Come early, (around 6) to eat and fellowship and we will begin the meeting at 7:00 P.M.

A word from the President August proved to be a hot month. Jean and I found that most of our riding was better after the sun went down. However, cooler weather will be here very soon. The fall riding season is almost here. Along with the cooler weather come the beautiful colors as the trees begin to prepare for winter. I enjoy spending the days on the bike during this time of the year. I am looking forward to the Louisiana CMA State Rally at Eunice and the Changing of the Colors Rally next month at Iron Mountain. If you haven t attended either of these before then I strongly encourage you to make plans now to attend them if at all possible. The time to meet and fellowship with other Louisiana CMA family at the state rally is great and the preaching will be even better. John Ogden, Jr. will be bringing the messages so I know they will be filled with excitement and challenges as we look to the future of Louisiana CMA and what God has planned for us. What can I say about the Changing of the Colors Rally other than it is my favorite rally of the year. There is just something about being on the mountain with 2000 Christian bikers serving God and seeking to praise Him, surrounded by the beauty of the mountain. The preaching services will be so exciting and uplifting and the praise and worship is always the best. It will be time to elect new officers in November which means that we will be holding nominations at the October meeting. We need to be in prayer about the leadership of the chapter and what role God has for each of us. There are plenty of offices and jobs to go around so we need to heed to God s calling as to which position He would have us fill. It is not about us and what we want but rather it is about us being obedient to God s call on our life which includes being an active participant in the leadership of the chapter. Please spend some extra time seeking God s will for your life within the chapter. As we look forward to the next few months of rallies and rides we need to remember that God put us in CMA to reach the lost. As you go on your bike be ready to share His word with those you meet. Every time you stop you need to be mindful of why God put you in that place; it is to share the Gospel and to point others to Christ. So pray, study, and wear your Colors and be ready to be used by God. It s All About JESUS! David Smith, President As we look toward the upcoming fall season and all the opportunities we will have to fellowship with our CMA family I want to encourage you to take advantage of as many of them as you can. I know James is planning some great chapter rides for the next few months. We will also continue to share a meal and fellowship the first and third Monday of each month at Bikes and Burgers. God can and will use any and all of our rides to allow us to grow closer to Him as we grow closer to each other and share His love with those we meet along the way. Colors Rally 2011 Will you be in this year s pictures?

Chaplain s Corner Change your Garments 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. Zechariah 3:3-4 Like Joshua, when God found us we had on filthy garments too, but there was a way made where we could go from filthy garments to garments of righteousness. Through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, God is able to change our garments from filthy to clean. 10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10 When the trumpet sounds (and it will) we better have on those new garments. It truly is all about JESUS! Norma Sharp, Chaplain Road Captain Report Well, September is here, and hopefully we'll have some cooler weather soon, maybe we can have more rides. On August 4th breakfast and great fellowship was enjoyed by David and Jean, Donnie, Dillon, H.O., Rita and me at Buhlow Lake fly-in. It's nice and relaxing sitting out by the lake with good food and friends. On August 6th Bikes and Burgers were enjoyed by all who were there. Those attending were: H.O. and Paula, Bill and Norma, David and Jean, Dillon, Dennis, Rita and me. We ate at The Barn in Columbia, and had good food, laughter and fellowship with each other and also the staff of the restaurant. Thunder and clouds caused us to leave a little earlier than planned, but it was a fun evening. I was planning a ride to Natchez for supper at Cock of the Walk Restaurant and a suggestion was made to ride to Ferriday, go North on 65, have a picnic lunch before getting into Mississippi, go on to Vicksburg, then travel down the Natchez Trace Parkway to Natchez for supper at Cock of the Walk Restaurant. I hope that we can all join together for this ride, more details to follow. Since Labor Day is upon us, I thought I would pass on these quotes: Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. Abraham Lincoln; and from Saint Augustine: I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that are wise and very beautiful; but I have never read in either of them: Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden. Any suggestions of somewhere you might like to ride to, please let me know. I thought maybe a ride to Natchitoches a little later might be nice. SAFETY TIPS: *Don't forget to turn off your turn signal light after a turn or lane change. *Remember slippery pavement makes stopping quickly very difficult.

