Immaculate Conception, Saint John, Saint Mary & Saint Patrick St. Mary Cemetery Decorated for Memorial Day On a warm Friday a ernoon in late May, several members of St. Mary School 6th grade class were faithful stewards to the parish by assis ng the Catholic Daughters with the long standing prac ce of decora ng the older part of St. Mary Cemetery. This prac ce was begun over 15 years ago by Bob (and Wilma) Hildebrand when Bob was serving as one of the cemetery trustees. Bob felt that the older graves should be decorated for Memorial Day services even though many of those graves no longer had family members in the community to take care of this. The par cipa ng youth were amazed at how giving an hour of their me in service could totally transform the North end of the cemetery. Many of their parents also commented on the a rac ve look when they picked up their youthful steward. And as life so o en does, this prac ce was brought full-circle when Bob Hildebrand passed away in the days just a er Memorial Day and was laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, s ll decorated and looking refined for all who visited or drove past. Thank you to the current group of stewards and to all those who have given some me just before the Memorial Day holiday to show respect for all who are laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery.
