SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST July 23, 2017 9:00 a.m. *Those who are able are invited to stand. PRELUDE WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Maxim Pakhomov Rev. Dale Rosenberger, Senior Minister PASSING OF THE PEACE *HYMN #25 SING PRAISE TO GOD WHO REIGNS ABOVE *CALL TO WORSHIP God has searched us and knows us. God knows when we fall down and when we rise up. God searches out our path and never leaves us in pain. God knows our fears, insecurities and anxieties. God knows the deepest parts of our soul. God s hand is ever available to guide us. Faith is the key that can access our freedom. Jesus Christ teaches us how to overcome our shortcomings. Today, may we find peace in the unknown. Today, may we walk by faith and not by sight. God s light breaks through the darkness. God illuminates the way before us. (responsively) *OPENING PRAYER 2

*LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI JOYS AND CONCERNS MOMENT OF SILENCE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON GENESIS 13:1-4 Dave Sealy, Deacon So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb. Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. He journeyed on by stages from the Negeb as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place where he had made an altar at the first; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord. The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die. *HYMN #94 IF YOU WILL TRUST IN GOD TO GUIDE YOU 3

GOSPEL LESSON JOHN 8:12-20 Gary M. Morello, Associate Minister Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. Then the Pharisees said to him, You are testifying on your own behalf; your testimony is not valid. Jesus answered, Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid because I know where I have come from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge by human standards; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgement is valid; for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid. I testify on my own behalf, and the Father who sent me testifies on my behalf. Then they said to him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also. He spoke these words while he was teaching in the treasury of the temple, but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. SERMON WALK IN FAITH Gary Morello OFFERTORY UNTIL YOU VE KNOWN THE LOVE OF GOD Randy Goodman Daniel Hague *DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow: Praise God all creatures here below: Praise god above ye heav nly host: Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. *PRAYER OF DEDICATION (unison) Thank you, God, for the rich heritage of faith we have received from our ancestors. We are grateful that your Spirit is ever with us, assuring us of your acceptance and love. May our offerings share this good news with other children of God who have not yet discovered their identity. May all of us grow in righteousness that we might together experience the reality of your realm in our daily lives, here and now and for all eternity. Amen. FAREWELL TO THE DENOYER FAMILY *HYMN #345 GOD BE WITH YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN *BENEDICTION POSTLUDE Rev. Rosenberger Mr. Maxim Pakhomov * * * 4

We are an accepting community where faith in Christ makes a difference. We welcome you to worship with us wherever you are on your journey. As a spiritual home, our hallmarks are education, fellowship and pastoral care.
