Pentecost Feast this and that.. I would like to thank you for the outstanding generosity that has been shown in recent months in so many ways. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our parish in support of the Honoring our Past, Consecrating our Future campaign that to date, stands at 1.6 million dollars towards our goal of 1.8 million. New pledges are still coming in! We are working towards permits and engineering for the parking lot expansion and will keep you informed as things progress. If you recall, the Diocese of Providence is running its own major capital campaign and parishes are required to give 60% of their overall goal to the Diocese. St. Thomas More, however, received a generous exemption from Bishop Tobin whereby we will give the Diocese a set amount of $360,265 and all monies pledged above and beyond that amount stay at St. Thomas More for our parish improvements. The annual Catholic Charity Appeal is well underway! And again, your generosity is tremendous. Please note, funds donated to the appeal are used exclusively to assist the poor and needy throughout the state of Rhode Island. I am happy to share at this point we are at $102,776 which is 79 % of our $130,092 goal. Please know if you made a pledge to the Honoring our Past, Consecrating our Future campaign, remittance reminders were received last week. This is totally separate from the annual Catholic Charity Fund Appeal. I know they coincided creating some consternation among some! If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Director of Stewardship, Lynn Bamford at 401-486-7616 and she will be happy to help in any way! We had a faith filled Confirmation with Bishop Gruss of Rapid City with 25 candidates experiencing a personal Pentecost. I also attended the at capacity married couples retreat at Enders Island, Connecticut (see photos). This was such a special event for the 23 couples that took the time to come away with the Lord to renew their covenant. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus for spearheading this effort to strengthen marriages and family life. I hope you can make the trek to Providence as our own Brendan Rowley is ordained a transitional deacon Saturday May 26 th at 10AM at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. This is a special moment in the history of our parish. Come and pray and show him spiritual support as he begins ordained ministry. He will be ordained a priest June of 2019. See you at the Knights of Columbus breakfast this Sunday morning at St. Veronica Chapel. Let s support the Knights who do so much outreach to so many in our name! Fr. Taillon

Volunteers are needed for this important ministry. Men s Bible Study Our parish has a very active group of men, who for more than 16 years, have met each Saturday at 7:30AM in a "round table" format to discuss the Sunday scripture readings. It is very informal and attended by some scholarly and not-so-scholarly folks. It s rewarding and even some fun. Bring your coffee and come on over to St. Thomas More parish hall! Pray the Rosary The rosary is prayed each weekday after the 9:00AM Mass at St Thomas More and for the special intention of peace in the world and on Saturday mornings at 8:30AM before Mass. Congratulations! Gavin Carey, Brendan Moricas & Christian Bourbonnais, parishioners who earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Wedding Banns III Michael Racette & Margaret Fox

All are Sent Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the fulfillment of all God's promises in the feast of Pentecost, a feast that has sometimes been called the birthday of the church. One last time, we are reminded that we Christians have received the Holy Spirit, not for our own benefit, but to enable us to follow our Christian vocation. The centerpiece of the scriptures for Pentecost is the account in Acts of the Apostles of the sending of the Holy Spirit to the disciples. The other readings for this Sunday help us to understand what it means to live out our Christian vocation. Paul's letter shows us the gifts and fruits that the Holy Spirit gives to us. John's Gospel reminds us that Jesus has sent all his disciples to share his forgiveness and peace, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
