Marcel Fable Price Poet Laureate of Grand Rapids Michigan Author of Adrift in a Sea of M&M s...is a Bi-racial North American writer, teaching artist, community activist, and motivational speaker. Fable The Poet is highly noted for his work with the youth; spreading Mental Health Awareness using his own stories to consume the audience. At times, we all feel fragile. We are paper boats entertaining the waves of life. He is an official partner of Mental Health America and is known across the nation for crowd-interactive features that leave those attending enlightened and empowered. what he does. Fable the Poet is the Executive Director of The Diatribe, a NonProfit organization that uses poetry as a tool for youth outreach and empowerment. In the last 2 years, he has been in over 30 Public Schools, and has spoken at over 20 Universities all over the country. Fable is a published author, event host, teaching artist, and community advocate. Growing up lower class rooted in a home with a revolving door of trauma, he has been beaten down by his surrounding over and over again. Growing up in an urban environment he understands that he is always a target, that family has no definition so people should cultivate community every where they go; He does exactly that. Between learning new promotion tactics, fusing his art with music, writing, hosting events, and serving his community, Fable opens his arms to opportunities to challenge others to think outside of the box in many forums. the craft. Fable is one of the most dynamic and exciting new voices in contemporary poetry. He is one of the most talked about artists in regards to Spoken Word in Michigan. With features in M-Live, Out on The Town Magazine, The Grand Rapids Press, Recoil Magazine, Revue Magazine, NPR, PBS, FOX, Grand Rapids Business Journal and on multiple news stations across the country - His passion is only out shadowed by his love and dedication to working with the youth. His weekly show was nominated #15 out of the 50 things you must experience in West Michigan -Grand Rapids Magazine. His latest project #ProjectCastAway is the first ever Spoken Word project to receive notoriety in his state as one of the Best Music Projects of 2016 (88.1 WYCE Grand Rapids). It is a refreshing mixture of mental health awareness, and social awareness fused with Jazz, Blues, and Indie Rock featuring some of the best musicians in the state of Michigan. 4

And is the current Executive Director of The Diatribe, Grand Rapids widest reaching literary NonProfit. The Diatribe uses performing arts to empower young people to share their stories, raise awareness of social issues, and create change within their communities. It is his belief that our youth hold the key to real change all across the social spectrum. He believes that their potential and their drive, if untapped and unbridled, it is what will ultimately shape our world for generations to come. As a student and teacher of art, understands how impactful it can be to have the right media to express ourselves. 5

Ever since we saw a poor Aladdin caress cold brass creating riches, a Robin Williams-voiced genie animated with a Smile that will last longer than the memory of HIM Being seen as Genuinely Happy Everyone has always wanted that One Wish I wish I could get through this. Trust me, you can! I wish Suicide didn t seem so appealing. Remember, a robin flew to the heavens. Please, make other plans. Keep Fighting Through I wish It didn t happen to me. Yet, here you stand. Stronger, weathered, whether you know it or not others have experienced this process. You are the driftwood crafted from a hurricane of experiences. no one the same, bask in that for a while. You are an example to others, a masterpiece that proved worthy of display. Those skeletons hanging, bring them out of the closet accessorize them with new J s, Some fresh shell toes, heels, or flats. Hell, put them in a picture frame. Do not bother with a Do Not Touch Sign. Let the oils of people s fingerprints Leave imprints just as unique as you, Leave the ripples on your open wounds. I know crimson stains same as fresh paint, but don t be ashamed of the scars. One day they will heal, you just need to live to tell the story. Promise me, you will live to tell the story! That you will encourage others to do the same. Your story needs to be heard, believe this. I know when drowning, breathing is hard or wanting to. But promise me you will be the Robin once spiraling to the ground, that chose to give flying another try. Wishes are like prayers, fueled by faith.
