Dear Parishioners, There is always something about first encounters and introductions. When we arrive at a new destination or meet someone new there are initial reactions or impressions made whether consciously or unconsciously. Today on this Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord we recall and celebrate the magi as they followed a new star. They were overjoyed at seeing the star and recognized upon their arrival in Bethlehem, the ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel. During the Christmas Season many parishioners introduced visiting friends and family members who chose to celebrate Christmas with us. Many people commented on who we are as a family of faith- how welcomed they felt, how prayerful our liturgies were and the beautiful church they walked into. Many guests were happy to be here and promised to return. This sort of reaction is because of each of you! Truly you welcome others to our home of prayer every Sunday and they feel it. Your genuine giving of yourself is noticed and appreciated by many including me! In addition, our Advent and Christmas Seasons were blessed with the hard work and long hours of many parishioners and staff. To Father Jeremy, Father Hung and our deacons who prepared and led us into deeper faith of the Incarnation through their preaching and presiding. To the Sisters of St. Joseph in the Convent who prayerfully support everyone and everything in the parish. To our liturgical ministers (lectors, altar servers, sacristan, ministers of hospitality, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion) who assist regularly and reverently. To our church decorators who enhanced the beauty of our church with the Christmas plants, tree and wreaths; these volunteers work so well together. To our choirs under the direction of Mrs. Lisa Kelly who masterfully led our song and music on Christmas Eve and Day and throughout this holy season. To Mr. Joseph Venticinque and academy faculty and to Mrs. Regina Moreno and catechists who teach the true meaning of Christmas to our children. To Mrs. Doreen Walz in the Human Concerns Center and St. Vincent DePaul Society who made this year s Giving Tree Project so successful and brightened Christmas for many in need. To our custodial staff for keeping our property safe and clean and beautifully decorated outdoors. To our administration staffs that welcomed and helped everyone to feel at home in the parish. Such spiritual and personal encounters with each other draw us into the great mystery of our faith- the Word become flesh. We continue that encounter this afternoon at our annual Epiphany Concert beginning at 3:00 PM in the church. Please invite family, friends and neighbors to this sacred time of music and fellowship. God bless you and thank you! IN YOUR CHARITY PLEASE PRAY FOR The sick, homebound and hospitalized... We continue to pray for the sick of the parish every day. If you have a name to be included in the bulletin, please call the Parish Office and let us know. In the event that the person recovers, we ask you to notify us, so we can keep our sick list updated. Thank you. All Our Faithful Departed Loved Ones... Elizabeth Milan, George West SCHOOL SCHEDULES.
