Gerald Hussey William Ray Nate EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Sirach 27:4-7 This reading explains that quality and truth in conversation is a test for humankind. Only after listening to a person's reasoning can we know the mind of another. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 Paul speaks of the mystery of transformation that is victory over death when our mortality puts on immortality. We are encouraged by Paul to be steadfast and immovable, filling our lives with the work of the Lord. Gospel: Luke 6:39-45 Today, Jesus teaches through the use of parables, first encouraging us to be like the teacher, understand that the blind cannot lead the blind. Jesus also reminds us that only the heart's good treasure produces good. In order to remain steadfast, we must heed what Jesus tells us. If we hear God's word, our foundation will be strong, unshaken, steadfast, built upon rock. Rev. The Stations of the Cross is a powerful way to contemplate and enter the mystery of Jesus' gift of himself to us. Experience the love of Jesus and the deep gratitude that leads to real generosity and a desire to love as you have been loved. From the earliest of days, the followers of Jesus told the story of his passion, death and resurrection. As time passed, the Holy sites where Jesus walked in Jerusalem became important holy connections with Jesus. When it became no longer easy or even possible to visit the holy sites, the Stations of the Cross developed as replicas" of the way of the cross. Come and experience this amazing gift to us as we walk the stations together and hear the meaning of each station. Friday, March 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, April 5th & 19th 7:00pm St. Christopher Church. If you wish to have the Sanctuary candle burning in memory of a deceased loved one or a special intention, please call the Parish Office. The Sanctuary Lamp contains a special wax candle that burns for seven straight days before it is changed. The cost of the candle is $5.00. The candle will burn for one week and an announcement for the intention or memorial will be published in the parish bulletin. ELECTRONIC GIVING What do I have to do to set this up? Many of you already pay your bills electronically this is no different. Contact your banking institution to set this up. The bank will send your parish a check for the amount you have indicated on the day you have selected. Some people do this weekly, others monthly. But I won t have anything to put in the collection basket. There is a box to check off on each envelope that reads I gave electronically. You can use this to place in the collection if you choose. What benefit is there to electronic giving? Giving electronically on a set schedule not only makes it easier for you, it also assists the parishes when planning budgets. The budget packet will also be a budget aid to you, letting you know in advance when there is a special second collection for the parish or a Diocesan or National collection.
