of the year! Our calendars are filled with Exemplifications, Council Events, Vacations during the Winter school break, and, most importantly, Parish events that help us to focus on our Lenten Journey to Holy Week and Easter.

I am a firm believer in Giving Up something for Lent something we truly enjoy in our daily life. Most of us can easily put our finger on something to avoid and it is probably in our best interest, for our physical well-being, to do so; but it also serves our spiritual well-being and this fact we have witnessed time and again in Lenten Seasons past. But I heard a phrase the other night at the Admissions Degree in Westwood (they put on an AMAZING degree on the second Tuesday of each month) Give UP or Give BACK. I thought this was quite poignant as it is so very much aligned with our guiding principle of CHARITY. If you are really struggling with giving something up for Lent, then focus on being charitable in everything you do, and give something back. Either way, I wish you all a good Lent! Our Assembly is not without our calendar events as well; and I invite you to PARTICIPATE!!!! Tuesday, February 27 th at 8pm February Business in Oakland. Please attend!!! Organize a car pool to the beautiful foothills of the Ramapo Mountains and join us. Liaisons should be prepared to report how many Candidates will be coming from their Council to the Exemplification on April 22 nd. Friday, March 16 th All paperwork and checks for the Spring 4 th Degree Exemplification (on April 22) are due to George or Ken. This includes: o Candidate s paperwork - Form 4, $70 Check, wife s name and if she is coming for dinner o List of Guests Sir Knights, Knights, wives, friends; we need all names and $60 per person o List of Color Corpsmen attending the dinner Keep in mind that Corpsmen must attend BOTH practices (April 12 th and 19 th at Fair Lawn Hall at 7:30pm); cost per Corpsman is $30 Sunday, April 22 4 th Degree Exemplification. You should already be inviting Brothers in your Council to become 4 th Degree Sir Knights and getting their Form 4 completed. This is a beautiful Exemplification so get your Brother Knights plugged in. Sunday, June 24 at 9:30am Joseph F. Lamb Assembly Annual Communion Breakfast. The details for our Communion Breakfast are set! Fr. Ray will celebrate 9:30 Mass at Our Lady of Good Council Church (Washington Twp). We will then adjourn to the Washington Twp Hall for the Communion Breakfast (11am 1pm). There will be more information regarding reservations in future emails so stay tuned. Other items to keep in mind Get Business Ads from members of your Council to George Thompson for posting in the Patriot. An ad costs $50 for the entire year! That is certainly a bargain from an advertising perspective and the circulation is County-wide to over 300 members! Stay in touch with what is happening in other Councils in our Assembly. Visit the Website regularly as many Councils post events there. The website is josephflamb.org, and our Captain, Mike Maione, has done an exemplary job in maintaining it. Pay your dues as soon as possible. This helps to fund the charitable donations we make. That is all for now, Brothers. I wish you a Blessed Lenten Season! Vivat Jesus! Peace, and God Bless you All. Ken Schmitt Faithful Navigator

p.s. During these Winter months, please keep an eye on the elderly in your neighborhood. They can use our help. Many of the Color Corps members have aged out and can no longer carry out the duties of the Color Corps. All of you have seen the admiration and respect engendered when the corps perform a ritual. Faithful Comptroller Report: George E Thompson Jr. 201-445-9835 Getjr.kofc@gmail.com Keep sending in your dues monies promptly if you didn t get a bill send me a email Patriot Ad monies are coming in slow Please submit February will be the switch over Mass At Paramus Veterans There are many Catholic Veterans in residence at the Paramus Veterans Home. Several of them are disabled and need assistance in getting from their quarters to the location where the Mass is celebrated and after the Mass to return to their quarters. Members of councils and assemblies in the Bergen Federation have been providing this assistance at 10:00 a.m. on the 2 nd and 4 th Saturday of each month. More Knights are needed to provide this assistance, since the health and physical capabilities of many of the long-timers precludes them from providing this act of charity. This is an informal process, just show up at the Paramus Veterans Home and lend a hand pushing a wheelchair. Eucharistic ministers are also urgently needed. If you are physically able to consider becoming a member of the corps. Contact Color Corps commander Lou Iozia at 973-208-7989 or iozia15@optonline.net to join or if you have questions. Think about it!

Sometimes, we forget the way that we should conduct ourselves during a meeting. With the cooperation of the membership, the meetings can flow quickly and efficiently. If a member wishes to speak, he does so by rising from his seat, addressing the chair with Faithful Navigator and saluting at the same time. The Faithful Navigator will return the salute and acknowledge the member. All questions and speech are directed through the chair. There may be other situations that arise that are not covered by a rule. But by applying common courtesy to each other, we cannot go wrong. Finally, we should show proper consideration for the office represented by the person.
