1 THE TASKS OF THE NEW GROUP OF WORLD SERVERS INTRODUCTION In the so-called Blue Books of Alice Bailey Master Djwhal Khul (DK) speaks of a strongly growing group of aspirants and disciples all over the world, which seeks to help the Hierarchy in bringing order out of chaos. This Hierarchy is a group of higher Masters, of which DK is one, which withdrew behind the scenes long ago in order to further the mental development of humanity. Since the fifteenth century the number of aspirants and disciples grew, at first slowly but since the late nineteenth and early twentieth century faster and faster, with a further acceleration since the two world wars. This group is called the New Group of World Servers (NGWS). Esoterically speaking it forms a point of contact for the Hierarchy. When this spiritual contact becomes strong enough the Hierarchy will be no longer hidden and unknown, but can be recognized again on the physical plane. At first this recognition will only be made by the aspirants and disciples, but with the increasing activity of the NGWS in every nation its presence will be recognized all over the world. In short, the main function of the NWGS is helping the Hierarchy in its work to help humanity coming out of chaos. For this seed groups are formed which function in this stage mainly on the inner levels. They still are in their embryonic stage and are not manifested yet in the outer world. The NWGS knows the following ten seed groups: 1. Telepathic Communicators 2. Trained Observers 3. Magnetic Healers 4. Educators of the New Age 5. Political Organizers 6. Workers in the Field of Religion 7. Scientific Observers 8. Psychologists 9. Financiers and Economists 10. Creative Workers The tenth group is composed of the key people in the other nine groups and is therefore a synthesis of the other groups. The first nine seed groups have three tasks each. This paper gives a summary of these 27 tasks. 1. TELEPATHIC COMMUNICATORS The main task of this group is to develop spiritual sensitivity and can be specified in the following three tasks: 1. Installing and enhancing telepathic rapport.
2 2. Externalizing the method of communication between the members of the Hierarchy, which is telepathic communication. 3. Being custodians of group purpose through reception and direction of thought currents. The telepathic communicators are receptive to impression of the Masters who communicate telepathically and who function practically entirely on the mental plane. The members of the Hierarchy have freed themselves from the limitations of brain activity and brain consciousness. Therefore they can function on two planes simultaneously: on the physical plane carrying on normal activities when functioning in a human body, and on the mental plane with the chitta or mind stuff. To be able to communicate with the Hierarchy and to receive their knowledge and suggestions human beings have to learn the method of telepathic communication. This method will make it possible to transcend speech as the method of communication. Already voiceless prayer, aspiration and worship are considered of higher value than the pleadings and proclamations of voiced expression. It is for this stage in the enfoldment of the human race for which humanity has to prepare itself with learning the laws, techniques and processes of telepathic communication. One of the important means for this is the founding of a school of telepathy on the inner planes. This means that such a school will, for the time being, only function behind the scenes and will not be manifested on the physical plane yet. (EOH, p. 31, 36, 37, 41)* 2. TRAINED OBSERVERS The task of this group is closely connected with the astral task of the Hierarchy and can be summarized as achieving freedom from glamour**. It can be further specified in the following three tasks: 1. Dissipating the world illusion and glamour. 2. Acting as a bridge for forces which are seeking etheric expression and which emanate from soul levels, via the mind, skipping the non-existent astral plane and thus living free from glamour. 3. Freeing the souls of men from the surrounding glamour and enable them to achieve liberation. This group has one of the most difficult tasks, which is seeing and teaching others to see reality as it is, and therefore seeing through the illusion of the all pervading glamour which seems very real for humanity with its current state of consciousness. (EOH, p. 39-41)* 3. MAGNETIC HEALERS The task of this group is to bring through the energies of life, emanating from the soul plane, via the mind and excluding the emotional. The healers have to bring these energies through into the physical consciousness and, from the physical level, do their magnetic work. This healing task can be specified in the following three tasks:
3 1. Psychological healing: bringing in the soul and bringing through healing divine energy. 2. Psychic healing: releasing the lower psychic from illusion by excluding the astral world so that the soul or psyche can function with full power. 