Actually, the above title is not totally true. Because we are blessed by God each and every day, stewardship, which is how we take care of and utilize what God gives us, ought to be foremost in our hearts and minds on a daily basis. The Fall of the year and the month of October is simply set aside to begin praying and thinking and praying about what our commitment will be for the coming year. What amount, what percentage will I/we pledge to bring to the storehouse! I ran across the following parable while surfing the web in search o some stewardship thoughts: Eight Reasons Not to Make Your House Payment A Parable by David Sumner 1. The only time I ever hear from the bank is when they want money. They never pay attention to my other needs. 2. I m upset at the bank president. He said some things I don t agree with. 3. The house payment is a tenth of my income. That s a whole lot more than I can really afford. 4. I ll give them what I can every month. But I don t want to make any longrange promises. 5. We went on vacation last month. The bank will have to wait while we catch up on other bills. 6. I ll support the bank with my prayers. That ought to do more good than my measly little payment. 7. The bank spends too much money on itself. When it starts giving more away, then I ll start making house payments again. 8.The bank has a lot of rich customers. It can get along fine without my little payment. Well, I enjoyed it! So what should I be doing concerning the stewardship of finances in my life? Good question and here are some thoughts: 1. I was serious about prayer. Have an honest conversation with God about what it means to be faithful with what God gives to you. 2. Pray about your priorities when it comes to how you use your financial means. Where does God rank in your monthly expenditures? 3. Pray about what you are giving this year, what s the percent of your total that you take to the storehouse? 4. Pray about an increase as you work your way to the tithe, the first fruits. 5. Then step out on faith. God s promise is that when you put God first, God will work it out. In the name of Jesus, Pr. Skip

Page 3 TRUNK OR TREAT The Missional River Ministry of Lord of Life Lutheran Church will sponsor its second annual Truck or Treat on Friday, October 30 th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the church parking lot. All are invited to park their decorated trunks and pass out candy as we welcome and fellowship with the ghosts and goblins from the neighborhood. Join us for fun and fright as the adults attempt to relive their childhood in an evening of laughter, games and music as they pass out candy to the children. Can t join the fun this year? Donations of candy are welcome. Contact members of Missional River if you have questions. Mark Waggoner, Dick Fink, Donna Hagens or Felicia Wachsmann. GREETERS NEEDED We are in the process of establishing greeters for worship services. Our goal is to have greeters for every Sunday at the Welcome Center doors and the sidewalk leading up to church. The greeters will welcome visitors and current members as they enter church with special attention to new visitors and those who require mobility assistance. This is a great way to spread God s love and joy. Please contact Dave @ 512-619-3104. There also will be an greeter sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center. THANK YOU! Lord of Life Church Family, Thank you for holding the Welhausen and Hagens family in your prayers. Stephen was something special and would be deeply moved by the compassion of each of you. A special thank you to Pastor Skip for attending Steve s memorial and to each of you that were also in attendance that beautiful day. Steve smiled at everyone and was drawn to each person he met with a true passion and concern. His smile was infectious and his entire family challenges each of you to offer a smile to everyone you meet each and every day. As Steve said, Everyone hurts, and a smile may be just what they need at that moment in time. Peace and love to each of you, Diana and Donna Hagens

Please bring your own sack lunch. Desert and refreshments will be provided by our October Hostess. All ladies and friends of LOLLC are cordially invited to attend. We always have such a good variety of topics for our meetings, so if you know of someone/something that you would like presented, please sign up! Thank you in advance! We are still collecting used postage stamps also. They are sent to LWR to add to other churches' collections, and the money is used for mission projects! It is amazing what we can do when we join with others in helping others! REFORMATION SUNDAY We will have a very special guest preach the Sermon on Reformation Sunday, November 1. Martin Luther, aka John Paul Crawford. We encourage you to come and welcome Martin Luther to Lord of Life that day! FELLOWSHIP If you ENJOY coffee and cookies on Sunday Mornings we need YOUR assistance. We need people to sign up to serve, and host coffee and treats (cookies) Sunday mornings. These people will need to put coffee in pump carafes, and cookies on a plate. Also they will need to greet people, look for visitors etc... Another option is bringing cookies or similar treats (4 to 5 dozen) or donating ($20). Before leaving for the morning the coffee pots carafes and plates need to be emptied rinsed and or washed. So on a Sunday morning we could have one two or three volunteers. Find a partner to work with and volunteer once a month or every other month.

Page 7 NEW WORSHIP POSITION CANTOR We are adding a new position a Cantor - - during our Worship Services. We will have a Cantor sing the Kyrie at each of the services, so the Assisting Minister will no longer have a singing part during worship. The Cantor at the 2nd service will also assist with communion. This is an old tradition at many churches, but will be a new one at Lord of Life. With the change in roles for both the Assisting Minister and Cantor, we encourage you to sign up in the Volunteer Book in the Welcome Center. If you are interested in learning more, contact David Pencil or Deb Grunska. PRAY...PRAY...PRAY In the reading from James last Sunday the Lord directed us to pray for one another. That is what we do when we join the prayer chain and receive requests for prayer. Prayer requests are sent to your email. You can pray for them when you receive the email or later but you pray for the things requested. To ask for a prayer or have your name added to the list to receive requests for prayers just send an email to Prayerchain@lordoflifeaustin.org. The prayer chain coordinator Gayle Covington has moved and Marge Robison will send out the requests. If you have any questions you can ask Marge at Margaret-robison@sbcglobal.net. We hope that more individuals will join in this valuable ministry. SUMMER OF SERVICE COLLETION SUCCESS The Summer of Service drive was a success! Each month, Lord of Life participated in collections for different organizations. Thank you to all those who donated over the summer for those in need! Page 12 INDIA MINISTRY Life-Lines Lord of Life was apart of sending Sunil Noah to India for the Emmanuel Bible School programs and other rural ministries. 27 Pastors rededicated their lives to continue to serve God faithfully against all the odds they face. Their faith was challenged and uplifted. In spite of all the Hindu government's efforts to propagate Hinduism, the church continues to grow. The Below are testimonies from Sunil about his trip. During my trip in August, I conducted a one day family retreat at a very rural place - near Walajabad, Kancheepuram District. God healed a young Hindu boy of kidney stones. He was suffering much in pain, but could not afford medical costs. When I anointed him with oil and prayed, all three kidney stones came out without any surgery needed. Now this family gave their lives to Jesus and they are attending church there. Praise God! He continues to heal when we pray. God also gave me the opportunity to pray for more than 40 people in this village. After ministering at the village church at Walajabad, I was invited by a young Hindu man to visit his village - IRUMARAM, which was located about 35 km away. When I went there, they took me to the village headman's home and they gathered all the people on that street into their home. There was not a single Christian home in this village. The village had just then celebrated a big Hindu festival. By the grace of God, I sang songs glorifying Jesus and preached for an hour. When I requested people to come forward for prayers, the village headman's wife was the first to come and she knelt down for prayers. Following her, the entire crowd in the house - around 70-80 people, both young and old, came forward for prayers. I anointed each of them with oil and prayed over them. During my preaching, I said that God would send the former rain, the rain in season and the latter rain. Never did I realize that this village had not had any rains in four years and was going through a severe drought. But by the grace of God and all glory to Jesus, God opened up the heavens and poured rain that night. The villagers were rejoicing and thanking God. They sent me some pictures the next day, which I am attaching here. Also, the next day I heard from them requesting for a church to be built in this village. There is not a single church in this village so far. We are praying that God would enable us to build a church here and lift the name of Jesus high above all other gods. Thank you once again for sending me. God willing, I will travel again to India in January 2016.
