February is turning out to be an exciting month! Parish religious education students in all grades will be taking their next steps towards receiving the sacraments of first communion and first reconciliation. All students needing these sacraments must attend one of the retreats this month in order to be able to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation in March. All students not baptized. St Anthony s will need to bring a valid baptism certificate from the parish they were baptized at. Students baptized at St Anthony s will need to provide a baptism date. Parents and or Godparents do not need to attend. GRADES 3-5 ATTEND ONE OF THESE TWO RETREAT DATES: SATURDAY 2/16 10AM TO 12PM LOWER CHURCH OR SUNDAY 2/17 5 TO 7PM YOUTH ROOM GRADES 6-8 AND CONFIRMATION STUDENTS NEEDING SACRAMENTS ATTEND ONE OF THESE TWO RETREAT DATES: SATURDAY 2/23 10AM TO 12 PM LOWER CHURCH OR SUNDAY 2/24 5 TO 7 PM YOUTH ROOM Sometimes we feel that because we don t have children receiving these sacraments this year or maybe we don t have children at home that we are not involved. Yet, as the Body of Christ we all have a responsibility towards these young ones. How can we accompany these youth on their journey? One important way is by our personal prayers of course. Please lift up these young ones, their parents, and the sacramental preparation teams in your prayers! Another is by working with our own children, reaffirming their positive decision to take a stand for their Catholic faith, no matter which sacraments they have taken. Do they know the three most important prayers for a Catholic, the Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be? No matter how little they are we can help them begin to learn these most important prayers. If they know these can we help them further mature by learning prayers such as the Rosary, the Angelus, or the Divine Mercy Chaplet? Have they gone to the sacrament of reconciliation recently? Let s bring them and set a good example in regularly confessing our sins. Our confirmation students are reading the books of Genesis, Matthew, and the Psalms over the next few months. Can we journey with them by reading these Bible books as well? As our community prepares the young and old to receive the sacraments and progress on the path of full participation in the life of the Church we have the responsibility and privilege to examine our lives and the lives of our children and see where we can make changes to accompany them. The Gospel message of Jesus Christ is bearing much fruit in our parish! May we all continue to move forward as the St Anthony parish community in glorifying God! Your fellow servant in Christ, Chris Dear Jesus, in everything I say and in everything I do, in everything today may it glorify you!

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo My Dear Parishioners, This week I will be leading a pilgrimage to Italy and will be returning late on Feb. 26th. Along with Rome, Venice, Florence, Assisi and Orvieto, we will visit Padua Padova the shrine of St. Anthony. I will be praying for you in a special way at our patron s tomb. Through the prayers we offer there, may St. Anthony help us find a deeper faith, a more profound hope, and greater charity. Say a prayer for our safety, good weather, and blessings in all ways. Thank you. I received a letter from the bishop some days ago. He reminded me that my term as Pastor of St Anthony is drawing to an end. This summer the twelve year term as your pastor is completed, however the bishop has granted me a one year extension, ending the summer of 2020. The future rests in the hands of our new bishop -and we ll have to wait his decision on the future of St. Anthony- s and mine. May God s perfect will be done. Have a blessed week.