3. Physical healing: utilizing the healing energy in full waking consciousness upon the physical plane as the result of inner psychological and psychic adjustments. (EOH, p. 42, 46)* 4. EDUCATORS OF THE NEW AGE The task of this fourth group is to bring in the new type of education. Its members focus on the building of the antahkarana and the use of the mind in meditation. They are linking the three points of mental focus: the higher mind, the soul, and the lower mind. In this way a group antahkarana may be established between the fourth human kingdom and the fifth kingdom of the souls. (Discipleship in the New Age, DINA, I, p. 37-38)* This educational task can be split in the following three target groups: 1. Educating the most cultured men, or the advanced thinkers. This is the cultural group of people which consists of two types of individuals who are longer on the path of evolution then the large majority of humanity: a. The souls who, when they were just animal men, were sparked with the mind in the Lemurian epoch (and so became individualized human souls), and who already evolved over a long time during many incarnations. b. The souls who came to earth in Atlantean times and were individualized elsewhere. This group of advanced thinkers has to be educated in applied knowledge, expressed wisdom and occult understanding. It forms the nucleus of the Kingdom of God, which is the next and fifth kingdom humanity (as the fourth kingdom) is evolving to. 2. Educating the middle class. This group represents the current civilization, the so-called general public, or the masses of ordinary intelligent human beings, educated under the current mass educational systems. They are not yet highly cultured, such as the first group, due to a shorter history of evolution. They are able to think, but their thinking is mostly strongly influenced by emotions. This group has to be educated on stimulation of the inflow of the light of wisdom, so that their members can become a bridging group between the first and the third group. In that way they can become the moulders of public opinion
4 and set the new standard of values for the third group: the least advanced members of Humanity. 3. Educating the least advanced. DK states that this is still a vast group who he calls the illiterate masses and still savage races (EOH, p. 49)*. This is a slowly evolving group, due to an even shorter history in evolution than the second group. Its members are only recently separating themselves from the animal condition and gaining some light of knowledge. This is a big contrast with the first group who is nearing the stage of transcending out of humanity into the fifth superhuman kingdom. The large gap between these two groups has to be bridged and this has the attention of the Hierarchy. For this the educational systems and processes have to be adjusted. (EOH, p. 48-49)* 5. POLITICAL ORGANIZERS This is the group who provides political service, a task that is by far the most difficult one of all the seed groups. This is due to two facts: a. The low level of development and education of the majority of humanity b. The low amount of truly first ray people on our planet, which work is often destructive because of the low level of development of the large masses of men. Because of this the ideas of the political organizers often are not recognized and adopted by the masses. This often leads to wrong and forceful reactions of the political organizers. (EOH, p. 51)* This group works in the world of human government and deals with problems of civilization. Their major objective is creating understanding between nations. In fact they are channels of communication between the will of God and the human race, which is a noble task. This work is largely first ray work. (DINA, I, p. 38)* Their task can be split in the following three parts: 1. Statesmanship: those who control government and lead the nations, the socalled politicians. There are four types of government: a. Government by a recognized Spiritual Hierarchy: this is not here yet but lies indefinitely ahead. b. Government by an oligarchy of illumined minds: chosen by the massed thinkers and ruling by education, right understanding, analysis, discussion and experiment. So, not by force! This is not clearly present as yet, but also lies ahead. c. Government by true democracy, with emphasis on the word true. This also is unknown yet. Current democracy is a disguise of dictatorship by politicians and financial forces. This is recognized by a growing group of thinking people. True democracy will evolve in the near future by right
5 education and the steady training of people to recognize the finer values, the more correct point of view, the higher idealism, and the spirit of synthesis and of cooperative unity. This will awaken people and as a result the political field will be purified and the educational system, the legal system and the government will be tied-up. d. Government by dictatorship: this is in fact the actual state of government which can be divided in three parts: rule by monarchy, rule by the leader of some democratic country, or rule by dictators. A marked demarcation between these parts lies in military dictatorship and democratic rule, but the democratic rule is in fact a dictatorship in disguise as is pointed out in point c. 2. Legislators and Law Enforcers: this is the judiciary system, the army and the police. 3. Educators: their task is to raise the standard of the general public to a higher state of political understanding and awareness. (EOH, p. 51-54)* 6. WORKERS IN THE FIELD OF RELIGION The work of this seed group is to formulate the universal platform for the new world religion. It is a channel for the activity of the second ray of love-wisdom, that of the World Teacher which is at present the Christ. (DINA I, p.38)* The following three tasks of this group constitute the platform of the new world religion: 1. Transcendental Mysticism This is: The demonstration of the fact of the spirit of God, both transcendent and immanent, and as a relation to man. The indication of the approach between man and God via the soul. 2. Transcendental Occultism This is the demonstration of: The fact of the divine qualities of the Forces in nature and in man. The method of the utilization of the Forces for divine purposes by man. 3. Transcendental Religion This is the demonstration of: The fact that Humanity as a whole is a complete expression of Divinity. The allied fact of the divine nature and work of the planetary Hierarchy. The mode of the approach of these two groups (Divinity and Humanity) to each other, in group form. (EOH, p. 55)*
