It was a pleasure to be with everyone out at the UWGB Union. A truly beautiful facility with large windows and ample space. I was so appreciative of the full house we had for our Celebration Brunch, fellowship and Silent Auction. The gathering was very festive. Congratulations to our many raffle winners. The weekend was truly special. Everyone was honored to see our Charter Members at each Mass be recognized as they were greeted with a big applause. Very nice. The Golf Scramble that followed the Brunch opened up to a beautiful day of sunshine that brought out many good souls. Beautiful weather. There is a talk of a separate Golf Outing next year. I remember participating in one during my first year here. Much fun! So thank you again to all our committee members, parish staff and as always, the hidden helpers all along the way, great job and much appreciation. It was a good deal of dedicated work with a great return for the parish. I was also thankful that so many members of the Schmitt family could make it for the dedication of Bishop Hall to our second pastor, Bishop Mark Joseph Schmitt. Many of his nieces and nephews came along with his sister Marge. Marge was in happy spirits as she recalled the goodness of her brother who longed to be a parish priest. They all took the time to express their gratitude for such a wonderful celebration. They felt very loved. A picture of Bishop Mark Schmitt is being framed by Hobby Lobby and should be done soon. It will be placed prominently above our service counter in the new Bishop Hall and a plaque/title board should will follow. Keep an eye open for it. In addition, if I have not said this enough, thank you for the generous, generous, generous response to our Bishop s Appeal. We surpassed our goal by over $10,000. What a powerful message of faith in the charitable works of our diocese. Though we can t follow a gift through the timeline of service that it will travel, we can know that God somehow works all things for the good for those who love him, and that our gift has shown great love for God if nothing less. To everyone who discerned whether this was the year or not to give, I say thank you, for taking the time with God to listen and respond to his voice. All are to be thanked. The 60 th Anniversary Parish Directory is still underway and there is time yet to have yourself included in the book. Everyone s name will be listed in the book regardless. There is a complimentary 8x10 that everyone receives from having their picture taken. Further pictures are left up to you to decide, you are under no obligation to purchase any pictures, it is left to your own discernment.
