We had a really nice evening full of fun camaraderie, laughter, jokes (some funny and others not as funny) and GREAT food!!! If you didn t attend you missed a nice evening. BUT we re going to have a few more opportunities for us all to gather together as the year unrolls. By the time anyone reads this it will likely be March and the beginning of our early Spring flying. Spring seemed to arrive early last Sunday as a large group of flyers were at the TRCM field to enjoy a day of light winds, sunshine and good friends. As we sat and watched and visited I was struck by the diversity of our club and how much I like that diversity. We had Alan Kranich flying his J -3 Cub, along with Rob Stanley s Waco and John Giglio s Lysander (what a wonderful sound from that Saito radial engine). We had Mark Huntley, Don Brown, Graham Dubois and Mitch Biddle flying larger IMAC type planes, Mervyn Ory in his Giant

P a g e 2 TRCM HEADWIND Stick, Ken Knowles flying a ducted fan A-10 Warthog, Mike Wilson with his assortment of different and (sometimes) oddball aircraft. Nick Clayton even had a drone there. I just couldn t help but think that this is what RC flying is all about. So many types of aircraft and so many forms of flying that can suit any interest in aviation. I m so glad that our club accepts and encourages us to fly all of the various doctrines of RC (scale, warbirds, competition, 3D, etc.) This is what RC flying is all about. Just a quick thought.. as we enter into our better weather and more flying, this is a great time to do that inspection of batteries, connections, fuel lines and all the other stuff that might have suffered after a winter in the hangar. Looking forward to seeing you all at the March 6 th meeting beginning at 6:00PM at the Lodi Library.

P a g e 3 TRCM HEADWIND TRCM MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, 6 February 2018 Lodi Public Library Call to order by President Greg Hennefer at 6:04 with 27 members present and 2 prospective members. Brad Chestnut and daughter Kelly were presented to the club and after hearing from them, it was voted, that, they become our newest members. Welcome Brad and Kelly. Announcements from the floor: Lucas Stone read a letter, he had written, thanking us for the T-28 airplane, radio and pilot starter kit that was presented to him at the Dec. meeting. He is very appreciative of us letting him become a member and for the gift and all the help he has received. He already is saving for, an addition to his assets, a P-51 Mustang. Again, welcome Lucas and good luck. Dick Wareham announced that he needs to sell some stinking badges. He has paid for about 250 of them and needs some buyers. It costs just as much to ship one as it does several. Officer Reports: President: Greg Hennefer Greg informed us that there have been some complaints, from full scale pilots, that have observed us flying too high. He is not sure who the complaints came from, only that, they came from Rio vista. Greg also mentioned that some are flying too close to the pits and flying toward the pits before doing a sharp pull up. He wants everyone to be aware that a mechanical failure could occur at any time and that if you are pointed toward the pits, it could be catastrophic. He also reminded us that he has hats and caps for sale. Greg announced that he can t go home until he lets us know that Singing Valentines are available by his wife s singing group. The subject of Pickle Ball came up. That it is a fast growing sport. Some members are involved. Greg is building a Pickle Ball court in his yard. Vice President: Mitch Biddle, not present. Secretary: Al Doucette, Offered some brochures for the AMA Expo on November 2-4, to be held at the Fairplex in Pamona, CA. If anyone is interested you should go to the AMA website. Also have a couple Warbird Calendars and a few model airplane plans. Talked about Jack John-son, a long time member of the club. Past Secretary, Treasurer and Editor of the Headwind, who passed away the day after Christmas. Jack left us a couple plaques, a photo album and a book about the Boeing Company. I had a DVD, of flights of his Wright Flyer, that showed some of us celebrating the 100 th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flights. I will loan it to anyone who wants to see it but, I would like it back. Treasurer: Rob Stanley gave his treasurers report. Everything is looking good, monetarily wise, and with the two new members, our count is up to about 60. Field Marshall: Mike Mancebo, nothing

P a g e 4 TRCM HEADWIND Safety Coordinator: Dan Wangrin mentioned that if anyone sees something they are not comfortable with, tactfully mention it to those around you. Webmaster: Neil Gates Not present, but Greg heard from him. There is a problem with the website. Some of the officers cannot send out e-mails to the members, etc. He will work on it to get it squared away. Headwind Editor: Mark Huntley Not present, but Dennis tweeted and found out who the winners of the Name the Plane were. And they are, Bud Newhall, John Giglio and Mervin Ory. The plane was an Olympic Duo 4 powered by two 4-cylinder, air cooled, Pirate engines producing 125 hp each. Congratulations guys. Old Business: Sweetheart dinner report by Larry/Greg February 17, 6:00pm at the Barrel Room, Grape Festival Grounds, catered by Salsbury, $10.00 per person. Wine, soft drinks, gifts for the ladies and a raffle. Shade structure report: Bill Churchill, Did his part, got them made and a coat of primer applied Nick has them and has them painted. Need to put in the footings and safety fence, to be determined at a later date. New Business: Warbird flyin tentatively set for Aug 25 th. IMAC Boot camp IMAC Experience was a success and the next step is a simulated IMAC contest, which will be held on 31 st March. Coffee, donuts and hot dogs will be available, See Don Brown for further information. Club members only. Show & Tell Rob showed a framed picture of his 1927 Travel Air, Mystery Ship that his wife gave him for Christmas. She had taken a bunch of pictures to try out her new camera, then surprised him with the picture. Awards: Name the Plane: See above ACE: Zac Winchester for helping Don get his airplane back, long story/ Bill for making the brackets. Voted as a joint award. Oop: Nominations (Reported last month) Dave Miller for crashing his new Extra. Don (not club member) for maiden of an A-26 which went full speed into the fence. Dan Wangrin 2 in one day. Aileron reverse and too much up elevator, trim backward and hard landing. Suspect digital trim. Mike Wilson, Leader 480 canopy came off battery fell out for a disastrous result. Greg lost battery in flight, accidently came disconnected. Not his fault. Dan Wangrin winner of Oops award. Secretary Al Doucette
