Attend the March 17 meeting to hear the report and book sale news. Vote on and help decide which grant applications should receive a donation this year. A special thank you to the hostesses at the January and February meetings. The executive board meeting covered important planning for the rest of the biennium. A big thanks to the board for giving their extra time and carrying out the duties of their office. We are glad Jo Zunker is doing better following her surgery. For all who have had health dealings we wish you a quick recovery. Again I wish to reiterate how important you are to our chapter. Without great members who share their knowledge and skills we would not be able to accomplish such a task as the book sale. What s Inside Julia s Jottings March Meeting Congratulations Bits and Pieces Book Sale Recap January Minutes Dates to Note Executive Board Alpha Xi State has planned a full day of growth for all new chapter officers and Delta Kappa Gamma members Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Casper. Watch for all the details in the ROUNDUP which will be arriving very soon. If you don t go after what you want, you ll never have it. If you don t ask, the answer is always no. If you don t step forward you re always in the same place. ~ Nora Roberts Warmly, Julia Burke, 2012-2014 President Julia Burke March 17th Meeting The March meeting will be held at Triumph High School at 4:15 pm.

March Meeting - Art with Abi By Abi Paytoe Gbayee In addition to hearing the Book Sale report and voting on grant recipients, we will also be having a great time repurposing old t-shirts into scarves. There will be several styles to choose from. Please bring 1-2 t-shirts in colors you like to wear, and are comfortable cutting up. If you have a favorite pair of fabric scissors or a rotary cutter and matt you would like to use for your own project, please bring those along too. Congratulations Congratulations to Patricia Urasky! She has been selected as one of the recipients of the DKG Educational Foundation s 50th Anniversary Award of $1000. The award will be used to buy 10 TI-84 color graphing calculators to be used in East High School s Mathematics classrooms. Patricia says, Research shows that the use of graphing calculators helps improve the mathematical skills and attitudes of reluctant learners. Calculators help students visualize and better understand concepts in mathematics and make real-world connections in a variety of subjects. Bits and Pieces Keeping You in the Loop Look for these in the state newspaper ROUNDUP which should reach us soon: Becky Tish, First Vice President of Alpha Xi State, lists our fill a bag project in her article. Information on Nita Scott, Society Representative to Wyoming s spring leadership training in Casper April 6. Article by our own JoAnn Baumhover. Upsilon Chapter Report by Barb Freudenthal including the names of new members. Alpha Xi State welcome to new and returning members. Registration form, description of breakout workshops, and other information for BLOOM WITH DKG April 26th in Casper. If you plan to attend please get your registration form to JoAnn asap. She sends them all in together. Imagine being in Indianapolis at the International Convention: Keynote speakers include Sarah Sladek, Dr. Ellen Kennedy and Ron Rosenburg. Sladek shares expertise of association membership and how it is changing. Kennedy brings action to life from involvement in striving for a better world and Rosenburg teaches how to double your memory. Get to know the DKG website: If you have found it perplexing to find just the right thing on the DKG website dkg.org headquarters suggests using the search feature in the upper right hand corner as a fast, nofrustrating method for finding an item. One can also scroll to the bottom of the home page for a variety of links and contact information. If you still have problems ask chapter members who find computers friendlier for help.

B ook S ale 2014 R ecap By Dr. Michelle Aldrich Whew! The 31st Annual DKG Used Book Sale is in the books and we have survived yet another successful book sale! Did you know that this is not only a fundraiser for DKG to fund our philanthropic endeavors such as scholarships at U.W. and L.C.C.C. historically but for other groups as well? The Retired Naval Fleet members, Adult Scouters and the Boy Scouts worked right alongside of DKG members to raise money for their respective organizations. Our annual used book sale is a huge community service especially for those who might not be able to purchase new books, aren t able to purchase e-readers, or just like the feel of a book and its pages as they read. Imagine how many more homes have books for their children or how many more books are read because they are available at an affordable price! What would happen to all of the books if they weren t donated and resold? I still believe that our book sale is the biggest recycling project in Cheyenne! Of course, none of this would be possible without our members and all of the work and efforts we take to insure a successful book sale! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for making our annual used book sale yet another successful event!
