-3- SALVATION STUDY 1 1. All have sinned and need a Saviour. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 2. All must repent and turn from sin to Jesus Christ. Luke 13:3 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Acts 2:38b -...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,... 3. All must open their hearts to Jesus Christ and take Him as Partner and Saviour to be saved. John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (With all of your mind, faith and emotions, say, Lord Jesus, come into my heart. I trust You now. I receive You now. ) John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (Confess: Lord Jesus, right now I trust You. Right now I believe. Right now I surrender my life to You. ) Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ( Father, in the name of Jesus, I have called. I confess that You have saved me. I have received you into my heart. I am now a son of God. I have eternal life now. ) 4. Salvation is a free gift based upon the death and Stephen Nemeth - 3 - January 1998

-4- resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 5. Now that you have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour of your life, you are born of the Spirit and have everlasting life. You are now in the family of God. John 3:3b -...Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:6b -...that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 4:24a - God is a Spirit:... (Confess: I have received Jesus Christ as my Lord. I have been born of the Spirit. I now have a spirit nature like my heavenly Father. I also have an earthly body that must be brought into subjection to my heavenly spirit nature. This will be a battle of the flesh and the Spirit. However, in Jesus Name, I will keep under my body and bring it into subjection to the Spirit. ) 1 Corinthians 9:27 - But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. John 5:24b -...He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (Confess: I am now a believer. I now have everlasting life. I shall not come into judgment. I will live for You. ) 6. I recognize that I walk by faith and not by feelings.

-5-2 Corinthians 5:7 - (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) ( Sometimes I may feel like I am lost because of feelings. I refuse to believe a lie. I walk by what the Word of God says. God s Word says that I am saved because I have received Jesus Christ by faith. ) 7. I will confess my sins to the Lord. 1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ( If I should make a mistake and sin, I will ask the Lord to forgive me. I will do this immediately. Then I will begin to thank Him that He has forgiven me. I will refuse to go by feelings. I will keep thanking Him by faith. The joy of the Lord will soon return to my life. )

-6- BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST STUDY 2 1. For believers only. Luke 11:13 - If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Only saved people can call God their Father. Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Repentance and obedience to Christ bring salvation. Following this comes the gift of the Holy Ghost. ) 2. The Holy Spirit always fell on believers. Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power (not salvation), after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 2:4 - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 8:14-17 - Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. (They had received the Word. They had Christian baptism. They were saved. Following this, they received the Holy Ghost.) Acts 19:2-6 - He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

-7- And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (If Paul baptized them, I am sure they were saved. Note: Following this experience came the Holy Ghost.) Ephesians 1:13 - In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (This is the same group we just dealt with in Acts 19. They were from the Ephesian church. Note: The gospel of your salvation will get you saved. Following this came the baptism in the Holy Spirit - after ye believed ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit. ) 3. Take the Holy Ghost by faith now. Mark 11:24b -...What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Matthew 7:7 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Ask the Lord for the Holy Spirit. Now receive Him into your heart by faith. Feelings may or may not come immediately. Now act like you have Him. Let all nine gifts of the Spirit begin to operate in your life. Read of them in - 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 - For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:) 4. Does speaking with tongues accompany the baptism in the Holy Ghost?

-8- Acts 2:4 - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 10:44-46 - While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Acts 19:6b -...the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Mark 16:17 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

-9- HEALING STUDY 3 1. Healing is in God. Psalm 42:11b -...who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 105:37 - He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. Psalm 91:10-11 - There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. (Confess this. Believe it. Refuse to believe the devil s lies and sickness. Believe in healing instead.) Jeremiah 33:6 - Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. (Confess that the Lord is healing you now.) 2. Healing is in the atonement. 1 Peter 2:24b -...by whose stripes ye were healed. Psalm 103:3 - Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Matthew 8:16-17 - When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. (Meditate on this. Jesus can meet any need that you have today. Evil spirits must depart in the presence of His Word. Release yourself into His healing power. He healed all that were sick. He heals you today. He already bore your sickness. You stop carrying them around.)

-10-3. Healing by the hand of Jesus. Matthew 4:23 - And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matthew 12:15b -...and he healed them all; Matthew 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 4. Healing by the hand of believers. Matthew 10:1 - And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Acts 5:16 - There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were hea led every one. (Confess: God is my health today. Think on this. Let this sink deep into your spirit. Do this daily. Let His health become your health. Refuse to be feeble. It may be possible to get a little slow when you hit eighty or ninety, but do not anticipate it or prematurely accept it. Be like Caleb. He was as strong in his latter years as he was in his early years. Exercise and take care of your body. Eat properly. Do not anticipate getting old and feeble. God does forgive your iniquities. He does heal all your diseases. Do not let any of them hang around. He healed all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Hang in there. Do not let any sickness talk you into letting it stay in your body. Live a holy life.

