President s Corner May, 2015 The club cruise together with the Westchester Club was a very enjoyable time. The surprise was the Cars and Coffee auto gathering at the BJ s shopping plaza in Yorktown, NY. From there we went via the Bear Mountain Parkway over the Bear Mountain Bridge and then north on Route 9 up to the Brotherhood Winery in Orange County, NY. After the tour, there was a luncheon for both clubs at a nearby Irish Pub-which was very good. All in all it was a very nice day. Thanks to Jim Vitetta for his coordination to help get the clubs together. It was great to see Vince Quartararo attend as well. I am trying to see if the WCC can join with us in July to attend the IMSA TUDOR UNITED SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP RACE scheduled for July 24-25 at Lime Rock Park. These are usually great events. The Park has refurbished the spectator seating areas. More to come about that at a later date. On Sunday 5/17, the WCC will hold their Classic car show at Arroway Chevrolet in Mt. Kisco, NY. It is just off the Saw Mill River Parkway. That same day is the blessing of the bikes and Corvettes + cruise from St. Joseph Church in Brookfield at 1:15 PM. There will be a cruise after the blessings and then a cookout back at the church after the cruise. Mel is continuing to work with Ingersoll Chevrolet to schedule a Corvette Tech session in the near future. Thanks Mel. Paula Vitetta has volunteered to take on the responsibilities of the Executive Secretary which entails taking minutes at meetings.. Thank you Paula! Don t forget that our next regular meeting is scheduled for 5/21/2015 at The Hearth Restaurant in Brookfield, CT at 7:00 PM. Enjoy your cars! Have fun! See you in a couple of weeks. BB Vice President s Corner Vice President s report for will be presented at the next dinner meeting. 2

From the archives..the minutes from the FIRST MEETING OF CVCC! On July 15 th, 1979, the 1 st gathering of the Corvette owners of this area took place. WOW! It was out of sight! 1955 to the present Corvette showed. Every one of them was a sight to behold. In addition, the occupations of the group are as varied as the ages. It was a delight to see such a diversified group. We listed interests on the fact sheet. As this was rather vague you can imagine the responses: Some kinky stuff! It should have been worded; interests in club. Everyone seems to have a lot of ideas. We need them-wow!! Before any serious thought can be given to constitutions, officers, dues, etc, we need to get to know each other. So, on July 29 th, a picnic will be held at Lake Waramug State Park, New Preston, Ct. in order to accomplish this. Please bring your own food and drink for a barbeque. Also, bathing suits will be needed. It will take approximately one hour to get to the park, so be gassed up. We will meet at the same Caldor shopping center at 9:30 a.m. for a 9:45 a.m. take-off. If you have never been in a Grand Corvette Caravan, it s worth the trip! Hope to see you then. LETS VETTE TOGETHER!! Bill & Carole Ross, Joe & Miriam Smith Ten Commandments of Corvette Owners I. Thou shalt not loan a Corvette to anyone II. Thou shalt not bring a Corvette to an automatic car wash III. Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow owner IV. Thou shalt not swear at Corvette - for it is very temperamental V. Thou shalt not cruise on an unpaved road VI. Thou shalt not pass a fellow Corvette owner in distress 19

VII. Thou shalt not feed Corvette with budget grade fuel VIII. Thou shalt not expose Corvette to severe weather conditions IX. Thou shalt not forget to activate alarm X. Thou shalt not acknowledge a Miata or 350Z as being true sports cars 2014-15 CVCC Sponsor: Maritime Motors Chevrolet 20

The Sarbellos and their 81 Silver/Blue Coupe On Sunday May 3, 2015, Linda Sarbello had her 1981 Silver/Blue coupe entered into the local Northeast Chapter NCRS Spring meet. This was held at Street Rod Steve's Garage, Wallingford, CT. Since we have previously discussed in this newsletter the nature of this type of event for our 1970 LT1, we will not repeat it again. After an exhaustive judging review, the car scored an NCRS Top Flight at 99.2 out of 100. This event was attended in order to determine its originality condition in anticipation of entering the vehicle next year in the NCRS National Meet to be held in Warwick, RI. The reason this Corvette did so well was because the previous owners were meticulous about keeping it original and low mileage. It has earned numerous awards including previous NCRS Top Flights, Bloomington Gold, Gold Spinner Award and Triple Crown. 26
