Processional hymn: Will you come and follow me If I but call your name? Will you go where you don t know And never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known, Will you let my life be grown In you and you in me? Will you leave yourself behind If I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind And never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer In you and you in me? Will you set the prisoners free And never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean And do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean In you and you in me? Will you love the you you hide If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same? Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you And never be the same. In your company I ll go Where your love and footsteps show. Thus I ll move and live and grow In you and you in me. By John L. Bell (b.1949) and Graham Maule (b. 1958) Gathering In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Confession We are invited to confess our sins. Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy Christ, have mercy Christ, have mercy Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy God s forgiveness is proclaimed. Gloria Gloria, gloria, in excelsis deo Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia. Collect Faithful Creator, whose mercy never fails: deepen our faithfulness to you and to your living Word, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Liturgy of the Word Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 It is written in the Scriptures, I believed, so I spoke. Our faith is like this, too. We believe, and so we speak. God raised the Lord Jesus from death. And we know that God will also raise us with Jesus. God will bring us together with you, and we will stand before him. All these things are for you. And so the grace of God is being given to more and more people. This will bring more and more thanks to God for his glory. So we do not give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made new every day. We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory. That glory is much greater than the troubles. So we set our eyes not on what we see but on what we cannot see. What we see will last only a short time. But what we cannot see will last forever. We know that our body the tent we live in here on earth will be destroyed. But when that happens, God will have a house for us to live in. It will not be a house made by men. It will be a home in heaven that will last forever. This is the word of the Lord Thanks be to God 2

Gospel Procession and Reading Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! The Lord be with you and also with you Hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark (1: 16-20). Glory to you, O Lord. When Jesus was walking by Lake Galilee, he saw Simon and Simon s brother, Andrew. They were fishermen and were throwing a net into the lake to catch fish. Jesus said to them, Come and follow me. I will make you fishermen for men. So Simon and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed him. Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two more brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in their boat, preparing their nets to catch fish. 20 Their father Zebedee and the men who worked for him were in the boat with the brothers. When Jesus saw the brothers, he called them to come with him. They left their father and followed Jesus. This is the gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. Talk Affirmation of Faith We believe in God the Father, From whom every family In heaven and on earth is named. We believe in God the Son, Who lives in our hearts through faith, And fills us with his love. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, Who strengthens us With power from on high. We believe in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Intercessions This response is used: God of love hear our prayer. At the end: Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ Peace The peace of the Lord be always with you. and also with you. Offertory Hymn: During the hymn there will be a collection for the work of the church. Children are invited to gather around the altar during the hymn. 3

O Jesus, I have promised To serve thee to the end; Be thou for ever near me, My Master and my Friend: I shall not fear the battle If thou art by my side, Nor wander from the pathway If thou wilt be my guide. O let me feel thee near me: The world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, The tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, Around me and within; But, Jesus, draw thou nearer, And shield my soul from sin. O let me hear thee speaking In accents clear and still Above the storms of passion, The murmurs of self-will; O speak to reassure me, To hasten or control; O speak, and make me listen, Thou guardian of my soul. O Jesus, thou hast promised To all who follow thee, That where thou art in glory There shall thy servant be; And, Jesus, I have promised To serve thee to the end: O give me grace to follow, My Master and my Friend. O let me see thy foot-marks, And in them plant mine own; My hope to follow duly Is in thy strength alone: O guide me, call me, draw me, Uphold me to the end; And then in heaven receive me, My Saviour and my Friend. John Ernest Bode ( 1816-1874) Eucharistic Prayer The Lord be with you and also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give thanks and praise. Lord of all life, you created the universe, where all living things reflect your glory. You give us this great and beautiful earth, to discover and to cherish. You give us your love, even when things go wrong. Jesus knew hurt and pain. Through him you wipe away our tears, and fill us with your peace. You made us all, each wonderfully different, to join with the angels and sing your praise: 4

Sung: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The priest recalls the Last Supper, ending with: And now with all your saints we give you glory, through Jesus Christ, in the strength of the Spirit, today and for ever. Amen. The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread. Agnus Dei sung: Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us. Jesus, redeemer of the world, grant us peace. Invitation to Communion You are welcome to come forward. If you are a member of any church where you receive communion you are also welcome to receive communion here. If you have not had your first communion, or you do not wish to do receive today, then carry this service book or bow your head when at the rail and the priest will pray a blessing for you instead. Hymn during Communion: Brother, sister, let me serve you, Let me be as Christ to you; Pray that I may have the grace To let you be my servant too. We are pilgrims on a journey, And companions on the road; We are here to help each other Walk the mile and bear the load. I will hold the Christ-light for you In the night-time of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, Speak the peace you long to hear. 5

I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh, I'll laugh with you; I will share your joy and sorrow Till we've seen this journey through. Recessional Hymn: He's got the whole world in his hands. (x4) He's got you and me, brother, in his hands. (x3) When we sing to God in heaven, We shall find such harmony, Born of all we've known together Of Christ's love and agony. He's got the whole world in his hands. He's got you and me, sister, in his hands.(x3) He s got the little tiny baby in his hands... (x3) Brother, sister, let me serve you, Let me be as Christ to you; Pray that I may have the grace To let you be my servant too. He's got everybody here in his hands.(x3) By Obie Philpot CCL 424001 dated 10.06.18 By Richard A. M. Gillard (b.1953) Prayer after Communion The priest says a prayer, to which all respond Amen.