I often notice people reading our tee shirts, sometimes this leads to conversation and questions, so wear those colors as often as you can. You never know where it might lead. It s all about Jesus. This month I want to do something different and just give you a list of some of the goofy and not so goofy holidays I found listed for September. I will, however, still give you some details on one or two. This month s holidays include: National Courtesy Month, Chicken Month (eat mor chikin), National Beheading Day, Chocolate Milk Shake Day, National Video Games Day, Defy Superstition Day, Fortune Cookie Day, National Peanut Day, Positive Thinking Day, Uncle Sam Day, National Cream-Filled Donut Day, Make a Hat Day, Felt Hat Day, Collect Rocks Day, Step Family Day, Mayflower Day, Mexican Independence Day, National Play Doh Day, National Women's Friendship Day, Working Parents Day, National Apple Dumpling Day, Citizenship Day, Constitution Day, National Cheeseburger Day, International Talk Like A Pirate Day, National Butterscotch Pudding Day, National Punch Day, International Peace Day, Miniature Golf Day, POW/MIA Recognition Day, World Gratitude Day, Business Women's Day, Elephant Appreciation Day, International Rabbit Day, Checkers Day, Dog in Politics Day, National Cherries Jubilee Day, National Comic Book Day, Johnny Appleseed Day, Crush a Can Day, Ask a Stupid Question Day, National Good Neighbor Day, Native American Day, Confucius Day and National Mud Pack Day. Since most of us will be together at State Rally on this date, I thought that we should make special plans for September 22 which just happens to be Elephant Appreciation Day. Perhaps instead of a ride on boring motorcycles that morning, we could find a local elephant to give us all a ride? Who, me?

On a more serious note, the third Friday in September (this year September 21) is recognized as POW/MIA Recognition Day. It is a day of remembrance and hope for the speedy and safe return of American Prisoners of War, and those still Missing in Action. It also seeks the return of the remains of fallen soldiers. The first official commemoration of POW/MIAs was July 18, 1979 and was the result of resolutions passed in Congress. The first national ceremony was held on that date. Over the next several years, it was held on varying dates of the year. Finally, in 1986, The National League of Families proposed the third Friday in September as a day to recognize and remember POW/MIAs. This date was selected, as it is not associated with any wars. Each year, the president of the United States issues a proclamation on this day. Please take a few moments on that date, to remember our missing soldiers, and those held as prisoners of war. Say a prayer for POWs and MIAs. Also, write to your senators and congressmen to urge continued and increased effort towards bringing every service man and woman home. From the Editor Most of you Victory Riders know that I was a schoolteacher for 27 years. While it is true that my major in college was PE and that s what I taught for most of those years, my minor was in English and at one time I taught high school English. I ve heard it said that old habits are hard to break and I guess that s true because I have been accused of reading the newspaper with a red pen in my hand. Old schoolteachers just can t seem to help correcting papers! When I began this job as your newsletter editor I sometimes found it difficult to make corrections in the articles submitted by the officers, after all, they are adults, not my students. But realizing that part of the job of an editor is to correct grammatical mistakes, I did, and still do, what I am supposed to do; that is to change things that are wrong and make them right. I said all of that to say this: why then do I find it so difficult to let God take what is wrong in me and make it right? After all, isn t that His job? Jean Smith

Panama City Beach August 2012 They knew we were there! At the Buhlow Lake airport breakfast on September 1 we were joined by Ron, Kathy, Lewis, Jimbo and Jodee. Jean, Rita, Paula and Jeanie, what more can I say? James, Rita, Norma, Bill, Jean, David What beautiful sunsets we saw from the balcony of our condo. If you have pictures of events, e-mail them to me & I will include them in a future newsletter!
