Order of Worship Welcome and greetings David Caines, ruling elder * Call to worship taken from Psalm 86 and Psalm 47 Leader: There is none like you, O Lord, no deeds can compare with yours. All: All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. Leader: For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. All: How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! * Hymn of praise Across the Lands You re the Word of God the Father from before the world began. Ev ry star and ev ry planet has been fashioned by your hand. All creation holds together by the power of your voice. Let the skies declare your glory; let the land and seas rejoice! Refrain: You re the Author of creation; you re the Lord of ev ry man; and your cry of love rings out across the lands. Yet you left the gaze of angels, came to seek and save the lost and exchanged the joy of heaven for the anguish of a cross. With a prayer you fed the hungry; with a word you calmed the sea; yet how silently you suffered, that the guilty may go free! Refrain With a shout you rose victorious, wresting vict ry from the grave and ascended into heaven, leading captives in your way. Now you stand before the Father, interceding for your own; from each tribe and tongue and nation you are leading sinners home! Refrain words Keith Getty and Stuart Townend 2002 Thankyou Music, LLC, ARR, UBP, CCLI Lic. #152036 * Prayer of adoration

Affirmation of faith (9:30) The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Call to confession taken from Romans 13 and Acts 3 Let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Repent, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Hymn of confession (9:30) Jesus Paid It All I hear the Savior say, Your strength indeed is small, child of weakness, watch and pray, find in me your all in all. Refrain: Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe; sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow. Lord, now indeed I find your power, and yours alone, can change the leper s spots, and melt the heart of stone. Refrain And when, before the throne, I stand in him complete, Jesus died my soul to save, my lips shall still repeat. Refrain words by Elvina M. Hal, 1865 Silent prayers of confession Assurance of God s pardoning grace 1 John 4:10; 1 Peter 2:9 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. For you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

* Hymn of assurance O Love That Will Not Let Me Go O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be. O Light that follow st all my way, I yield my flick ring torch to thee; my heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine s blaze its day may brighter, fairer be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red life that shall endless be. words by George Matheson, 1882 Worship in the giving of God s tithe and our offerings Offertory hymn Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts Jesus, thou joy of loving hearts, thou fount of life, thou light of men; from the best bliss that earth imparts we turn unfilled to thee again. Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood; thou savest those that on thee call; to them that seek thee thou art good, to them that find thee all in all. Our restless spirits yearn for thee where er our changeful lot is cast; glad when thy gracious smile we see, blessed when our faith can hold thee fast. O Jesus ever with us stay, make all our moments calm and bright; chase the dark night of sin away, shed o er the world thy holy light. words by Bernard of Clairvaux, ca. 1150 Sacrament of baptism (11:00) Lauren and Thomas Bernal bringing Paxton Barnes Bernal and Evve Soleil Bernal * Scripture reading from Mark 6:7-13 Kakhi Wakefield (9:30) text printed in the bulletin Brad Cobb (11:00) This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Prayer of preparation for the study of God s Word Sermon Moving Out in Mission Jared Huffman, associate pastor

Pastoral prayer * Hymn of response Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken * Benediction * Doxology * Postlude Jesus, I my cross have taken, all to leave and follow thee; destitute, despised, forsaken, thou from hence my all shalt be. Perish every fond ambition, all I ve sought or hoped or known; yet how rich is my condition, God and heav n are still my own. Let the world despise and leave me, they have left my Savior, too; human hearts and looks deceive me; thou art not, like them, untrue. O while thou dost smile upon me, God of wisdom, love and might, foes may hate and friends disown me, show thy face and all is bright. Soul then know thy full salvation, rise o er sin and fear and care; joy to find in every station, something still to do or bear. Think what Spirit dwells within thee, think what Father s smiles are thine! Think that Jesus died to win thee, child of heav n, cans t thou repine? Hasten on from grace to glory, armed by faith and winged by prayer; heav n s eternal days before me, God s own hand shall guide me there. Soon shall close my earthly mission, swift shall pass my pilgrim days, hope shall change to glad fruition, faith to sight, and prayer to praise. words by Henry F. Lyte, 1824, 1833 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. * Congregation standing as you are able Musicians for this week: Micah Davis French horn Elsbeth DeRuischer vocalist Nathan DeRuischer vocalist David Henry guitar, vocalist Hannah Lutz viola Sam Miller violin Jennifer Mixon vocalist John Reeder piano

WORLD MISSIONS SPOTLIGHT: AMANI YA JUU AND AMANI YA JUU IN CHATTANOOGA In 1996, LMPC-supported missionary Becky Chinchen founded Amani ya Juu, which means Peace from Above. Amani Ya Juu exists to facilitate whole-life peace in the lives of its team members by operating as a self-sustaining business community working in devotion to God. They employ women who use beautiful African materials to create high quality fair trade home goods and accessories. While Amani s production remains based in Africa, since 2012 Peter and Joanna (Chinchen) Vaughn have been working to establish Amani s U.S.-based distribution warehouse and store here in Chattanooga. Amani Chattanooga plays a crucial role in the operational sustainability of the African centers. Sales from Amani Chattanooga sustain one-third of the approximately 120 families supported through the ladies work at Amani. The U.S. also has the greatest potential for growth, so with God s blessing the Chattanooga center will be able to provide an ever-increasing demand for the product of the African Centers, enabling them to expand their ministry. Pete and Joanna also have a heart for ministering to the materially poor here in Chattanooga. Amani Chattanooga is located strategically for engaging with struggling communities, and developing relationships within their East Chattanooga neighborhood has been important. Amani Chattanooga actively seeks to help those with obstacles to employment through intentional hiring practices and Christ-centered job training. As the center grows, their goal is to hire from a diverse cross-section of Chattanooga s demographics, attracting visitors to an area of Chattanooga with a vibrancy and personality that is truly unique. The Vaughns are longtime members of LMPC, and they, along with their four children, will be a part of our 2018 World Missions Conference, Africa: Continent of Contrasts, March 16-18. AFRICA MISSIONS OPPORTUNITY: SOUTH SUDAN Ophthalmologists, optometrists, and nurses, along with committed volunteers, are needed for an upcoming trip to South Sudan, April 20-May 2, 2018. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Jim Sutherland at 423-330-3182.

Mark 6:7-13 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. 8 These were his instructions: Take nothing for the journey except a staff--no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra tunic. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them. 12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE In the event of inclement weather on a Sunday morning, the church office will send an email and a text to members and regular attenders as soon as a decision is made to adjust the worship schedule. We will also post the change clearly on the home page of the website and on our Facebook page. If you would like to opt in to receive text messages concerning schedule changes such as these, please visit lmpc.org/access. Our general policy in response to inclement weather on Sunday morning is the following: No 8:10 a.m. worship service No nursery or Sunday School 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services will take place in the fellowship hall and sanctuary. Other scheduled events for Sunday, including evening prayer, will be addressed as soon as possible.
