Development and Peace s long-time Caritas Bangladesh is working hard to restore some dignity to these people who simply yearn to live in peace. Thanks to your donations, Caritas Bangladesh has been able to provide temporary shelters, access to clean water, safe latrines and showers for women and girls, and hygiene kits, and to raise awareness among refugees about safety issues. Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of the Rohingya! Pastoral Pondering This weekend s gospel about the transfiguration of Jesus among Peter, James and John, with this clothes becoming dazzling white and his face changing may make us a little envious. We may think, why can t Jesus do that for me? Why can t he show me his glorified form while I m still on earth? Well, my brothers and sisters, I would propose to you that Jesus has given us a multitude of transfiguration experiences while we are live on this earth! Every day, somewhere in the world, there is the celebration of Holy Eucharist, in which Jesus appears as the Living Lord and Messiah of us all! In that Eucharist, we also get to take Jesus very divinity and humanity in the form of bread and wine, into our very selves! If anything, the disciples would be envious of us, who have been privileged to live a lifetime receiving Jesus in this sacramental way! And yet, the transfiguration moments don t end there. Jesus, our risen Lord, comes to us in the sacrament of reconciliation, when we are made new again by the words spoken on behalf Jesus by the priest. We are given a fresh start, a new perspective, a greater determination to live a life of service to the gospel. We have the ability to see transfiguration moments all around us too, in the daily interactions we have with people who strive to live a holy life and to assist us in our life s trials and tribulations. So when your soul thirsts for such an awesome encounter with Jesus, remember that such experiences are very accessible to us today. All it takes is a willingness on our part to climb the mountain where we find God and be ready to bask in his radiance. A pastoral pondering as we begin our second week of Lent.