-11- PRAISE STUDY 4 Psalm 57:7-9 - My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. 1. Praise is beautiful to God and spiritually minded people. Psalm 33:1 - Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Psalm 147:1 - Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. 2. Praise God continually. Psalm 34:1 - I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. (We are either yielding to God s love and worship or doubt, worry, strife and turmoil.) Psalm 71:6b -...my praise shall be continually of thee. (Learn to praise God at all times rather than fuss. ) Psalm 71:8 - Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. Psalm 113:3 - From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord s name is to be praised. Psalm 119:164a - Seven times a day do I praise thee... 3. The New Testament church practiced praise. Acts 2:47a - Praising God, and having favour with all the people... Luke 24:53 - And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

-12- Hebrews 13:15b -...let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,... Acts 3:8-9 - And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God: 4. Praise glorifies the Lord. Psalm 50:23 - Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God. 5. Praise Him for everything regardless of feeling. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (Regardless of feelings, praise Him!) 6. Praise brings God to you. Psalm 65:1a - Praise waiteth for thee, O God,... Psalm 22:3 - But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (The Lord is enthroned in our midst as we praise Him.) 7. Praise brings victory. Psalm 106:47 - Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. 2 Chronicles 20:22 - And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. Joshua 6:20b -...the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat,... Acts 16:25-26 - And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

-13-26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one s bands were loosed. 8. Praise is to be taught to the people. 2 Chronicles 23:13b -...such as taught to sing praise... (We need to be stirred up. We need to be taught to praise the Lord. We do not always feel like praising God. We must learn to praise Him whether we feel like it or not.) 9. Absence of praise is a sign of death. Psalm 150:6 - Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 115:17a - The dead praise not the LORD,... Isaiah 38:18-19 - For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. 19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

-14- MEEKNESS AND HUMILITY STUDY 5 Psalm 147:6a - The LORD lifteth up the meek:... (God is lifting me up to a new level of growth today.) Isaiah 29:19a - The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD,... Matthew 5:5 - Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 11:29 - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (As He is so am I in this world, therefore, by faith, I am meek.) 1 John 4:17 - Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 6:1 - Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Timothy 2:24-25 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; Ephesians 4:1-2 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Numbers 12:3 - (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) Psalm 149:4 - For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. (I confess that the Lord is blessing me today. He is beautifying my life today with Jesus.) Psalm 22:26 - The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek

-15- him: your heart shall live for ever. Psalm 25:9-10 - The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. 10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. (I confess that the Lord is guiding me. He is teaching me His way today. His path for me today is filled with mercy and truth.) Psalm 37:11 - But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 76:9b -...God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. Isaiah 57:15b -...I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Matthew 18:4 - Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 23:12 - And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (God favors the humble. Confess this. Believe it.) James 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (Walk softly before the Lord all the days of your life. Seek His face constantly. He is promoting you.) Matthew 5:3 - Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

-16- Be humble and tender before God and your fellow man. The servant of the Lord must not strive. He must be gentle unto all men. Confess that your spirit is tender. Confess that you hunger for more of God. Be a peacemaker today. Anticipate growth in these areas. Work on these attitudes.

-17- PROTECTION FROM THE ENEMY STUDY 6 1. Read Psalm ninety-one. (Put your name or the first person pronoun where applicable. Make the whole psalm very personal to you.) 2. Protection while traveling. Psalm 33:17-20 - An horse (a car?) is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. (Confess: The Lord is my shield against accidents today. The eyes of the Lord are upon me today. ) 3. God is the only true Protection. Proverbs 21:31 - The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD. (Confess: God is protecting my loved ones today. ) 4. Protection for families night or day. Isaiah 14:30b -...the needy shall lie down in safety:... Proverbs 3:23-26 - Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

-18-25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. (Put your name in each section and confess: I shall walk in my way safely. My foot shall not stumble. God is taking care of me today. ) Think these scriptures over and over to yourself and to the Lord. Develop an attitude of worship. Let these scriptures take you right to the throne of God.

-19- LOVE STUDY 7 1. Love is God s nature. Jeremiah 31:3b -...I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 1 John 4:16b -...God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 2. Therefore love is to be manifested in God s children. Matthew 5:44b-45 -...Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Hebrews 10:24 - And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 1 Peter 1:22b -...see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 3. Love is a command. John 15:12 - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 13:34a - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another;... John 15:9-10 - As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father s commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:17 - These things I command you, that ye love one another. Matthew 22:37b -...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 1 Corinthians 16:14 - Let all your things be done with charity (love).
