Words of Thanks for Pascha As we celebrate the Feast of Feasts, we express our thanks to many within our parish: We thank all who donated towards the flowers that beautified the Tomb of Christ and our church. We thank all those who gave of their time to help decorate and prepare the church and hall for Good Friday and Pascha. We thank Cantor Professor Joseph Jaeger, Choir Director Paula Kudelko, and our Choir Members, and Dan Hromyak for offering the responses at the divine services during Lent, Holy Week, and Pascha. We thank our altar servers for their assistance at the Holy Altar. We thank Pani Vikkie for organizing the Easter Egg Hunt, and all those who donated candy and helped fill the eggs. We thank Gino Tofani for constructing the new tetrapod icon stand. We thank Renee Maceyko for decorating the Resurrection Icon. We thank Debra Souilliard (Pani Vikkie s mom) for making the fitted white covers for the base of the Cross. Thoughts on Stewardship by Dan Hromyak "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." - Colossians 3:2 Do you put God first in all things? Possessions, money, power, ego can easily become gods to many of us. Do a quick check of what is important to you. Is God at the very top of the list? If not, your priorities need to be re-adjusted. Don't let earthly things become a god before God. "Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, 'Peace be with you.'" - John 20:19 Are you good at making people feel welcome? When you meet someone new, a new neighbor, a new work colleague, a new parishioner, do you make them feel at home? Many of us can probably do a much better job at this. When we make people feel welcome, we make them feel like they are included instead of being excluded. A simple "hello" and a smile goes a long way." 2017 Paschal Message of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops To the Reverend Priests and Deacons, the Monks and Nuns, the Presidents and Members of Parish Councils, the Day, Afternoon, and Church Schools, the Members of Philanthropic Organizations, the Youth and Youth Workers, and the entire Orthodox Christian Family in the United States of America Beloved and faithful children of the Lord, Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen! On the festive occasion of the glorious Resurrection of Christ, and on behalf of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, I greet you with the life-giving and joyous message of Holy Pascha: Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen! As the great Feast of the Resurrection is upon us once again, we are invited to draw our hearts and minds away from that which is dark and to turn toward the Light of Christ; to avoid that which destroys and draw near to the renewal emanating from the Holy Sepulcher. The Feast of Feasts Holy Pascha is the renewal of our minds (Rom 12:2) and the restoration of our souls (Psalm 23:3). The Light of Christ shines out of darkness and into our hearts (2 Cor. 4:6). We are also encouraged by the Lord to extend our personal experiences of Pascha to all people, in fact, to the entire world. And we know that our Lord urges us to love not just those who love us, but even those who hate us and persecute us. Our hearts and minds, therefore, are with the unnamed man, woman and child living along the margins of our own neighborhoods, and with the countless people enduring persecution around the world. We offer our condolences and prayers for the dozens of Coptic Christians who tragically lost their lives as they celebrated Palm Sunday. And we remain vigilant and prayerful that the two Hierarchs who were kidnapped on April 22, 2013, Metropolitan Paul of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and Syriac Archbishop John, both of Aleppo, will safely return to us. The Light of the Holy Resurrection of Christ gives us hope, and while, Prophet Isaiah says, youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, those who wait for

the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary (Isa. 40:31). Together with my brother Hierarchs, the members of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, I extend to you my fervent prayers that you and your loved ones continue to walk in the newness of life of the Holy Resurrection (Romans 6:4). Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen! Prayerfully and with love in the Risen Lord, Archbishop Demetrios of America, Chairman Daily Prayers for Bright Week Bright Week the entire week after Pascha is a special time in the life of the Church. Our joy in the Resurrection overflows from the church into our daily life. In place of your regular morning and evening Prayers, offer these: In the name of the Father, + and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. + Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and to those in the tombs, bestowing life. (three times) Having beheld the resurrection of Christ, let us worship + the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless One. We venerate + Your Cross, O Christ, and we praise and glorify Your holy resurrection; for You are our God, and we know no other than You; we call on Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us venerate + Christ's holy resurrection. For, behold, through the Cross joy has come into all the world. Let us ever bless the Lord, praising His resurrection, for by enduring the Cross for us, He has destroyed death by death. Before the dawn Mary came with the women and found the stone rolled away from the tomb. And they heard from the angel: He abides in life everlasting. Why seek Him among the dead as if He were a man? Behold the burial shroud! Go and proclaim to the world: The Lord is risen and has conquered death. For He is the Son of God and He is the Savior of mankind. You descended into the grave, O Immortal One; yet You destroyed the power of death. As Conqueror, You arose, O Christ God, saying to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, granting peace to Your Apostles, and offering resurrection to the fallen. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your most-pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy + on us. Amen. + Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and to those in the tombs, bestowing life. (three times) And He bestowed upon us eternal life, therefore let us worship + His resurrection on the third day!
