Welcome to Saint David s United Church

Come In, Come In and Sit Down Come in, come in and sit down, You are a part of the family. We are lost and we are found, And we are a part of the family.

You know the reason why you came, Yet no reason can explain, So share in the laughter and Cry in the pain, for we are a part of the family.

Come in, come in and sit down, You are a part of the family. We are lost and we are found, And we are a part of the family.

God is with us, in this place, Like a mother s warm embrace. We re all forgiven by God s grace, For we are a part of the family.

Come in, come in and sit down, You are a part of the family. We are lost and we are found, And we are a part of the family.

There s rest for the weary and health for us all; There s a yoke that is easy, and a burden that s small. So come in and worship and answer the call, for we are a part of the family.

Come in, come in and sit down, You are a part of the family. We are lost and we are found, And we are a part of the family.

Call to Worship Voice 1: Since the very beginning Voice 2: We ve lived with God. People: As one body in Christ we ve journeyed long

Voice 1: But the church, it seems, is not enough. Voice 2: And now? People: We must journey home by Lenten roads.

O God, Hear My Prayer (Jacques Berthier) O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: When I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: Come and listen to me. (Repeat)

All: Since the very beginning, God, we have lived in community as one body in Christ we have been the church. It has been the bulwark of our faith and our greatest source of strength. And yet we remain a house divided our members at

odds as if there d never been any unity of purpose or Spirit. But we are not without unity of purpose or Spirit. We are unified in Christ and are one with you. So please, God, help us hold onto our unity for the road ahead is dark and we will need it come the end.

O God, Hear My Prayer (Jacques Berthier) O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: When I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: Come and listen to me.

Don t Be Afraid Don t be afraid. My love is stronger, My love is stronger than your fear. Don t be afraid. My love is stronger And I have promised, Promised to be always near.

I am the Church I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus, All around the world! Yes, we re the church together!

The church is not a building, The church is not a steeple, The church is not a resting place, The church is a people!

I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus, All around the world! Yes, we re the church together!

We re many kinds of people With many kinds of faces, All colors and all ages, Too from all times and places.

I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus, All around the world! Yes, we re the church together!

And when the people gather, There s singing and there s praying, There s laughing and there s crying Sometimes, all of it saying:

I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus, All around the world! Yes, we re the church together!

I count if I am ninety, Or nine or just a baby, There s one thing I am sure about And I don t mean maybe.

I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus, All around the world! Yes, we re the church together!

FAITH

Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying Lord, listen to your children praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, Send us love, send us power, send us grace!

The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

2 Lord s Prayer Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

1 st Samuel 16:1-13

The Lord s my shepherd, I ll not want; He makes me down to lie In pastures green; he leadeth me The quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again, And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, e en for His own name s sake.

Yea, though I walk through death s dark vale, Yet will I fear none ill; For Thou art with me, and thy rod And staff me comfort still.

My table Thou hast furnishèd In presence of my foes; My head thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in God s house for evermore My dwelling-place shall be.

Matthew 18:15-20

Sacred Space Pause, Pray, Reflect One: All: One: Hear the Word of scripture. In the Spirit we will listen. Pause. Pray. Reflect. And in silence enjoy this moment of sacred space.

Conflict and Community

Hymn: VU 679 Let There Be Light

Let There Be Light Let there be light, Let there be understanding, Let all the nations gather, Let them be face to face.

Open our lips, Open our minds to ponder, Open the door of concord Opening into grace.

Perish the sword, Perish the angry judgment, Perish the bombs and hunger, Perish the fight for gain.

Hallow our love, Hallow the deaths of martyrs, Hallow their holy freedom, Hallowed by your name.

Your kingdom come, Your Spirit turn to language, Your people speak together, Your Spirit never fade.

Let there be light, Open our hearts to wonder, Perish the way of terror, Hallow the world God made.

Offertory Prayer

Prayers of the Community

Spirit, Open My Heart Spirit, open my heart to the joy and pain of living. As you love may I love, in receiving and in giving. Spirit open my heart.

God, replace my stony heart With a heart that s kind and tender. All my coldness and fear To your grace I now surrender.

Spirit, open my heart to the joy and pain of living. As you love may I love, in receiving and in giving. Spirit open my heart.

Write your love upon my heart As my law, my goal, my story. In each thought, word and deed, May my living bring you glory.

Spirit, open my heart to the joy and pain of living. As you love may I love, in receiving and in giving. Spirit open my heart.

May I weep with those who weep, Share the joy of sister, brother. In the welcome of Christ, May we welcome one another.

Spirit, open my heart to the joy and pain of living. As you love may I love, in receiving and in giving. Spirit open my heart.

Wherever You May Go Wherever you may go, I will follow, And your people shall be my people too. Wherever you may go, I will follow, For I would be faithful, loyal and true.

Say the word and I will stay, I will never go away, We will travel side by side And God s love will be our guide.

Wherever you may go, I will follow, And your people shall be my people too. Wherever you may go, I will follow, For I would be faithful, loyal and true.

From beginning to the end I will always be your friend, When you need me, I ll be there, You can trust my faithful care.

Wherever you may go, I will follow, And your people shall be my people too. Wherever you may go, I will follow, For I would be faithful, loyal and true.