6 This is a useful coverage of the three transcendental types in religion not always mentioned. 7. SCIENTIFIC OBSERVERS This group will bring a better understanding of the purpose existing in matter or substance. In other words: through investigation of matter or substance its members will bring in the end a better understanding of the inflowing enlightened purpose of the soul aspect. In this way religion and science are much stronger linked together than most people assume. Religion is concerned with the awakening of the soul in man or form, whilst science is concerned with the outer form as it lives its own life, yet slowly becomes subservient to that purpose and to the impression of the soul. (EOH, p. 57)* Their task can be split in the following three: 1. Formulating the new hypotheses for the next immediate steps in any field of science. 2. Outlining the nature of the incoming forces that will determine and motivate the culture of the time. 3. Formulating those forms of service on the physical plane which will bring forth the Plan. DK wrote that this group couldn t be formed until a certain scientific discovery has been made with which the fact of the soul can be recognized as a creative factor. He stated that such a discovery would be made around 1975. (EOH, p.58)* It seems that this statement didn't come true in time. Until now science has not made discovery of the soul as yet. I think the prophecy has been hindered by materialistic science [and living], and the premature discovery and wrong use of atomic energy for mass destruction. The latter indicates the immaturity and irresponsibility of the human ego. This probably made the Hierarchy put a brake on scientific progress towards the unveiling of the soul as the primeval source (and potential destroyer!) of all forms. This is for the time being too dangerous knowledge for the irresponsible humanity. But, supposing a growing maturity of mankind, the field of quantum physics seems to be very promising in bridging the gap between physics and metaphysics. In the end this group will clear the way of those intellectual restrictions which always have blocked man s approach to the superhuman world. The relation between the subhuman and human will be taken as a field of serious scientific investigation and the existence of such a relation will be proven. 8. PSYCHOLOGISTS The field of psychological service will lift the work of the NGWS out of the realm of the strictly human. Wider issues beside the human will be revealed.
7 This group will do this by working on the following three tasks: 1. Relating the human kingdom to the subhuman kingdoms in nature. This will reveal the place of the fourth human kingdom as an intermediary between the three lower (mineral, vegetable and animal) and the three higher (superhuman and divine) kingdoms. 2. Revealing the fact of the Soul in the three subhuman kingdoms and in the human kingdom. In the subhuman kingdoms the vegetable and animal kingdoms will be emphasized. All lifeforms in all kingdoms are ensouled. There is no matter without soul or consciousness, not even in the mineral kingdom. However, the consciousness of the mineral forms is so far removed from the human that it is difficult to put it in words. We could say that this consciousness is strictly passive and can only start activation after liberation from its form by outside forces, like water, fire or pressure. In the human kingdom this group will relate the soul to the personality, based upon approved techniques of the seven rays and esoteric astrology. 3. Teaching the Plan that is working out at this time in the five kingdoms. This teaching will be based upon information in The Secret Doctrine of Madame Blavatsky and in A Treatise on Cosmic Fire of Alice Bailey. (EOH, p. 58-59 and DINA I, p. 38) 9. FINANCIERS AND ECONOMISTS The project of this group is that of the financial service and it is one of the most practical and interesting ones in the light of the present world situation. Their work involves a right understanding and spiritual appreciation of money as a form of energy. This work can be divided in the following three tasks: 1. Trying to understand the nature of prana, or vital etheric energy. Money is a form of energy which can be generated by activity and which generates activity and rhythm. 2. Studying the processes whereby money has been steadily deflected from personal uses, both in the good and in the evil sense. 3. Studying the Law of Supply and Demand. By this money can be made available for sharing for divine purpose and for spiritual or esoteric work of goodwill. (EOH, p. 59-61, DINA I, p. 39-40) 10. THE CREATIVE WORKERS This tenth group has the task to relate the other nine groups so they can manifest the Plan of the physical plane, leading to the Externalization of the Hierarchy. This
8 synthesizing tenth group is composed of the three key members of the other nine groups. So, this group will have twenty-seven members who are communicators between the third aspect of Divinity, the Creative aspect, and the first aspect, Life. CONCLUSION There is a group of Masters behind the scene which is called the Hierarchy and who work to bring humanity out of chaos. To externalize this Hierarchy and to help them with their work there is a growing group of disciples and initiates which is called the New Group of World Servers (NGWS). This group knows ten seed groups who are also working on the inner planes at this time but who will manifest themselves in the near future with the coming of the Aquarian Age. The work of these ten seed groups covers all possible areas of service in the world. The work of the first three seed groups the Telepathic Communicators, the Trained Observers and the Magnetic Healers have to be mastered by all disciples at some point in time. The other seed groups are more related by ray type. The disciples and initiates have to find out and decide for themselves to which group they are drawn to deliver their service. This paper endeavors to give a clear summary of the tasks of the seed groups to make it easier to decide on this.
