F OURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PAGE 6 PRESENTING THE GIFTS OF BREAD AND WINE Presenting the gifts at Mass is a special way to participate as we celebrate the Eucharist. Often the family who has requested the Mass Intention will bring up the gifts to the altar, but this is not always the case. Our Ushers are instructed to choose two people to do this act if no one informs them; they usually wait five minutes before the Mass begins. Since we have begun to accept up to five Mass Intentions for each Mass, the family who has requested the first Mass Intention will be given the opportunity to process to the altar with the Bread and Wine. If the first family does not wish to do this then the next family would be offered to do it; and so on. Simply notify an Usher 15 minutes before Mass begins that your family would like to present the gifts at Mass, or call Wayne Efferson (490-1352, ext. 206) at the Parish Office during the week. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Mondays-9:30 AM 3:00 PM We are in need of more volunteers to sign up for a time-slot on Mondays when we make available The Blessed Sacrament. The sign up sheet is located at the rear of church next to the poster (Eucharistic Adoration). Also, as a reminder, whenever a national holiday is celebrated on a Monday i.e. Memorial Day and Labor Day, adoration will be suspended. MARK YOUR CALENDAR! We are very pleased to announce that The African Children s Choir will be hosted by our parish for the fourth time. This is a concert that you don t want to miss! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ASSIST AT THE CONCERT! (see below) DO YOU LIKE FROZEN YOGURT??? Ashwaubenon School District s ASHCARES will receive part of the sales from Smart Cow Yogurt Bar (2321 S. Our brothers and sisters at Woodside Lutheran and San Luis Manor Nursing Homes long to receive our Lord in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Bringing our Lord in the sacrament of Holy Communion to our brothers and sisters are confined is a ministry that we need to strengthen and continue at Nativity Parish, especially Woodside Lutheran and San Luis Manor Nursing Homes. We are in desperate need of people to be trained for this is ministry for these Nursing Homes because our current minister are ill or have been serving for week after week for many years. Won t you consider looking into how you might serve our brothers and sisters would reside at one of these nursing homes? Please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship, 490-1352-206, natwe@nativityparish.com for more information. ON INDIGNATION AND AMAZEMENT By: Kristina M. DeNeve Evangelization and Welcoming Director Diocese of Green Bay When we share our faith, we can expect to have experiences like Jesus in today s Gospel. People will not understand. People will be confused or irritated. The Gospel says people took offense at Jesus. As Jesus followers, this means there will be times when we have faithful, loving intentions and yet people will literally take offense. Sometimes people will be offended when we talk about Jesus! NOTE: This does not mean we are supposed to go out of our way to offend people. Jesus was not angry, indignant, confrontive, argumentative etc when he shared the Good News. If you are any of these, then I guarantee you are not speaking for God. How can I know this? Because the first and foremost sign of Jesus presence is peace. Galatians 5: 22 tells us point blank that peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control are signs of the Holy Spirit. Not anger or combativeness. Sunday, September 16, 2012 7:00 PM Nativity of Our Lord Church WANT TO BE A VOLUNTEER AT THE CONCERT? Now that we have all of our Host Families we can work on getting our volunteers to assist at the concert on Sunday, September 16 th There is a need for a variety of duties so if you can assist in any way please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship at natwe@nativityparish.com or 490-1352 ext. 206. 6 We must be like Jesus share openly and non-defensively. If need be, we too can be amazed and grieved by others lack of faith. CAMP, PRAY AND HIKE WITH CATHOLIC YOUTH EXPEDITIONS THIS SUMMER!
