SPECIAL COLLECTION for November 20th is for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD Thanksgiving). The CCHD provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the US. Families Journeyed with Mary and Her Son Jesus On October 18 th St. John s Religious Education children, grades 1 st 8 th and their families shared an evening of Faith and Prayer together. The families learned how to pray the rosary, learned the meaning of the liturgical colors and the names of the articles used during Mass. Confirmation class joined us by performing a skit about Mary and Jesus. We all gathered around the church to create a beautiful live Rosary and prayed one decade of the rosary. We ended our evening with the Confirmation class serving the families a spaghetti dinner with the help of parishioners from our parish who cooked the dinner. Thank you to all who helped with putting together the family gathering. WELCOME INTO OUR PARISH FAMILY, our new member, Anne Hass! HELP! We need someone to shovel and/or blow snow, put down salt (calcium chloride) whenever there is a snow or ice storm. We will pay for your time. JOHN S FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS On December 2nd from 5-8pm, as part of the Snowflake Festival, The Loughran House and grounds of Senate House will be all decked out for the holiday season. Enjoy roasted chestnuts and hot apple cider, horse and wagon rides, and visit with Santa Claus. Located in Kingston s Historic Stockade District, Senate House State Museum, 296 Fair Street. Cost is Free! KINGSHIP The book of Samuel recounts for us today the anointing of David as king of Israel. It was the elders of Israel who declared David king that day, but it was God who called David to shepherd Israel. Thus mandated by the citizens of his kingdom and by his God, David took his place in a long line of kings. The apostle Paul speaks to us of kingship as well, but on a much higher plane: the kingship of Jesus our Lord. As great as David was, he and all earthly monarchs who came before and after him in their kingdoms around the world are minor kings by comparison to the true King. And lastly, we hear the story of that true King in perhaps his weakest moment: near death, hanging on a cross, taunted by a common criminal and by the world at large. ~Father George COLEMAN THEATRE PRESENTS FOOTLOOSE!
